I think the nikaah dialogue which has been said from the starting has been highlighted BECAUSE Zoya will never marry unless she has gotten over her past, and she has said that, and she has said this so many times to Asad , its for a reason. He won't let her marry him (whenever the Gaffur truth is out) because she'll be in a dilemma in whom to choose and hence he'll let her go knowing he won't want to bind her.
