Chapter 37 Confusing Thoughts

Asad could not believe what he had done. He had slapped Zoya...Oh My Goodness. He had slapped a girl! His mom will have his hide. She definitely raised him to be a gentleman and gentleman do not hit women. He knew he had to get out there and apologize. He took a deep breath to prepare him for what he would encounter outside. He opened the door and stepped out. All of a sudden he felt a sharp sting on his right cheek. What the..!!

When he could focus, he noticed Zoya looking at him with a smug look.

"What the hell, Ms Farooki. Why did you hit me?" asked Asad.

"Look who's talking?" replied Zoya.

"Ms. Farooki, I am not joking, why did you hit me?" asked Asad once again.

"Well, you hit me and I never asked why you hit me, so I hit you and don't expect you to ask me. End of story, case closed. Move on to something else." replied Zoya smugly.

"So you were taking revenge?" asked Asad.

"Hmm...maybe." replied Zoya vaguely.

"Fine, I guess I deserved it...let's concentrate on keeping watch...You take first watch." said Asad.

"What? I thought you said I could sleep and take watch at 5 am and you would take first watch." argued Zoya.

"Ohh, sorry, i forgot. Fine, go get some sleep." replied Asad.

Zoya turned to walk away when Asad said, "we don't trust Dom so how can we listen to his talks about eliminating the threat. Have you even thought about that?"

Zoya nodded and said, "I have thought about it and I do realize this is difficult but would you rather live in fear than live in peace knowing the threat is gone. Even if something happens to us, at least we died trying and not living in fear."

Asad just stared at Zoya not able to say anything. The thought of Zoya dying was not an option. Instead he said, "I will think about it. Now go sleep and don't forget to take your meds."

Zoya went to the kitchen and got the orange juice out to take her iron meds. She then went to her room to sleep. As she got in bed, she realized her hands were shaking and her ribs were starting to hurt. She thought back to everything that had been going on and realized Asad was right. It was going to be a rather difficult task, trying to take down the Raul's empire but she was willing to try and if that meant she would die, then so be it. She would not live in fear of what the other person would do to her. She had to think about her sister, jeeju, phoophi and Najma who were like her family. After a few minutes, she realized Asad was right. This required further thought because where would they start and if this guy Dom was Raul's guy then he would lead them to Raul and they would be trapped. What to do? Zoya looked at the clock beside her bed and realized it was 3 am already. She had to wake up in two hours. She closed her eyes and did not realize when she fell asleep.
