Chapter 54
Hours passed but sleep was far from Zoya's eyes. After returning from the movie, she had changed and jumped on bed, expecting to fall asleep immediately. But, that hasn't happened. She has been tossing and turning for more than 3 hours now. She looked at the clock that read 3:05. "Allah miyan, jab main movie dekhti hoon tab aap mujhe neend dehte hai aur jab mujhe sohna hai, neend nahi aaraha hai," she silently complained to her Allah miyan. She turned to see her husband peacefully sleeping next to her. Her lips curved into a smile. She loved watching him sleep, he had this innocent boyish charm when he was in slumber. In the mornings, he was this serious Asad Ahmed Khan that was proper and right. She traced his jaw and lips. "You are one creepy wife Zoya, watching your husband sleep," she thought to herself with a giggle. She then sat up and walked to the window. She took a seat on the edge as she watched the stars. Her back felt sore and her legs too were hurting her. May be laying down is better, she thought. She returned to bed and lay down there. Seconds later, she felt his hands wrap around her waist. He snuggled closer to her, "tum theek ho?" he asked. "Nahi Asad, neend nahi aarahi hai. Tab se sohne ki kosish karahi ho," she complained. He sat up and turned on the lights. "Kya hua?" he asked worried. "Paata nahi, my back hurts and my legs too," she told him. He could see she was in pain. "I am calling the doctor," he said as he got off the bed. "Asad please, its 3 in the morning, tum iss waqt par doctor koh utaoge," she scolded. "Yes," came his curt reply. "Allah miyan, what's wrong with you? Doctor bhi toh insaan hai, main theek hoon," Zoya told him as she tried to sit up on the bed. She saw him still dialing away on his phone. "Asad, put that down!" she told him seriously. Asad sighed as he turned off the phone and walked up to her. Talking a seat next to her on the bed, "ziddi ho tum," he told her taking her hand in his and caressing it. "Woh toh main hoon," Zoya replied with her dimpled smile. "Main kuch balm laata hoon," Asad said and Zoya nodded. He went into the closet and returned with the medication box. He went and sat behind her on the bed. He got the balm from the box and raised her night top up. Taking the soft gel like substance in his fingers, he started rubbing it on her lower back. He slowly started massaging her skin. Zoya closed her eyes in relief, her husband's hands running through her skin made her feel better. She lay back into his arms. Asad smiled. "Guess you are feeling better?" he teased. She smiled, "yup, my husband is the best masseur ever," she said. After a few minutes, Asad finished and laid her down. "Tumare pair koh dekhte hai," Asad said as he moved the blanket. He was shocked, her lower feet were swelled up. More than they were that morning. "Zoya, yeh toh itne sooj gaye hai," Asad said worried. "Really?" she said as she sat up again. Looking at her feet, Zoya knew they were a lot worse than that morning. She looked at Asad worried. "Main jaake Ammi koh lekar aata hoon," Asad said as he dashed out of the room. Zoya moved her pants up and she could see her calves were a bit swollen too.
Minutes later, Asad returned with Dilshad. "Kya hua beta?" she asked worried. "Paata nahi Ammi, thodi dher phele mein bas thodi sohjan thi," Zoya said. "Tum fikar mat karo, yeh tel Ammi laayi thi tumare aur Nikhat kehliye. Aise waqt mein khabhi pair bahut sooj jate hai," Dilshad explained as she took a seat and quickly opneed the small bottle of herbal oil. As Dilshad was about to touch her feet, Zoya held her hand, "Ammi...aap kaise, main karlongi," she said feeling uncomfortable that Dilshad was touching her feet. Dilshad smiled, "Zoya, kya beti keh pair Ammi nahi cho sakthi," she said. Zoya smiled, "phir bhi Ammi, aap baadi hai," she mumbled, afraid that Dilshad might yell at her. "Mujhe sabh sunayi dehta hai, aabh lao yaha," Dilshad said as she took Zoya legs and placed in her lap. Zoya pouted while Asad just smiled at the two women. He always admired the two, the relationship they have developed. He sometimes felt that Dilshad was more Zoya's mother than his, and same went with Nikhat. His mother was biased towards her bahus, that's for sure, he thought as he chuckled to himself. Sometime later, Dilshad finished and looked up to see Zoya had fallen asleep. She smiled as she covered her with the blanket. "Thanks Ammi, aur sorry aapko itni raat koh uta diya. Main pareshaan hogaya tha," Asad told her. "Kohi baat nahi Asad, accha hai woh sohgayi. Tum bhi soh jao aur ha agar kuch chahiye toh mujhe bhula lena, theek hai," Dilshad said and Asad obediently nodded. Later, he made sure that she was comfortable before he fell asleep next to her.
