I felt the four hugs we had so far in this track, each spoke myriads about AsYa's emotions evolving...so I thought of seeing it in continuity. I know many of us are still upset about the unpalatable twist, I hope this will be read with no preconceived notions...😳
Why now?
Because Raziya said talaq in 3 months, and I feel that will be the duration of Zoyaan...it might get dissolved in a talaq or an invalid nikah by then...but for sure, the unpalatable bit will be over for NOW. I feel there is even a possibility of AsYa returning to KV...with the jail track and all, and Ayan and Asad thinking of going about this legally, and that symbolism of Zoya's bracelet getting entangled with Ayan's watch (Was it?)...the dissolution of the marriage might take some time. So we could be over midway of the track now...with the worst behind us...
1. The Garden hug:
This was Asad's apology to Zoya. She was deeply disturbed, and upset with him...and he had sensed just how much when she refused to return his calls...and that heart breaking message that had said, don't leave me your fake sympathy when U know U R the one I cannot live without...'
He came when she least expected him, and Zoya tried to remain aloof...she was upset with him and even herself. She had been brought there to convince some old people for an hour or so, had given in to be forced to make a sham out of what she considered very revered, had been forced to stay a few days to few weeks...and now people around her were pointing out her marital status that she wanted to forget and disregard...and here was Mr. Khan in person, ready to be at the receiving end of her anger...
Asad had been unaware of her experiences...he had only missed her. So, all he did was remind her of the essentiality of that action, partly justifying himself, partly cursing himself...
Zoya tried backing away...but she gave in again. She wanted to stay angry with him, but despite herself, she could not resist the hold he had over her. The hug that Raziya captured- AsYa lamenting their separation and their fate. And a promise of 7 days was made here.
2. The Haldi Hug: Tannu mediated, as usual😉...she is their best catalyst...a true friend.😆
The situation had changed here. Asad had a taste of their changed status now in Public...the jethji taunts had thrown Zoya more off balance, while it had irked Asad. Zoya had one more thing to worry about now...till now she was someone's bahu and wife...now suddenly Asad was her jethji...a knife through her heart. However, Asad did not get much time to dwell in those terrible sufferances, since he was distracted by the imminent danger to Zoya. He ran to hug her- caught her by surprise. But Zoya realized something had affected him a lot, and she reciprocated the hug, until the passion of the moment devoured them both, robbing them of their presence of minds.
This hug turned out to be very costly for AsYa, since Haseena pointed out the scandalous nature of their actions. Zoya loked at Asad quizzically...why had he hugged her like that? A question that he did not answer for her. The result was an Asad torturing himself over being called her BIL...but the effect on Zoya was far worse. The whole situation had started taking a toll on her, since she was the one living it...and the horror of that allegation staining her honour...it burned a hole through her self respect.
3. The Hospital Hug:
The 7 days were over, but Zoya's ordeal was far from over. Apart from repeated reminders of being Ayan's biwi, and the bahu of the house and the unending blessings from Badi Bi which were really making her more and more nervous now...Ayan collapsed and almost died before her very eyes. Zoya really got scared for Ayan and started behaving quite erratically...and when Asad found her, she was at the end of her wits. Being called and respected as someone's wife for seven days, along with the repeated reminders of the wise old grandmother (who must be quite a lovable old woman, as far as Zoya is concerned, considering she blessed her in all earnesty once before...)...and now her own behavior of screaming to the world that her husband needed help...Zoya broke down. How could things be alright after this? She was in love with one man and married to another...and her marriage was for the whole world to see...Would she go unpunished for trivializing an institution she considered sacred...and worst of all, for the CRIME SHE HAD COMMITTED IN DECEIVING HERSELF...all for the sake of love of one man. How far was she allowed to lose herself in love? All her doubts and misgivings came out as an outburst at Asad- blatantly blaming him for it all...U R the root cause, Mr. Khan...all this happened because of you.
Seeing Zoya in that state of unrest, and angst rattled Asad. He had broken the very woman he strove to protect...and he acknowledged that crime. He promised her this was the end to her troubles...she would have to stay not one more extra moment there...
They were all set...when the family that was a stranger to Asad walked in and claimed Zoya as theirs...another promise made through a beautiful hand gesture, broken this time by a Zoya who felt she could not betray a house at the time their son was in peril. She felt duty bound...another humanitarian concern...and the lovers were tearfully separated again.
4. The SM hug:
By now, AsYa had found their bearings...Ayan had made it crystal clear that Zoya should be back with Asad at all costs...Asad and Zoya waiting to meet each other after just a night more of separation...and Ayan collapsed.
An impatient Asad walked into SM, determined to take his love back, when that love was acknowledged yet again in front of his eyes, as the bahu of that house. And Zoya looked torn between two worlds. He was allowed some moments with her...but they were both treading on unfamiliar grounds. Zoya had the experience of having almost lost Ayan in the back of her mind...the bahu and biwi calls did not matter that much now...but taking Asad to a room she was supposedly sharing with her shauhar...that unnerved her. When he accidentally bumped against her, Zoya behaved like she was a stranger to him...and all through their conversation in the room, she remained that to him. Zoya was simply working the situation out in her mind, and getting all the more confused as to what her priorities should be...
To Asad, it looked like being back with him did not matter as much as the duty she felt towards Ayan, and the house...a husband protests when his wife starts giving more importance to his family, neglecting him...Asad reacted the same way with Zoya. He walked out in anger...hoping she'd show him some sign that he mattered to her as much as she mattered to him.
When she came running, he was sure...Zoya was returning to him...but he was disappointed again. And this time , the disappointment was clearly written on his face...it was not hidden beneath a veil of anger...just plain hurt...that was openly displayed to Zoya..ONE OF THOSE RARE MOMENTS WHEN A MAN LAYS HIS SOUL BARE...SHOWS HIS NAKED EMOTIONS...and Zoya responded to that need she saw...and pulled him into her warmth.
A final promise made?- The one to be fulfilled? I will return in person to take you back...

And now we come to the final stage in the growth of AsYa in this track...what happened when Asad stopped to catch a glimpse of Zoya, and Zoya threw away all her inhibitions to meet him. It does not mean she will disrespect the family that took her in and sheltered her as their own...unless that is absolutely necessary...😉
She was overjoyed to find Asad hoping to catch her...a moment that had to be committed to their memory...and like Ankie says, it was not a hug...just holding hands...but it was the first time AsYa got over the awkwardness of Zoyaan and just behaved as themselves...no tears of separation, no passion of the moment guiding them...everything about that meeting was deliberate, calculated, in full consciousness...
