Chapter 9:

A sharp pain in Zoya's back made her wince and sit straight. Her whole body ached and she lifted her head up, trying to adjust to the sunlight that hurt her eyes, making them glint a gorgeous shade of brown. With a small sigh, Zoya stood up but immediately sat back down when she saw Asad sleeping soundly on her bed. She inhaled hard at the innocent sight. He looked at peace but his brows were still furrowed with hurt and what not. Instinctively, her hands reached for Asad's forehead. She massaged it with soft, light presses and smiled when she saw the frown cease. Zoya heard Asad groan and shift a little so she backed away, removing her hands slowly. Asad however caught her wrist and opened his eyes. He grunted when his head hurt a little, but managed to give Zoya a small smile.

Zoya felt her walls crashing down. She could never understand this man. She tried pulling her hand away but Asad kept his hold strong. Zoya pulled harder, not willing to give up. Asad, being as stubborn, drew her closer. With a small gasp, Zoya fell onto him.

Zoya tried pulling herself up but shuddered when she felt Asad put his arms around her waist. She tried getting up again but Asad just constricted her with his hold, using his manliness against her small feminine figure. Zoya lifted her head up, looking at Asad questioningly but Asad had closed his eyes. He brought a hand to the back of Zoya's head and slowly pushed her to the crook of his neck.

Zoya was lost. What was he doing? But she couldn't ignore the fact that it felt so good. So right. She felt like she belonged here. She snuggled in a little closer and inhaled his hypnotic scent, her nose rubbing against his bare skin and her breath tickling him. Asad had started drawing patterns on Zoya's dress and she sighed as her back arched inwards. Zoya was mesmerized by the feel of Asad's skin pressed against her, it caused havoc on her mind and soul. All uncontrolled desires were building up and Zoya knew she had to leave before things got out of control. Just as she slid a little up, she gasped in shock and her cheeks filled with a deep red hue. Asad junior was probing her belly and Zoya simply froze. It felt like she was paralyzed. Asad though was oblivious to what was happening and his eyes were still closed. Zoya stared at him with surprise and threw the mightiest punch she could on his chest.

"Ouch!" yelped Asad, rubbing his chest with one hand and throwing her a questioning look.

"What is wrong with you Ms. Farooqui?" he asked, occasionally wincing at the pain in his head.

Taking her chance, Zoya got off him and the bed. She fixed her kurti that had hitched up a little and tried brushing the feel of him from her skin.

"You! You bloody pervert! Get out of my room! You drunkard. Mr. Khan I swear if you don't leave at this moment, I will call Phuphi!" Zoya grabbed the covers off him and threw it on the ground. Her eyes unconsciously ran along his body and once again she blushed like crazy when she saw his prominent bulge. She turned around and started her screaming again, "Mr. Khan, do you not get it! Leave now!"

Asad had caught her eyes staring at him and he couldn't help but smile a little. He rubbed his eyes and took in the surrounding. He furrowed his brow when his eyes met white walls and blue curtains. Where was he?

He instantly sat up when he realized he was in Zoya's room. What the hell was he doing here? He tried recalling all that happened yesterday and the sunken feeling in his stomach made an appearance. Slowly all that happened last night, repeated in his head and Asad cursed as he gripped the edge of the bed. He had come to tell Ms. Farooqui that she had to leave but instead ended up doing other unimportant things.

Asad stood up to leave but had to sit down due to the pounding in his temple. Asad tried massaging the pain away but it was ineffective. He looked up when he felt a cold feeling on his palm.

Zoya was holding out a glass of water for him with two aspirins in the other hand. Asad murmured a thank you and grasped the glass out of her hands, making sure there was no contact. As soon as he felt a little better, Asad got of the bed and walked towards the door, slowly measuring his steps along the way. He stopped when he heard Zoya say, "Wait, Mr. Khan!"

He stopped right there but did not turn back, he knew Zoya would start throwing questions at him, and he really was not in the mood to talk to her about anything at the moment.

"We have to talk. But not now. I'll meet you in the garden tonight." She held the door open for him and avoided his discerning stare. Right after Asad stepped out of the room, Zoya shut the door on his face and wiped her tears.

*********************************************************************************************************************

The rest of the day was quite uneventful. Zoya spent the whole morning cleaning up the mess Asad had made in her room and cursing him every time her eyes fell on her broken music box. When she couldn't stand the sight of it anymore, she took the broken pieces and tied them in a scarf. She hid the bundle safely in her closet.

