It was breakfast time and the Khan household was witnessing yet another fight between Asad and Zoya. This time their fight was being carried over from last night when they had stubbornly not listened to each other and went to bed, both of them still angry over with the other person and in the morning, starting from where they had left off last night.
"Dekhiye, Asad! I don't want to talk about this anymore. You were not there and that is a fact. Just admit that you are wrong. Admit that aapse galti hui hai. That's all I am asking!" said a very upset Zoya.
Asad looked at her incredulously, "Admit? Galti? Zoya it wasn't a mistake! Maine jaan bhoojh ke kuch nahi kiya, okay? I had no idea ke Aapi and Jeeju were arriving last night! I was confused with the discussion of the time and the time zone differences. Come on, Zoya! Why would I intentionally not want to be there to greet them! They are my family too!" Asad tried to reason with his hyper wife.
Both of them continued to go back and forth and meanwhile Najma was sitting at the table, munching her food causally and Dilshad was busy prepping other things in the kitchen. Nothing about the demeanor of the Khan women could say that Asad and Zoya were fighting merely a few meters away from them. It was that regular of an occurrence.
Zeenat and Anwar - reasons for the fight - were however looking at the pair, staring at them screech at each other. While Anwar was staring at them with an amused expression, amazed at their vocal cords with a little worry shining through, Zeenat on the other hand was full-fledged worrying and tensing about what was going on and what Dilshad must be thinking about them!
After a couple of minutes, Dilshad had had enough. From her position in the kitchen, she spoke sternly, "Bass! It's enough now. Chalo, abhi tum dono, sit for breakfast. It was no one's mistake, understand? Just a misunderstanding and an epic lack of communication. We are done talking about it, get it?"
Pouting, Zoya marched away from Asad while he rolled his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. The house suddenly got every quiet; it was like tuning off the television or something of the sort.
Zeenat reached over to Dilshad and quietly asked her, "Um, Dilshad Bi? Sabb khairiyat to hai na? I know that my Zoya can be childish and immature, par yeh ladai? Is everything alright between them?" She sounded very concerned.
Dilshad simply chuckled and shook her head. "Of course everything is fine, Zeenat! Yeh ladai to kuch bhi nahi hai! Happens very often, in fact. In dono ka toh yeh silsila chalta rehta hai." She laughed quietly.
"Par yeh to healthy nahi hai phir in dono ke relationship ke liye, Dilshad Bi. Fighting like this?" Anwar quipped, having heard the conversation.
Dilshad looked over to her children. Asad was now sitting at his usual place and Zoya was straightening things around him. Although both of them were still scowling at each other, now it was less severe. Stubborn kids, she thought. She turned back towards Zoya's worried family.
"Anwar, Zeenat, trust me! There is absolutely nothing wrong, nothing to be worried about. Haan, yeh sach hai ki Asad aur Zoya kaafi jhagadte hain, par usme bhi unka pyaar hi toh jhalakta hai. Abb aaj ka he ka topic le lo. Both of them were fighting to understand each other's point of view and let the other person know what they think about the whole situation. Miscommunication ho jaati hai. While their way of solving those miscommunications may be unconventional, par haan, mere bache samajhdaar hain. Tum log khud dekhna kaise kuch he der mein inki sulha ho jayegi." Dilshad moved towards the breakfast table.
Only half reassured, Zeenat joined everyone at the table. Breakfast was a loud affair with Zoya talking about all of her adventures and reminiscing with her Jeeju about her fun times in New York and chatting up about the recent events in each others' lives.
Soon, Asad go up to freshen up and leave for office. Zoya followed him to their room. Everyone continued with their breakfast and some minutes later, both Asad and Zoya emerged from their room. Just as Dilshad had said, they looked just fine. Judging by their slightly disheveled looks and Zoya's pink cheeks, they were more than fine.
Zoya joined everyone back at the table and proceeded to help clear after breakfast. Anwar went to the guest room, having received a call from New York.
Zeenat looked at Zoya, who was laughing at something along with Dilshad and Najma in the kitchen. She smiled, looking at how well her Zoya had adapted to living in a new country and with her new family. Zeenat felt the knot in her chest loosen and some of her anxiety and tension lifted. Although they often chatted over skype, Zeenat had been harboring worry and unconsciously, she had been fretting over Zoya and how she must have been dealing with her new life.
It relaxed her knowing that her baby was taken care off in her home. However, something still bugged the overactive mind of Zeenat. While Dilshad had tried to soothe her fears, she was still worried about Asad and Zoya's relationship. Anwar and Zeenat had not even arrived more than twelve hours ago and they had already witnessed the couple fighting twice. A mother could never stop worrying, especially if your baby was someone as precious as Zoya who deserved all the happiness that she could get.
Hmmm, maybe some alone time would do them some good! Zeenat thought. After all, every young couple needed some time to themselves, just the two of them. As much as she wanted to spend her time in Bhopal with Zoya, she thought that Zoya and Asad's relationship needed that time more than her and Zoya's reunion. With a firm resolve, she decided to talk to Dilshad and arrange some time alone for the kids.
Never let the romance die, right? If, for blossoming, every young flower needed time and care, then why not young love?
