Hello! Here's the next part (:
Mangalpur Madness: Part 34
Zoya watched as Asad leaned against the driver's door and faced the road, arms crossed at his chest. She shook her head and she walked by him to lean against the passenger door on his right hand side. She crossed her arms and faced the empty road as well, heaving loudly in an exaggerated sigh. Asad turned to look at her briefly, before turning back to face the front.
"Aap mujhe ignore kyun kar rahi ho?" Asad finally asked, after a moment of silence. He continued staring at the road in front of him, uncrossing and crossing his arms uncomfortably. Zoya looked at him quizzically, a small smile playing at her lips.
"I'm not ignoring you. If I were ignoring you, I wouldn't be talking to you right now," Zoya replied, intentionally behaving like as though she'd missed his point completely. Asad huffed audibly and rolled his eyes upwards before shutting them.
"Fine, aap mujhe avoid kyun kar rahi ho?" Asad probed again, after he had collected his nerves and reopened his eyes. He still chose not to look at Zoya as he asked though, pretty sure that she would be smiling smugly at him.
"Mr Khan, I'm not avoiding you either! In fact, I was the one who followed behind you when you tried to avoid me," Zoya pointed out, her voice tinged with a hint of amusement. Asad was sharp enough to catch that, and he pursed his lips in annoyance.
"You don't let me... touch you," Asad blurted without thinking, and then immediately took a step forward so that Zoya wouldn't catch him cringing. But it was pointless anyway, because Zoya took a step forward as well, and stood right next to him again.
"So? Mujhe pata hai ke gau mein sab ko galafehmi thi ke hum dono ka nikaah ho chuka hai. But we aren't actually married, so I don't see why you should be... touching me. Unless there is a reason, a relationship between us, that you have failed to tell me about," Zoya said confidently, her eyes darting quickly towards Asad's face as she completed her sentence, just in time to catch his scowl.
"Miss Farooqui, aap kehti hai ke aap bohut samajdaar ho. So after, you know... what happened in the jungle just now, I don't think there's a need for me to tell you anything," Asad retorted, irritated with Zoya's attempt at feigning ignorance. She knew exactly what was going on, yet she was egging him on for absolutely no clear reason.
"What's wrong with you Mr Khan?! IT'S CALLED KISSING MR KHAN, WE WERE KISSING. Isn't it ridiculous how you can kiss me so passionately but can't say it aloud thereafter?" Zoya screamed, her patience finally wearing thin. Asad turned to her in shock when she screamed, not expecting the outburst. Zoya gave him a death glare as soon as his eyes caught hers.
"Just like how I have such strong feelings for you but still have such difficulty verbalizing them," Asad murmured, the words tumbling out of his mouth before he could stop them. He looked away immediately, biting his lower lip as he flinched at his own response. He couldn't understand what possessed him to say that. It had to be those eyes of hers. They were so enchanting.
"Kya kaha aap ne?" Zoya whispered as she sidled up to him, still reeling from how pleasantly surprising Asad's words were. She rested her hand on his upper arm, and waited patiently as she felt his tight muscles relax under her touch before he finally gave in and turned to her, his eyes fixed on the ground in between them.
"Zoya, I know what you're thinking, and I know what you want me to say. The thing is... these things don't come to me naturally. Before I met you, a lot of other things didn't come to me naturally either. I was never able to... openly express myself in any way. I was an emotionally detached person. But you changed me Zoya, and now at least I'm able to sometimes express myself through my actions. And I know you want me to be more open verbally as well, but it's something I'm still working on. And I will continue to work on it... for you," Asad struggled to admit, as his eyes slowly traced up to her face and met hers.
Zoya's eyes watered up halfway through Asad's speech, and she suddenly felt horrible for pushing him into a corner like that. This was such a difficult thing for him to do, and instead of helping him through it, she was making it worse. She swallowed in a sob as she crushed her body against Asad's, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her cheek on his chest. Asad's arms automatically wrapped around Zoya's waist, pulling her closer to him, as he closed his eyes and buried his face in her tresses. And in that split second, a rush of immense comfort coursed through both of their bodies, as they got lost in their own little world once again.