The next morning, Asad woke up early for a meeting and left for work. Zoya slept in till late afternoon. When she woke up, she felt a lot better. Her feet have reduced in swelling and her back pain was mild now. Zoya freshened up and went downstairs to learn that her husband had left early morning. She felt bad that he couldn't sleep well last night. Zoya picked up her phone to text him, but saw his text instead. "I hope you feel better when you wake up, take care, love you!" it read. A smile crept up on her lips. He had become much more vocal about his feelings lately and she loved it. "I am fine, feeling a lot better. I am sorry you couldn't sleep well and had to go to work," she sent with a sad smiley face. "I am fine too, now that you are. Eat something and rest, do nothing crazy!" Asad told her. "Everything I do is crazy for you," she retorted back. Asad chuckled sitting in his office chair. Later, Zoya ate some food though she really wasn't hungry. Then, she bought all the ladies up to her room to show them what she had bought for the baby. Everyone could see how excited Zoya was when she talked about the child. Dilshad and Dadi blessed and warded off the evil eye. Nikhat and Najma were teasing her about how Asad had bought all this. "Tumare Bhaiya ne, no way! Agar unka bas chalta toh woh mujhe khali haath wapaas le aate. Mujhe hi paata keh maine kitne papad bhel kar tumare Bhaijaan koh maanaya hai," Zoya exaggerated as the others chuckled. "Oh come on Zoya, I am sure it wasn't that bad. Asad toh tumare har baat par ha kardeta hai toh kya takleef," Nikhat teased. "Bhabhi, aapko paata hai Asad bol rahe the keh abhi time hai, itni jaldi kyun. Lekin yeh sabh dekhar, I couldn't resist," Zoya declared as she hugged a small toy close to her chest. "You sound like me 5 years ago," Nikhat confessed. "Tume maloom hai Zoya, pheli baar ma bana ek alag hi ehsaas hota hai. Yeh saach hai keh ek ma apne saare baccho se ek samaan pyaar karti hai lekin pheli baar pheli baar hi hota hai," Suraiya said. "Ha Ammi, yeh toh sahi hai," Dilshad agreed. "Accha iska matlab hai aap Farhan Bhaijaan koh sabh zyada pyaar karti hai, mujhe nahi," Najma pouted. "Nahi, main sabh se utna hi pyaar karti hoon jitna main Farhan se karti hoon. Aur tum toh meri pyaar si gudiya ho," Dilshad said as she lovingly caressed Najma's cheek. Just then, Asad barged into the room. "Zoya...tum...," he stopped seeing everyone there. "Aree Asad, sabh khairat? Tum itni jaldi wapaas aagaye?" Dilshad asked concerned. "Jee Ammi, mujhe Zoya se baat karni hai," he firmly stated. Zoya and everyone knew that Asad was mad about something. His stern face and red eyes gave it away. Everyone quietly left the room. As soon as the door closed, Asad turned her, "Tum abhi bhi itni irresponsible kaise hosakthi ho Zoya, I can't believe it! Tume tumari ya humare bacche keh kohi bhi fikar nahi haina?" he yelled. Zoya looked at him, shocked and confused. "Asad, hua kya hai? Aap chila kyun rahe hai?" she asked hurt. "Tumne tumari last ultrasound appointment miss karditi?" he asked. Zoya closed her eyes, how could she forget. "Main doctor koh phone karne wali thi," she told him. "Kabh? Doh hafte se unn logo ne wait kiya and aaj mujhe phone aaya. Warna mujhe paata hi nahi chalta," Asad yelled. "Asad please, chilao mat," Zoya said as tears filled her eyes. Asad's anger instantly melted and he rushed to her side. "I am sorry," he said cupping her face in his hands.
