read many comments regarding the confusion . so thought to reply.

I am an Indian muslim and yes rashme saugaat happens in our tradition. Actually what different regions have different customs that they perform during marriage.

So here we go,

Rashme saugaat is the first ceremony of 6-7 day long marriage ceremony. In Rashm-i-saugaat groom family send saugaat (gifts and all ) specially the outfit or dress for bride that she has to wear in haldi ka rasm. and vice versa.so basically they exchange gifts and special shagun for haldi day.

in this night everyone enjoys and groom sends some gift for the bride. And with this marriage ceremonies start.sometimes if dulha also comes along with others .

and even they send many other things like bangles,gold jewellery, make up kit etc for haldi day and vice versa.
