Sage, who says Nawabs can't be Shi'a? As far as I know there have been Shi'a Nawabs in history. Though I don't think the Bhopali Nawabs have been. But that's creative liberty. We know there is no such Nawab of Bhopal right now, so in the same vein it can also just be inferred this Nawabi family are Shi'a.
That being said, I think they may up having some kind of limbo with Sanam-Aahil marriage. Not exactly divorced "un-married", but not exactly married either.
Btw, even if Aahil were still married to Sanam, the Sanam2 marriage wouldn't automatically nullified. The laws in India governing the rules of men taking on multiple wives are not as stringent as Islam. For instance--permission of the first wife. It's one of the things activists and have called for to be reworked, but is not.
Aahil's marriage to Sanam2 is invalid by theory due to the very fact that he has been tricked. But soaps don't care about these things. Let's see if Aahil signs the Nikanamma. They may just keep Sanam2 in limbo without Nikanamma signing.
Edit. Just saw your other post. Polygny is not illegal in India for Muslims. (Actually, there are all sorts of unofficial polygamy that are somewhat 'accepted' legally, though socially it is much less acceptable and common. P.S. Indian courts have even given almost wife-like rights to mistresses.😆)
