List of mental disorders
This list is incomplete ; you can help by expanding it .
The following is a list of mental disorders as defined by the
DSM and ICD .
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM) is the American Psychiatric Association 's standard
reference for psychiatry which includes over 400 different
definitions of mental disorders. The International Statistical
Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) is
published by the World Health Organization , and it contains a
section on psychological and behavioral disorders. The
diagnostic criteria and information in the DSM and ICD are
revised and updated with each new version. This list contains
conditions currently recognised descriptions of mental disorders
as defined by these two documents.
There is disagreement in various fields of mental health care ,
including the field of psychiatry , over the definitions and criteria
used to delineate various disorders. Of particular concern to
some professionals is whether some of these conditions should
be classified as ' mental illnesses ' at all, or whether they would
be better described as neurological disorders , or in other ways.
Some items listed are ultimately removed: homosexuality was
originally listed in the DSM, but was removed when the
American Psychiatric Association officially stated that
"homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgment,
stability, reliability, or general social or vocational capabilities".

on Star plus channel. Barun then essayed the character of Dr
Yuvraaj Singh (Raj) in popular youth show Dill Mill Gayye,

Career
Barun Sobti made his acting debut with the family and faith
oriented daily soap Shraddha on STAR Plus channel. It was his
first major role on television wherein he played the male lead
Swayam Khurana. His co-star was Neha Janpandit. He later
appeared in a cameo role in the popular teen television
romance Dill Mill Gaye, where he played a negative role of
patient Raj Singh, in rehabilitation for drug abuse. Sobti left the
show as he got the opportunity to play the lead role in a show
called Baat Hamari Pakki Hai to portray the character Shravan
Jaiswal.
After that, he was offered the role of the male protagonist in
STAR Plus' Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? which eventually
earned him an unparalleled fandom and popularity . In the
show, he played the role of Arnav Singh Raizada, a cruel,
stonehearted and uncouth business tycoon who does not
believe in love or god until meeting his soulmate, Khushi Kumari
Gupta. The show first premiered on June 6, 2011, but faced an
abrupt ending on November 30, 2012, as Sobti decided to
depart from the show due to health and personal issues.
The response from fans on Sobti's exit from the daily soap was
pathbreaking, leading to numerous public announcements from
the actors, production house and channel. For the first time in
the history of Indian television, a show was shut down with the
departure of an actor from a show. The channel, Star Plus,
publicly and controversially broadcasted their statement that
Sobti's exit was the sole reason for the closure of the show
during the soap's last few days on air.
His performance and onscreen chemistry with co-star Sanaya
Irani has won him numerous awards, critical fame and has
garnered him a household name. Today, Sobti is often referred
to as "The Golden Boy of Indian Television." He has also
hosted the 2011 Star Parivaar Awards and performed in the Star
Parivaar Live Event 2012 in Birmingham, UK . The reception
Barun and his co-star from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
received was phenomenal; overseas, no other Indian TV actors
have enjoyed fan frenzy of this magnitude.
Sobti's first Bollywood film Main Aur Mr. Riight has completed
shooting and is currently in post filming. The film is said to
hopefully be released in July 2013. Recently after the ending of
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? , Sobti has signed his second
film, with the tentative title, 22 yards , based on the overlooked
and unknown conspiracies of the cricket world.
Furthermore, Barun Sobti was the only television actor to be
featured in the "20 Most Intriguing People of 2012" list by
People magazine India.
