Technical Tuesday | Make Up

Make up is a technical aspect of creating a show that is generally taken for granted. Artists donning make-up is obvious part of being in front of the camera. The lights while could make one look great can also be unrelenting in highlighting every blemish that appears from time to time on even the most even complexioned person. The make-up of course is not just applied to highlight beauty that is or features that one is gifted with but to put emphasis on certain features of a face or body as lights could wash them out.

We shall try and get you the application of make-up as part of our technical tuesday feature as well sometime. Today though we bring "make-up" that is messy, not flattering but part of a character. You might have seen someone play ghost with white paint on the face. Again we shall try and bring examples from our other shows where such characters have made an appearance. However, for now, we bring a clip of Vaishali Nazreth aka Mel who plays Khala and Chayan Trivedi who plays Khalu in Qubool Hai put on gram flour batter on hair and face as part of a scene.

Messy and unbecoming is what you all would say, but these artists proudly put their "make-up" and deliver a scene that could give you comic relief but the hard work that goes behind creating these scenes is something one tends to overlook.

Hats off to Mel and Chayan for this. Of course, we shall bring you a piece on Nirmal Soni and his becoming Lateef, if it is so possible.

Watch Qubool Hai for the artists who give their 100 percent for their characters with conviction and enthusiasm. Sometimes of course, the demand of the role makes one wear or don things that one may not be completely comfortable with. However, being professional actor is what this is about and we for one applaud at their efforts.