"Aap hamesha meri baat sune bina, mujhpar chilate hai," she said pushing him away. "Zoya, I am sorry! Mujhe bas tumari aur humare bacchi ki fikar hai. Tum aise ultrasound miss kaise karsakthi ho," he said. "Mujhe bhi humare bacche ki utni hi fikar hai jitni aapko hai. Bas tabh ghar mein itna sabh horaha hai tha keh main bhul gayi appointment keh baare mein. Aur jab phone aaya toh maine bola tha keh main baad mein appointment ley lungi but I forgot. I am sorry," she said as tears roll down her cheeks. "Zoya, no! Please. I am sorry. Mujhe poochna chahiye tha. Woh bas jab doctor ka phone aaya tha aur unone mujhse kaha keh tumne apni appointment miss kardi aur reschedule bhi nahi kiya toh I was worried. I am sorry again," Asad said as he moved forward and wiped her tears away. She threw herself in his arms, "Main vaada karti hoon Asad, main humare bacche ka pura khayal rakongi. Main khabhi uss par kohi bura saya bhi nahi bane dungi," Zoya promised. "Par main chatha hoon keh tum phele tumara khayal rako," he told her. "Uss kehliye tum hona" she said as she pulled him in an embrace. He smiled. "Maine kal kehliye appointment li hai, I will pick you up, be ready!" he told her. She nodded, "You know Asad, may be iss baar hum baby ki heart beats sun payenge," she told him. He grinned hearing her words. The last time, they had an ultrasound performed; it was too early to hear a heartbeat. They have been able to see the baby but it a size of a golf ball. This time, they might be able to see more of their child. Just the thought excited them both.
That night, at dinner, the family discussed some things for Humaira and Haider's upcoming wedding. Zoya was so excited. It was her sister's wedding and Haider was no less than a brother. "Bhabhis, we should all coordinate, especially for the mehendi," Najma squealed. "Of course, hume dance bhi toh karna hai," Zoya said happily. "Kya? Tum dance karogi?" Asad said shocked. "Ha Asad, kyun nahi?" Zoya asked innocently. "No way Zoya, by that time tum almost 6 months pregnant hogi, main tume aisi halat mein dance nahi karne deh saktha," Asad scolded. Zoya pouted. "Toh theek hai, aap dance kijiye mere badle," Zoya retorted. Asad almost choked on his food hearing his wife while the rest of the family giggled. "Zoya, yeh kya pagal pan hai?" he said. "Pagal pan hai toh hai, either you let me dance ya dance in place of me," Zoya stated. "Actually Bhabhi, that's a great idea. Main Farhan Bhai aur Asad Bhaijaan keh saath group performance karsakthi hoon," Najma added. Asad just shook his head. His family was already crazy enough and adding his wife to that mixture wasn't doing him any better. "Tum mujhe kyun beech mein larahi ho, Agar Nikhat chathi hai keh woh dance kare toh karsakthi hai. Bas thoda samaal keh," Farhan intervened. "Aap Bhabhi koh dance karne denge?" Asad said surprised. "Asad, kyon sa yeh aerobics karne wali hai. Bas simple sa dance toh hai," Farhan explained. "But Bhaijaan, aap jaante hai jab Zoya khush hoti hai toh apni duniya mein kho jaati hai. Usse aur kuch dikhayi nahi dehta," Asad said. "Aisa kuch bhi nahi hai, aap koh toh sirf Jahapanah bankar sabh par orders dalna accha lagtha hai," Zoya blurted out. Everyone chuckled hearing Zoya call Asad Jahapanah. Asad glared at Zoya and that is when she realized what she had said. "Fine, main dance nahi karongi," Zoya said sadly. Asad hated to see her sad but he knew that if he let her loose, she will turn the world upside down with her crazy antics. "Aap keh bina thodi na maaza aayega Bhabhi," Najma said gloomily. "Main tum logo koh phir bhi support karongi na, I will be your cheerleader from the sidelines," Zoya told her. "Aur agar Zoya Haider ki shaadi mein dance nahi karsakthi toh kya hua, Tumare shaadi mein dance karlegi tamatar," Asad teased. Najma turned cherry red as everyone just laughed at her. "Yeh idea bhi accha hai," Zoya said as she winked at Najma. "Bhabhi...please," Najma said, still blushing. As dinner was about to end, Dadi informed everyone that she will be leaving tomorrow evening as she had to return to her sister who was starting to fall ill in the village. Rashid wished his mother would stay for a longer time, as things were finally where they were supposed to be for years. "Aree Rashid, aabh kuch meino mein mujhe wapaas aana hi toh hai, main doh doh potre ya potri ka moo dekhne," Suraiya said beaming as she looked at Nikhat and Zoya. "Theek hai Ammi, agar aap yehi chathi hai toh main kal kehliye aapki tickets book kardonga. Aap khala koh humara salaam boliyega," Rashild said. Soon, they all finished dinner and headed to rest for the night.
