I personally hate this kind of characterization -- In fact, I started watching this soap after seeing its promos, where Zoya was seen making a girl's father agree to her riding a bike-- if boys can, why not girls and all--- And I would say that character is lost in this whole drama of romance, cheating, and rivalry now. The zoya we see today is no more like that.. I agree she has changed a lot for Asad, and which I think happens to anyone in a relationship, and is very much acceptable. But taking all crap that is thrown at you was not acceptable ever. Even if it is fiction.. why would she suffer in silence during the Mehendi fiasco?, and ok, even after that, couldn't she tell her aapi about it, if not anyone else? I know, there are people who view this from a highly romantic angle, she did for the happiness of her family, and all that. But, I simply think it was total crap and incredibly foolish and very much unlike the Zoya I loved.
More than this characterization issue, the whole story line is full of loose ends and bullshit, these days. No one questioned who put the live wire in the bathtub, Asad knows Tanveer is stone-eyed, but does not think it is she who changed the blood samples, during the Sangeet thechandelier fell almost on Zoya, but he announced it was an attempt to murder Tannu (God knows how); zoya found out many things about Tannu, but would not confide in anyone (She does not need to tell Asad, but her Aapi or Jeeju, or Dilshad, or even Rashid would have been fine), and though Tanveer gave every proof of what she is capable of, Zoya was emotionally excited not to think about it seriously? and what not.
The show maintained a very good balance for me, earlier, - between the fictional world and the real one, because of how the plot was projected, the character of Zoya, and Asad's conservative nature. But, alas today, just like any other daily soap, this is just a chain of highly illogical and improbable situations going round and round in the fictional world - with a bunch of loggerheads in. Which Bridegroom in this world, goes to his wedding all alone? Did Asad's character really had to pull that stunt? -- I wonder what was the writers trying to prove by making Asad drive , that too all by himself, to the nikaah venue? (I know, for this lame thing to happen, it had to be like that, but what was the actual point; or there wasn't any, as usual?!)
