I think Tannu broke up with him once her use for him was over...and then she came to Bhopal...that means by then Immy had already tried and failed to get the info out of Najma..so he left...lying to Najma...he could not tell her the truth because she would have broken down is front of Asad and Asad would have killed Imraan..so he leaves...saying that he will return..but rarely does he stay in touch..so effectively...he could have been seeing Najma before the engagement...