The next afternoon, Asad and Zoya waited in the doctor's waiting lounge nervously. "Stop fidgeting Asad, please," Zoya said to her husband. He stopped shaking his leg which he has been doing for a while now. "Sorry," he said. "Aap mujhe bhi nervous karahe hai," she told him, taking a deep breath. "I know, Allah sabh theek rakenge, tum fikar mat karo," he said. She nodded but he could see that she was still nervous. Asad held her hand in his and caressed it. She turned to him and smiled, "main theek hoon," she told him as much she said that to herself. Just then, the nurse called them in and Asad Zoya walked into the doctor's office. "Good to see you Mr. and Mrs. Khan," the doctor said. "I am sorry doctor, I missed the appointment 3 weeks ago," Zoya said apologetically. "That is alright, I hope all is well," the doctor said concerned. "Jee, bas thoda nausea abhi bhi hai but my vomiting is going down," Zoya replied. "But doctor, she was having back pain and leg swelling yesterday. She couldn't sleep well at night due to pain," Asad added. "Did you do something strenuous that day?" the doctor inquired. "Nahi doctor, bas hum dono shopping gaye the aur kuch nahi," Zoya said. "Khabhi khabhi pregnancy mein agar zyada dher tak apne pairon par raho toh asia hosaktha hai. Make sure if you do something on your feet for long, you return home and relax. As far as the back pain is concerned, when the baby starts to grow, the gravity in women changes so it can cause the back muscles to tense up," the doctor explained. Asad and Zoya both nodded in understanding. "Par agar dard zyada badh jaye ya swelling kam na ho toh you have to come to me," the doctor said. "Of course doctor," Zoya said. "So, ready for the ultrasound?" the doctor asked the couple. Zoya looked at Asad tensely. He took her hand in his, "we are ready," he replied. Minutes later, Zoya lay on the bed next to the ultrasound machine. She could feel her heart beat rising per the second. She held onto her husband's hand and squeezed it. He caressed it back and smiled, telling her everything will be alright. The doctor moved her top aside and Zoya felt the ice cold gel on her protruding abdomen. She felt her body tingle at the contact. As the doctor started to place the machine on her stomach and started moving it around, Asad and Zoya saw the image of their baby come up on the screen. Zoya felt her heart flutter looking at the screen. The doctor's described the baby's eyes, nose, and his forming extremities. The moment the heart beat resonated from the screen, she couldn't stop the tears from flowing down. She smiled through the tears that rolled down her cheeks. Asad couldn't stop grinning either. His eyes were moist but his face was in the hugest smile ever. Asad didn't know if he has ever felt so happy in his life. He saw his wife crying too with a smile plastered on her face. He moved closer, wiping her tears, and placed a kiss on her forehead. Zoya was astonished at what her husband has just done. It was the first time he had publically displaced any affection towards her. She knew he loved her but he wasn't a man that desired to express that, especially not in front of strangers. He hardly did anything in front of his family, let alone their doctor. The doctor just smiled at the couple. She knew that seeing their baby for the first time could be emotional for parents. "Look what we have here?" the doctor said. Both Asad and Zoya looked at the screen. "Kya hua doctor? sabh theek toh haina?" Asad asked tensed, as Zoya watched the screen where her baby was. "Sabh bilkul theek hai? Lekin tum dono koh aabh ek nahi doh doh khushiya milne wali hai," the doctor said excitedly. "Matlab?" Zoya said puzzled. "You two are having twins!" the doctor announced. Both Asad and Zoya were shocked. It took them a minute to recover from the news that the doctor had just given them. "Twins," Zoya said to herself. Asad held her hand in his tighter than before as they both smiled at each other. "Do you want know the gender of the babies?" the doctor asked. "Yes, no!" came the two answers. The doctor chuckled, "I guess I will let you two decide and met me back in the office," the doctor said as she wiped the gel off and left the couple alone. "Aapko nahi jaan na hai?" she asked surprised. "Let's keep it surprise," he told her. "But Mr. Khan, I don't think I can wait any longer," she pouted. Asad chuckled. "I am sure it will be worth the wait," he said as he helped her climb down from the bed. They returned to the doctor's office and she told them that everyone was going as it was supposed to. The babies were growing at a normal rate. She told them that the Zoya's blood reports should be back tomorrow and she will call them with the results. Asad and Zoya felt a sigh of relief.
