The sun was glaring out at me with a blazing look as if it was trying to melt me, it burned my skin and eyes little. The heat was getting to me a little bit.

But I should've known the July heat would be this hot at the border of Israel.

After my patrol, I was standing on a sand mountain few clicks away from the Platoon's Zone.

With my satellite phone, I called my mom Priya.

"Hey this is Doctor Kingston, leave a message."

"Mom, I know you probably don't recognize my voice anymore since it's been six months but this is Lance Corporal Zoya Farooqui Kingston and I wanted to talk to you so you still remember my voice but before I have to go and do my job, I wanted to tell you that I love you."

I smile as I hang up.

This is who I am...

I am a sister, a daughter, a friend, an American, the daughter of The Lord, co-heir with Christ, but all of these titles were given to me without a price.

There was one Title I had to earn

With my sweat

My blood

My dedication

And it was the Title of a United States Marine
