OS: The Antagonist
Alcoholic. Rude. Arrogant. Thinks of me as a gold digger. Man handles me in front of his friends. Questions my fidelity. Keeps on reminding me that my place is that of a servant and yet expects me to behave like a gracious loving wife.
Yet he did save my life twice. He did lie to his friends about the alcohol which means he is trying to leave it. Cares for his family more than himself. Loves his mother beyond limit. Somehow when he is playing the fake husband in front of others, I actually feel that he is being sincere. What's more, sometimes he gets so possessive, its feels as if he is actually my husband!
Sanam tossed and turned on the bed as she argued in her mind about the mind boggling, bi-polar qualities of her so-called-husband who was fast asleep next to her. Or so she thought.
Suddenly, she felt a hand clamp her wrist down and she realized a little too late-- the monster has awakened!
She lay still on her back, waiting for him to intimidate her but it never came. She looked at him and even he lay on his back, staring at the ceiling. She pulled and tugged, trying to free her hand but to no avail.
"I promise I won't move anymore. Will you let my hand go now?"
"Sanam, I am not a sleep monster who eats up people for tossing and turning in the bed", he said looking at her directly, his mouth curving upwards a little. He could make out her scared face even in the dark and he certainly didn't like how it was always like that around him. While with Rehaan...forget it.
"Then why are you holding down my wrist so tightly?" she questioned back still trying to pull out her hand out of his steely grip.
"We need to talk. Before that, you need to stop struggling. Can you do that? I need to know if I will have to make my grip tighter because I can", he said looking at her directly through the darkness.
There it was again. The intimidation. And he says he is not a monster. Yeah, right! thought Sanam.
"After all the humiliation tonight, I have no intentions of speaking to you. I just want this charade of marriage to end as soon as possible so I can be free from you finally", she declared and she felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment as the memories of the evening came to her involuntarily.
She wants to be away from him. Of course she wants to. Once she would be free of him, she could go and be with...him. He regretted his actions tonight but then all the memories of them together would flash in front of his eyes and jealousy would override the guilt with ease. Does that make him the antagonist in this story? Only one person could answer that.
"What do you see in him?" he asked, genuine curiosity in his voice.
He waited for an answer but he never received one. He looked at her and saw that she had fallen asleep with a frown.
He sighed. The question would have to wait for another time. He smoothed her brows and her lips curved into a tiny smile at his touch. Somehow, that smile made him feel, rather assured him that he is definitely not antagonist. Maybe there won't be nightmares tonight after all.
He wrapped his hand around hers and closed his eyes. With her hand in his, maybe he could finally dream.
So...I know that this is never ever never ever never ever going to happen because Aahil and Sanam having a civil conversation is a joke in the the fangirl world 😆. But hey, as a fangirl, I also have a PhD in day dreaming, courtesy India Forums. So tada!
Lemme know how it was 😊