Zoya and Asad walk through the hallway leading to the exit bursting with excitement. They couldn't believe that they were being blessed with not one, but two babies. Knowing that they were safe was a huge relief. "But Mr. Khan, mujhe nahi lagtha keh main intezaar karpaogi, main doctor se pooch lo," Zoya said referring to the baby's gender. As she was about to walk back inside, he held her arm and pulled her to him. "Aap aisa kuch nahi karengi," he told her. "Par kyun Asad? Main pooch longi doctor se, aap nahi jaaniyega," she reasoned. "Agar tume paata chal gaya toh sabh koh paata chal jayenga, yeh tum bhi jaanti ho," Asad said. Zoya glared at him with a pout. "Chalo...bahut jald paata chal jayega," he said as he pulled to the exit. Zoya sulked as she followed her husband out. As soon as they reached outside, Zoya cheeriness sprung back! She ran into the grassy area in front of the hospital as the water from the sky tuned onto her skin. Asad shook his head, as he pulled his wife back into the shade, "Zoya, yeh kya karahi ho, tum beemar hojaogi," he told her. "Mr. Khan, aaj nahi! Chaliye na," she said as she pulled him out in the open. She put her hand out in the air and played with the water. A smile graced her lips as she twirled around on the grass. Asad stood there watching his wife, dancing in bliss. His heart felt content seeing her so happy after such a long time. She looked at him, "aap dance kyun nahi karahe hai?" she questioned with a hand on her hips. "Because I love to watch you dance," he expressed. Zoya smiled as she put her hands in the air, catching the rain water, and then splashing on its face. Asad glared at her. Wasn't he already getting wet? His eyes questioned. "Iss mein zyada maaza hai," she said with a mischievous glint in her beautiful eyes. Asad smirked as he held her wrist and pulled her closer to him. "Hamesha aise hi haste rehna," he said caressing her cheek with his other hand. Zoya felt warmth race to her cheeks though the rain was pouring over them. "Agar aap mere saath rahenge toh mujhe paata hai keh main hamesha hasti rahongi," Zoya said. Asad moved closer and placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love you," he conveyed. "I love you too," Zoya said as she threw herself in his arms. He held her against his chest as the rain came down on them. Asad, who would usually be bothered with getting wet, didn't care. The smile on her lips made up for everything and anything. Minutes later, he felt her shiver under him. They broke apart, "Maine kaha tha na, tabeyat kharaab hojayegi," he scolded. "Main theek hoon, sirf thand lagrahi hai," Zoya said rubbing her shoulders with her hands. He took out his coat and wrapped it around her. "Chalo, let's go home," Asad said taking her hand in his and leading them home.
Reaching Khan Villa, Asad and Zoya walked into see the whole family in the living room. They were all laughing about something which stopped when the couple entered. "Aree aagaye tum dono? Sabh theek hai?" Suraiya asked. "Jee Dadi, sabh theek hai," Zoya said smilingly. "Toh paata chala?" Nikhat asked curiously. "Asad koh wait karna hai," Zoya pouted. Nikhat and everyone giggled. "And you don't?" Nikhat said. Zoya shook her head, "I don't have the patience," she admitted. "Lekin kuch aur paata chala hai," Zoya added happily. "Kya beta?" Dilshad asked. "Aaj doctor ne ultrasound dekhar bola keh ek nahi doh hai," Zoya announced. "Ek nahi doh?" Najma asked while Dilshad, Nikhat, and Suraiya's faces lit up. "Saach?" Nikhat asked. Zoya bobbed her head positively. "Lekin doh kya?" Najma said, still confused. "Tamatar, twins hai," Asad said laughing at his sister. Everyone walked up to the couple, pulling Asad and Zoya into a hug and blessing them. "Lekin tum dono bheeg kaise gaye?" Dilshad asked. "Woh Ammi, bahar baarish horahi thi toh," Asad replied. "Ha, lekin itna kaise, Zoya tume dihaan rakna chahiye beta, iss halat mein tum beemar padgayi toh," Dilshad lovingly scolded the two. "Woh Ammi, doctor appointment keh baad main itni khush thi keh mujhe baarish mein jhoom ne ka maan karaha tha," Zoya blurted out. Asad closed his eyes. "This girl and her big mouth, now he was going to be in trouble," he