EMOTIONS : OVERLOADEDEven before Zoya's mind could register what just happened, asad was no where into vision. Her eyes rummaged the entire hall but all she saw was drunk unfamiliar faces.
The party soon after got over and zoya's anxiety was butchering her. It was two at night and asad was still not home. She was yet to get over with what had transpired between her and asad, and asad's sudden absence was not helping either. It would not be wrong to say that she felt hurt with the rude and abrupt rejection that asad threw on her.
Knowing asad's truth now, the rational part of her mind was stating crystal clear that it was just moment's play that had brought them this close and asad saw her not more than a young girl working for him. Her mind was certain that her feminine aroma had got the better of him and he couldn't help but lust for her. However him, being not in control because of such young girl , was not feeding his ego and he regretted his mannish reactions. But her heart refused to believe one bit of it. Despite of being aware of his reality , thanks to the letter , she just couldn't make herself believe that it was mere a moment's play. In those 10 min that they were together, she had witnessed millions of different emotions his eyes portrayed The way he held her, it was not lust. For sure. The way he looked at her, was not physical desire. In that fraction of minutes, she saw a man who certainly had a heart and was no monster. He held her as if he was scared to lose her. He held her as if he was looking for a solace. As if trying to hide himself from the world for that instant. But in split second, the coldness was back. And what took her for surprise was the absence of any sort of anger. He didn't slap her, neither did he shout. His face was rigid and stoned. Not a single emotion it reflected.
Even if she kept asad's actions aside for a second, she was shocked with her own. Never ever had she lost control this way. She was a normal eighteen year old girl and crushing on older guys was something she was very used to. But it what happened today was beyond her imaginations. The way she felt at his touch was new and inexpressible. Her feelings when The pain, the yearning she saw in those eyes were so deep that it scarred her. The reason behind his pain being unknown, was bothering her the most. Even the earlier hate' for him didn't matter. The letter, her brother for all at the back seat for now. All she wanted was to see asad for once.
...
"I DON'T CARE!"
He yelled at them, snatching up a pen and throwing it into the fireplace.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH, I'VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!"
"You do care," said the doctor. He had not flinched or made a single move to stop him. His expression was calm, almost detached.
"You care so much , that you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain you feel."
...
Asad's eyes opened to the night sky, as he saw one of his hazardous nightmare once again. A cool yet comforting breeze was surrounding him has he laid on the hard cold pavement. He had slept on the offices terrace. Not that he cared. Of course he had a perfectly nice home he could sleep in but he was too wasted to drive back there. Too wasted to even call a cab or walk home. His mind was clattered. He wasn't furious but scarred. Scared till death because of what happened in the party. He couldn't feel deadness anymore which he had felt for ages. After many years, his heart was busy in a job other than pumping blood and keeping him alive. This was not good. Not acceptable at all. He didn't want to feel human. He was no human! He made himself accept this fact long back. He was not allowed to feel this way..the way he felt when he was near zoya. For lord's sake, she's eight years younger to him! He reminded himself. But the reality remained unchanged. He felt.. he felt relieved, comforted. The comfort that he had forgotten long long years ago.
...
Asad groaned, placing his hands on the surprisingly warm cement, and pushed his body up so he was now sitting upright. He rubbed his blurry eyes, as the headache hit him hard. He sat on the porch...the scent of alcohol drenched his body.
Amidst the stars, asad sat there as he thought about his life.
He knew he was a name that was to be remembered for forever in business. But very less people knew about the evil spirit that resided in him. The spirit that he had created to keep himself alive. To make him numb. To make him feel like a dead man. He drank everyday in the hope that one day the intoxication would take away the pain. The pain that only he understood.
Asad ahmed khan was a man with a heart that was as cold as ice and as hard as stone... till the day he met zoya. Her presence stirred many ineffable emotions every time he was near her. And today was the heights. He felt as if the ice was melting. As if the wall that he had made was about to fall. This, terrified him. He was no kid to not know that zoya was falling for him. Even if she didn't realize it, He knew zoya liked him, Even after his worst of behaviors. But girls of her age fall for every next guy they meet. This shouldn't be effecting him the way it was. He was mature enough and this was going to end right now. He would be as harsh to her as he could, if it was needed to push to her away from him.
Taking a deep breath and resolving himself, he headed towards khan mansion.
...
It was the twentieth time when zoya went inside asad's room, hoping to see him there. But he was not back yet. Deciding to not go back to her room till he came, she sat near the window, waiting for him. But seconds later, her phone buzzed. Not wanting to talk to anyone she left it ringing. But when it didn't stopped, annoyingly she saw who the heck was calling her. But suddenly her eyes popped as it stuck her that except for mr. khan and fellow employees, no one had her number.
The screen flashed private number'. Crossing her finger, wishing that the caller was asad, she picked the call.
"Hey beautiful" Came a husky voice.
Zoya would never ever forget this voice. He was the same guy she danced with in the party!
"How did you get my no.?" She asked.
"Not bad sweety! You already know its me!"
"Say what you want to say before I hung up" zoya said, clenching her jaw. This man was a JERK.
"You can quit thinking about asad zoya. He's not the right guy and you know it. Remember what you are here for. Leave his room right after I end the call"
Saying so, he hung up. Not giving zoya a chance to speak. To say zoya was shocked would be an understatement. She was stunned. How on earth did he know what she was doing? But before she could ponder more on it zoya flinched when she heard the door open, and she could feel her heart pounding in her chest. He was back.
Asad groaned as he stumbled into the dark room, leaning on anything he could get his hands onto. He didn't even notice zoya and the light shining from the phone. He finally reached for the near by table, looked at for a minute, then laid down on it. His long legs hitting the floor.
"Damn it" He muttered placing his hands on his pounding head.
...
That's all I could manage guys!
