After all the explanation I could think of, I found the reason today...on rewatch.
Zoya was not looking in Asad's direction when he moved to make place for her...
She was still feeling awkward about taking him to 'HER' room...with Ayan in it..she was lost in her world of worries...and went and sat on the stool next to Ayan, because that is where she sits, now that Ayan occupied teh bed. The dewan was Ayan's and she never sat there...so by habit, she went and sat near Ayan...Also she just averted a major mishap to him, a few minutes back...and must have been feeling guilty about actually leaving him alone...😳.
So, she went and sat there, lost in her own world...and started pouring out her woes to him...to leave or not leave...and finally Asad understood she was having difficulty deciding whether to run away, looking like she cheated on Ayan...and he made that decision for her.
And what bugged him was the fact that she accepted it so easily...Ayan was simply coughing, and she was wasting so much energy on him...he does not know what happened in the morning..he was disappointed and angry that he was no more the only person Zoya thought of...her priorities had changed...and he left.
And when she came running, he thought she'd prove him wrong...that she came for him...unfortunately, it was his mobile...
But Zoya understood, and gave him the hug he yearned for...and...