thought. All eyes turned to Asad, "tumne usse baarish mein khel ne diya," Dilshad said in disbelief. "Aapki bahu meri baat kaha sunti hai," he defended. "Ammi, bas paanch minute kehliye tha," Zoya said innocently as she spread her fingers and showed a five. Everyone snickered as Dilshad glared at her son. "Phir bhi Zoya, tum jao. Phele change karlo," Dilshad said. Zoya nodded. As she was about to climb the stairs, "yeh sabh kya hai?" she asked when she noticed the boxes of sweets, jewelry, and dresses. "Woh Bhabhi, Zeenat bhaji ki shaadi haina doh dino mein, ussi ki tyaari horahi hai," Najma informed her. Zoya recalled receiving the invitation to Zeenat's wedding about a month or so ago. She was Asad's cousin from the paternal side and they lived in a town named Mangalpur. She vaguely remembered Zeenat from their wedding; she seemed like a nice girl. "That's so exciting. Ammi, hume Haider Humaira keh Nikkhe kehliye bhi shopping shuru kardeni chahiye, bas thoda waqt hi toh reha gaya hai," Zoya said turning to Dilshad. "Ha Ammi, I need some nice dresses. After all mere last Bhai ki shaadi hai," Najma said excitedly. "Theek hai, main kal Saleem Bhai koh bol thi hoon keh woh aajaye. Aur Zoya tum Humaira aur Razia bi koh bhi bhula leyna," Dilshad said. The girls cheered including Zoya. "Accha...aabh jao...change karo, aur Asad tum bhi," Dilshad told them both. Asad nodded as he followed his wife up the stairs.
Zoya walked into the room and seconds later, felt her husband's arms wrap around her waist. "Asad, mujhe change karna hai," she told him trying to free herself. "Not so fast! Tumne Ammi se mujhe darth padwayi hai toh saaza toh milegi," he said nuzzling her cheek with his nose. Zoya giggled at his mischievousness. She turned around and encircled her arms around his neck. "Aur kya saaza hai mere jahapanah," she teased. He smirked as he leaned in closer. "Asad, darwaza...," she whispered. He stepped back, still holding her by the waist, and kicked the door shut. He then locked the door without even looking back. After finishing, his eyes met her, "where were we?" he said tracing her cheek with his index finger. "Aap mujhe meri saaza baata rahe the," she reminded. "Oh yes," he said as his finger reached her jaw line. Zoya felt her heart race and her stomach twist as he decreased the distance between them. As his lips met hers, she closed her eyes in bliss. The kiss started out soft and delicate but soon their passion took over and the kiss became intense. They broke apart a few minutes later, gasping for air. He placed wet kisses along the side of her neck. He removed the dupatta and threw it on the floor. Her hands went from his neck to his chest, and she started to unbutton his shirt. Seeing his perfectly tones body, Zoya felt aroused. She pressed her lips against hers. As they kissed, he picked her up in his arms and walked to the bed. Carefully placing her on the bed, he pecked her lips again. Soon, the clothes came off and they were wrapped in the blankets of love and passion. After they were done, they lay in each othe's arms as his hand drew circles on her back. "Agar yehi meri saaza hai toh mujhe aapko baar baar Ammi se darth padwana chahiye," Zoya said as she moved up to kiss his jaw. He chuckled as he moved her closer than she already was. "Hume neeche chalna chahiye, sabh sooch rahe honge keh hum kaha gayab hogaye," she said. "I am sure they are smart enough to figure it out," Asad joked. "Asad," she gasped as she playfully punched his chest. He got off the bed and puts his pants on. Zoya wrapped the sheets around her and stood up. "Main change karke aati hoon," she said as she walked into the closet to grab some clothes. "Main madad kardo," he said as he picked up their semi-wet clothes from the floor. "I can handle it," Zoya said as she ran from the closet to the bathroom. Minutes later, she returned after taking a hot shower and changing into a cotton salwar kameez. She saw her husband on the couch, dressed in grey pants and a dark green shirt, talking to someone on the phone. As he ended the call, "hume neeche chalna chahiye, Dadi keh nikal ne ka waqt hogaya," she informed. He nodded and they both proceeded downstairs.
