She was talking. Allah only knew what! The Sun was setting. He could not see it as it was on the other side of the balcony, but its dying rays still reached this side illuminating her hair giving them color of rich henna; burnishing her smooth skin. She had thin golden colored bangles in her hand...maybe four...in both hands...of a design that reflected light. Her hands constantly moved as she talked and rays of the setting sun danced on those bangles as they jingled and created music. Her kohl-lined eyes looked almost brown; color of a strong tea brew. She seemed to shimmer which was very confusing. He dumbly tried to follow the path of slanting rays not realizing that it was just golden thread in the embroidery on her dress. His body reminded that he needed to breath...deeply...and deeply he did taking in fragrance of henna in her hands.

This story makes me work, more than before. (Shouldn't it get easier as you write more? Hmm...no...not happening) But this one has a very independent mind and fights to be written. There are scenes of this story that have been stewing in my mind for more than a year. We haven't reached those parts yet, but I can't wait to be able to pen them down.

What a joy to read this chapter, it has such a good feel, like it's right out of a mystery book, the whole writing, the chapter structure and plot. All of it, very well written indeed. The way the whole chapter is described, the evenings, the mists, the rains, greenry, and most of all the characters giving each other company over tea, I loved the teacups and roses on the cups, and the china, the whole chai wali baat in the first part, so apt, right there on the chai wale bagaan.

Again, thank you. I trust and value your judgement on storytelling style. I am glad that the story is working well in different genre, too. 😊

Oh...and those tea cups with roses on them, I searched for them in market - online and offline. Couldn't find them 😔

Then you weaved right into it how a reclusive, shy man finds his littel corner of smiles that was missing, his chai time with Dilshad. How he is looking for that elusive belonging, in tea plants and estates and that cup of tea shared with love. How Dilshad and Ahsaan find each other over the brew that seeps in their life and is all around them. So perfectly. How Zoe feels tinge of pride and envy at the same time, for her anchor, Dilshad. Who is indulged with smiles that Zoe longs for. 😊

You captured the essence of this chapter. Ahsaan belonged in those tea times. He didn't even realize how much he belonged. And, yes, Zoya was left out. He felt more connected with Dilshaad then Zoya. And, it is crucial that things are this way.

So Ahsaan wants to explore a lot more than just tea plants, I feel like most readers do, he is probably related to tea estate and it's history, specially with extended family mentioned, maybe rediscovering his roots

Really like how Zoe and Ahsaan scene is written, and his frustration on the book and then lovingly restored again by him. Mending, broken relations too? Maybe?

Zoe's pov, lovely, paranthe without achaar, awww that's hard...😃 and yet...to be in such company with rains...