"Kya pata Mr. Khan ko kab phirse mere room ko kabad khana banane ka man kare." She shook her head and got back to her work.

Asad however was having a complicated day. He had work piled up but could not get his head straight to do anything. He just sat on his table, tugging at his hair and drank his fifth cup of black coffee.

He knew he had to ask Zoya to leave. He would never accept anyone from that family. Even though she didn't live with them, she had their blood running in them. It would give him a reason to justify his hate against her. No, he could not hurt her anymore. And he could not accept her either. She had to leave. He would do anything to make her leave, even if it meant hurting her more. He would even tell her that she was related to the family he despised with all his heart. He was going to let her go.

His train of thought was interrupted when his secretary came in and said "Sir, there's a call for you from your house."

"Yes, okay. Transfer it." Asad picked his mobile phone up and groaned when he saw the battery was dead. No wonder they called the office.

After two rings, Najma picked the phone and in a scared and worried voice said, "Bhaijaan, Ammi-Ammi Bhaijaan!"

Asad's whole body tensed up and he gripped the phone harder. "What happened to Ammi, Najma?"

"Bhaijaan, she's unconscious! Zoya called the doctor but I think you should come home Bhaijaan please- please come home now!" Najma broke into a sob and hiccupped a little.

"Look Tamatar. Calm down. Maybe Ammi's blood pressure was low. But don't worry. I'll be there in a minute." Asad stood up and wore his coat in a hurry. He gave his orders to the manager and dashed out of the office into his car.

His house was eerily silent when he entered. Since Zoya had lived in his house, he barely came home and found it so dark and quite. He heard some shuffling in Ammi's room so he dropped his bag on the sofa and ran towards the room.

Zoya, Najma and the doctor were sitting quietly beside a sick Dilshad. Asad's felt an ache in his throat when he saw his Ammi in that condition. He walked to her slowy, trying to make as less sound as possible. Dilshad turned her head when she saw her son and forced a smile which made her face hurt. Her hand was engulfed in Zoya's and she tried to use it as support to sit up but eventually gave up when everyone asked her not to bother.

"Ammi you don't need to sit up. I'm here Ammi, how are you feeling?" Asad asked taking her hands from Zoya's and not missing the sight of her bruised wrists.

He shot her an apologetic look and Zoya simply ignored him and but her hands in her lap. Asad then turned his attention to his mother, who looked so weak and frail that Asad couldn't even bring himself to say anything.

"Mr. Asad Khan, you see your mother has been taking too much stress lately and it's causing a bad effect on her health. Even her blood pressure is too low. You have to take care of her. See to all her needs and make sure she eats properly." The doctor started packing his equipment into his briefcase and got up to leave.

"Oh and I have prescribed some medicine. The list is with Mrs. Khan. So see to it that you give her her medication at the time suggested. I shall take my leave." Turning to Dilshad, he said "Take care of yourself ma'am and do take the medicines." He bid everyone farewell and left the room, guided by Asad.

"Where is the list Ammi?" Asad asked once he returned to the room. Dilshad pointed towards Zoya and Asad stared at her in shock. Hadn't the doctor said Mrs. Khan?

He groaned internally and put his hands out, asking Zoya to give him the list.

"I can go get the medicines myself." Zoya said, getting up to leave. Asad let her walk out and once she had reached the hallway, he followed and grabbed her wrists.

Zoya winced lightly and Asad look at the poor sight below. Her wrists had bluish-green marks all over. He dropped her hands like he had touched fire. He masked his concern and turned by the shoulder, making her face him.

"Give me the list Ms. Farooqui."

"No. I won't. I'm capable of getting the medicines."

Asad was clearly irritated but he kept his calm and asked again, "Ms. Farooqui, I'll send the driver. You don't have to go anywhere."

Zoya snickered sarcastically and said, "Just last night you said I have to leave and now you're saying I don't have to go anywhere. Who are you Mr. Khan? Why can't you get your head straight?"

Asad was speechless, he shuffled around his feet and brought his hand to his collar. Just as he was thinking of something witty to say, Asad remembered who Zoya actually was. Whose daughter she was. He suppressed the fire burning in his body and moved closer to Zoya.

He moved his head to her ear and whispered with fury in his voice, "Ms. Farooqui, you still need to leave. You have no place in this house or my heart. As soon as Ammi gets well, we'll tell her this marriage is off. So you better start making plans. Saying this, he snatched the paper from her hands and left a broken Zoya behind.

I think I'm making Zoya cry too much and Asad's character is so confused. Grhh
I think its time to make Asad cry, right?