As Dadi was leaving, she pulled Asad and Zoya in a hug again and blessed them both. She apologized to Zoya once again and promised to return soon when the baby arrives in a few months. Rashid and Farhan left with Dadi to drop her off at the airport. Later that night, Zoya was in her pajamas as she lay on the bed watching her favorite cartoon tom and jerry on her tablet. Asad was on the sofa, replying to some work emails on his laptop. His eyes drifted to his wife who was watching something and giggling. As he finished his work, he shut the laptop down and placed it back in its proper place. He walked over to her and took a seat next to her laying himself on the bed. Zoya, unaware of his presence, was totally engrossed in the chase that tom was having with jerry. She laughed again. He moved closer and moved the locks of hair that fell on her cheeks. She turned to look at him. "Yeh tum kya dekh rahi ho?" he asked. "Tom and Jerry, my favorite," she said with a grin. "Zoya, tum humare babies koh bigad rahi ho?" he said. She paused the video and sat up. "Kya matlab?" she asked. "Tum humare babies koh yeh dikhaogi?" Asad questioned. "Ha, kya problem hai iss mein," she said. "Zoya, babies yeh dekhar kya seekenge," Asad explained. "Accha toh aap babies keh paida hone keh phele hi usse Einstein banana chathe hai, wow Asad," she said sarcastically. "I didn't mean that," he said. "Please Asad, humare babies aapki taara bilkul bhi boring nahi hoga. I want him or her to be interesting and fun like me," Zoya said proudly. "Ek pagal kaafi hai family mein," he told her. Her jaw dropped at his words. "What's wrong with you Asad, Aap mujhe pagal bol rahe hai," she said as she angrily folded her arms across her chest. Asad chuckled at his cute wife's antics. "Ha, lekin yaad hai maine tumse pheli bhi kaha tha keh tum bahut cute pagal ho. Mujhe ek nahi pure teen teen cute pagal chahiye," He said pinching her nose that was turning red with anger. Zoya smiled, "aap saach bol rahe haina?" she confirmed. "Of course," he said moving forward and pecking her lips. "Phir aapko bhi yeh dekhna chahiye. After all humare babies keh aane keh baad, aapko unke saath yeh sabh dekhna padega," Zoya suggested as she grabbed her iPad. "What? nahi Zoya, yeh sabh mujhe nahi dekhna hai," Asad said shocked at his wife's ideas. As he was about to get up from the bed, she pulled him back down. "Come on Asad...please," she pouted. Asad felt his heart flutter at her pleading face. He could do anything if she asked with that face, he thought. "Theek hai," he said as he slumped on the back. Zoya giggled as she cuddled closer to him and turned the video on again. As they started watching, she explained the characters and how the story went. Asad's focus was on his beautiful wife. The way she used her hands to describe the characters and the way her eyes sparkled when she chuckled at the cartoon characters, his heart melted just looking at her. He cared less about the show or the characters, his eyes didn't move from his dazzling wife. After that episode was over, Zoya had suggested that they watch frozen. Asad had no idea what she was talking about. "Allah miyan, what's wrong with you? Aap frozen nahi jaante hai. Olaf is the cutest ever," Zoya said. "Yeh Olaf kyon hai?" Asad asked, feeling a little jealous that his wife was praising someone else, though he might be a fictional character. Zoya giggled, "Abhi baata thi hoon," she said as she quickly went to google and typed Olaf. Asad waited for some macho guy to pop up on screen but what came up was a white snowman. He turned to look at Zoya who was admiring the snowman. His wife was so not normal, the thought crossed his mind before he spoke, "So this is what we are watching?" he asked. "Yes," she said excitedly. "Still Jealous Mr. Khan?" she teased. Asad looked at her surprised. He didn't expect her to pick up on his tone of voice. She chuckled, "I can't believe you are jealous of Olaf," she told him. He wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer. "Can I ask who you love more?" he said. "Aap mujhe aise choose nahi karasakthe," she accused. "I want to know," he firmly stated. "Of course, I love olaf," she declared. Asad pouted unknown to him, hearing his wife declare love to a snowman, that too a cartoon character. "Awww...but not more than you," she said pulling his cheek, causing Asad to smile. "Well may be the babies," Zoya said placing her hand on her abdomen. Asad's smile grew bigger as he intertwined his hands with his wife's on her protruding belly.
