It's almost like he doesn't want to be happy, it's like he just wants to stay in his own little safe bubble even if it means that he will never fully experience the joy of life. Which is sad because everyone has gone through pain in their life but that shouldn't mean you shut yourself off to happiness, living a life full of sadness is not a life worth living and Asad is setting himself up for the biggest misery of his life.

I couldn't agree more! It seriously feels like he's not even TRYING! And plus, happiness is a CHOICE not something you just GET. And like esha pointed out above, will he have this stand against every potential bride or only the one woman he's in love with?

I still fail to understand Asad, does he have these issues of him being just like Rashied only with Zoya or with any woman he is gonna get married to ???
If Asad keeps thinking like this maybe it's better if he remains unmarried his entire life and he doesn't have to be afraid to hurt anyone

That's another thing I don't understand, Asad doesn't have an issue with marriage but he has an issue with love. So he doesn't want to fall in love in the fear that he will hurt the girl like his father hurt his mum (who he claimed to love) okay, let's say I understand that. But shouldn't him getting married to a girl he doesn't love entitle the same thing, there's a high chance of him hurting that girl too. If anything Asad should refuse to get married as well.

You know, I just don't understand his logic.

Asad's just coming up every excuses in the book to 'push' zoya away but none of these excuses are valid. Argh! he's so complicated.

My theory is that he believes that he can be faithful, respectful, responsible towards a woman, can do all the duties of a husband but not give love. So, he is okay with getting married with a girl whom he doesn't love, and can have a life with her (read boring, monotonous, emotionally detached life). I would say very presumptive of him that any woman even if it is not Zoya would want a loveless marriage, even if it looked perfect outside.

But, he is afraid to love, because he believes if he loved the person, got emotionally involved with her, he will end up hurting his woman.

So, Zoya is his exception whom he loves and that's why he is afraid to hurt her.

Any other woman, he wouldn't love, so wouldn't be able to hurt.

Convoluted thinking of this man! 😔

If that is what he actually thinks then that man is an ajooba.

There is more chances of him being unfaithful to a girl that he doesn't love than the one he does. I'm not saying that he can't be unfaithful to Zoe, he could if he chose to - Rashid chose to cheat on Zoe, no one held his hand and made him do it, similarly the only way Asad could hurt Zoe is if he chose to hurt her.

It all comes down to choices to be honest.

and if he honestly thinks that he won't hurt his future wife by binding her in a loveless marriage then he's clinically insane.

When it comes to hurting another person, it doesn't equate to cheating/being unfaithful. You can hurt someone in many ways. The way he hurts Zoya every now and then. I can't figure out what exactly he means by hurting woman in his life, but I personally feel it can't involve cheating. He is incapable of doing that.

It all comes down to choices to be honest.

Of course, but he thinks being Rashid Ahmed Khan's son, he is wired wrong and isn't left with any choice.

and if he honestly thinks that he won't hurt his future wife by binding her in a loveless marriage then he's clinically insane.

Agreed! This guys needs a shrink. As I said, it is too presumptive of him that a woman wants loveless marriage. But again, in reality there are marriages which are not based on love, but mutual respect and a sense of doing one's duty. People end up living their entire lives this way and they are ok with it. Asad has resigned himself to such a fate.

All in theory.

He should be able to love Zoya 100 times more than Rashid did Dilshad, because he witnessed how it was for his ami to be in that situation. Rashid doing what he did should encourage Asad to never do that to anyone that he loves. His father's mistake should be motivation to not repeat that mistake.
