As part of my weekend Phd thesis on QH, here is my current inference on where QH might be heading towards.
Although Gul mentioned that this is a family saga/brother's clash, I feel the current scenario points more towards a battle between the hypocrite society vs true love
Let's start from the top...
1. Qazi/Maulvi- Even though their role in society is to guard the rules of their religion and interpret them for the common man, they are really not interested in the welfare of the common man. They don't always interpret the laws the correct way and would never admit to their mistakes.
2. Ghafoor: Has always been a hypocrite. He might cry about his daughters, but in reality he cares about his image in society. He gives lectures on 'deen' but has kept his secret about his love affair with Zainab hidden from the world.
3. Razia: She doesn't hesitate to call other women 'bazaroo' but we she has no qualms about snatching someone else's rights or even murdering the true love of her husband. She will definitely use those photographs to malign Zoya's character in future.
4. Shireen: She doesn't hesitate to insult Dilshaad and her kids but when she needs help for her own dysfunctional kids/free Rashid from jail, she goes begging and expects them to save her kids and husband.
5. Badi Bi: Despite seeing the plight of her own son, a man who has lived in a loveless marriage for 17 years, she is pushing her old fashioned views on 'destiny' and 'nikaah' on Ayaan and Zoya even when she knows how both of them feel about tis alliance.
6. Nikhat: Even though she feels guilty and apologizes to Zoya/Ayaan, in reality she would rather get married (even if it means to a man she doesn't love and a MIL she despises) because she feels nikaah is her ultimate goal in life. Does she really care about breaking her older brother's nikaah?
7. Ayaan: Always the one to take short cuts, had no qualms about asking bhaijaan to lend his dulhan as if she were the latest model of his motorcycle. Even though he has promised to return her back, he has not made any efforts to put his foot down and tell his family the truth about the temporary arrangement. He doesn't mind playing with Zoya and Humeira's feelings but Nikhat's feelings are paramount to him. His whole family hates Haseena bi, so why hide the truth from them?
8. Dilshaad: Yes, she has made it to my list also. I have always had high regard and respect for her but the way she has abandoned Zoya is really appalling. Why can't she call Zoya? Why can't she visit her? Why can't she make it clear to Shireen that her son and his fiancee have made a big sacrifice for Shireen's sake? Has she called aapi and jeeju to notify them about this mess? Isn't she Zoya's guardian?
9. Najma: Her attitude towards AsYa's broken nikaah and this temporary arrangement was quite callous IMO. I have not seen her empathize with Zoya's plight at all. She is more worried about her MIL and busy romancing Imran.
10. Haseena bi and her sons: They are the biggest hypocrites in this game. Her sons have no character, are spineless and in Imran's case a liar, cheater and man with no remorse. She feels that her sons are the most eligible men in Bhopal and the world should revolve around her whims and fancies.
11. Tanveer: NO WORDS! SCUM OF THE SCUM
12. Rashid : He was happily eating breakfast the day after his son made the biggest sacrifice of his life. He laments living a loveless life but has he ever tried to help his son get the love of his life? He never supported Asad during the SR crisis and fails to do so even now.
So, where does it leave Asad and Zoya? The two souls who have messed up their lives for the happiness of others. The two people who really want to be together for the rest of their lives have been forced to stay apart because of the hypocrisy of a long list of players.
And this is not the end- I foresee more problems in future as Asya's characters would be maligned by the likes of Haseena, Razia and Tanveer. What will these poor guys do then? Stay away from each other and suffer (remember the mar jaiyyan holi song sequence where they are forced apart by external forces?)
When we board a plane, they make an announcement- please place the oxygen mask over your face before helping your child/anyone else. Wish AsYa had heeded to that advise. They should have protected their love before they ventured out to fix the problems of the world.
Is that what Gul wants to show? Be selfish, protect your own interests because the society is full of hypocrites who don't deserve your sacrifice of selfless service?
Phew...never knew an Indian serial would tax my brain that much
