I agree with this article! I think shades of grey people are important to keep things real. One of the reasons I like Ayaan is that he is grey! He was never perfect and had portrayed many imperfect moments by losing his temper and also making bad decisions in the wake of the same!

I liked Asad for being rigid and judgemental which made him not always likeable and sometimes downright annoying! He even slapped Zoya, so we can agree he is not a total alter boy, despite being religious! He has OCD and is a control freak. Makes him more relatable!

The same reason I liked ASR. He was less than perfect and made MANY less than perfect decisions. He had major anger issues and was vindictive! He was sometimes very selfish in his love for his sister and blinded by it to the detriment of others! (In this case Khushi)! He was the Indian Mr Darcy. A man who was not totally likeable but had elements of gold in him! He was basically a good guy with a bad side! A flawed man. The first Indian "atheist" hero. He was a very modern guy who didn't suffer fools gladly! He was a giant leap in the portrayal of an Indian hero! The furtherest thing from an SP "dikara" you could find! Lol

I think indian tv should present more such characters! Even in females. One reason I like Kumud of SC. She has a massive ego! Has made some hasty decisions that have not served her well. She has spunk, and not a shrinking violet crying at her fate! She puts men in their place if she thinks they are trying to be too smart. Has great self worth! There should be more women like her on Indian TV!

Where as people like Tanveer and Razia are a bit too extreme for my liking and continue to just serve an agenda! They appear to have NO good in them which makes them just unbelievable in general!

QH has leads that are complicated and flawed and they themselves had potential to make one hell of a story.

More than audience, makers are not ready to experiment.

Thank very much for posting this article.
I agree very much with the writer, why is it that in all these soaps they have to show such evil and call it drama, why is it that u can't see a show and have something positive for a change. It is almost like the makers of these show has no imagination or no creativity of their own. You either have a show with kitchen politics or you have a show where lovers are fighting to maintain their relationship because some family member or friend wants to separate them, or a love triangle, these situations are over used, tired and they have become stale.
You know something I was always wondering why is it you have an Indian soap, with a wonderful cast and a good story, but yet still they cannot go the distance, why is that? What is the reason? are they too many shows of the same genre, is the story not living up to it's potential, what is, are they trying to tell us that the viewers are so fickle.
On the other hand if the show do go the distance, there is nothing new, it is almost the same drama and the same nonsense, look at Pavitra Rishta for an example.
Our beloved Qubool Hai is face with the same problem, we have a fantastic cast, a wonder story and one character change the entire dynamic and feel of this show.
If writers sticks to their stories and ignore this trp many of these show will be around for years
