Chapter 8
Precap: Asad and the family are all enjoying a happy day. Dilshad comes down to tell the family that they have to go to nikaah today night. Zoya and Najma go shopping for clothes they come home and get ready to leave. Asad sees Zoya and is mesmerized by her beauty they eventually leave to go and Zoya is walking around and chatting when Asad sees her chatting with a stranger. Asad gets jealous and walks up to the stranger and tells him that she's his fiance. Zoya takes Asad away from there. Meanwhile Shireen and Dilshad are having an argument. Najma brings Zoya and Asad and they see Dilshad say that Asad would marry in ten days. Dilshad says stuff to Raziya about her daughter and her bad deeds and Raziya is about to slap Dilshad but Zoya stops her and tells her off. Everyone is shocked, the Khan family leaves with Zoya taking Dilshad away they forget about Tanveer who is fuming and planning her next move to get rid of Zoya.
The car ride back home was very silent. No one even noticed that Tanveer was missing. Asad was sitting in front alone as Zoya was in the back seat with his ammi and sister comforting them after what had happened at the function. Asad kept stealing glances at Zoya was sitting there and comforting his sister who was silently sobbing and his ammi who had silent tears streaming down her face. The car pulled in front of the Khan Mansion and slowly Dilshad, Najma, and Zoya made their way out of the car. Asad came around and noticed that they were already half way to the door. As they entered the house Dilshad went and sat down on the couch. Zoya went to sit next to her and took her hands in hers. Dilshad turned around to look at Zoya through tears. Dilshad was still processing what had happened. She did not expect Raziya to try and slap her. So many questions ran through her mind which she didn't have answers for…
Why did she accuse of Black magic? I could never hurt her kids. And Raziya tried to slap me. What would have happened to me if she did slap me? She didn't even hesitate in front of family members. And Rashid didn't even say anything he just stood there quietly watching as a mute spectator. Ya Allah I have to get Asad married in ten days no matter what.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard Zoya's voice. She turned to look at Zoya and saw pain, concern, sadness, hurt, and anger in her eyes. She realized that this girl loved her just as a daughter would a mother. She was relived at the fact that Zoya had stood up for her and had saved her from being slapped in front of all the society. Raziya and Haseena would have made a laughing stock out of her. She was grateful for having Allah bring Zoya into their lives. She knew she was such a selfless and kind hearted girl and would do anything to protect her loved ones.
Zoya: "Phupi are you okay?"
Dilshad: "Beta don't call me Phupi okay call me ammi. What you did for me today is something I can never forget and never thank you enough for. You saved me from such humiliation from Raziya beta. I am indebted to you. Thank you so much beta if you were not there I don't know what would have happened to me. What you did for me today lets me know that you are no more a guest in this house but you are a part of this family this is your family okay beta and I am so happy that you also consider us as family. I love you so much beta."
Dilshad said what she had to say and when she looked up at Zoya she saw that her eyes were brimming with tears as one lone tear fell she wonder as to why she was crying.
Dilshad: "Beta why are you crying?"
Zoya: "Phupi you know I lost my ammi when I was only 3 years old. I never had the love of my ammi and I never knew how she was or what it would be like to have the love of an ammi. But today you have showed me and made me realize what it feels like to have the love of an ammi. Thank you so much ammi for accepting me as a member of this family. And besides what I did for you was no favor it's what a daughter did for her ammi to make sure she doesn't suffer at the hands of such people. I know ammi that you are such a pure soul and that you could never do anything that those people were accusing you of doing. An ammi I don't want you to thank me for this it's what family does for each other they look out for one another and protect their loved ones. And ammi if you consider me as a daughter you don't have to indebted to me. You have done so much for me that I cannot possibly thank you enough. You took care of me, gave me a place to stay, gave me a sister and a best friend, you also gave me the love of a mother and you made me feel special and happy. I know now for a fact if my ammi where still here she would exactly like you.
Hearing all this come from Zoya made Dilshad so happy. She had never expected for Zoya to be this strong after what she went through and also what Raziya just did to her the other day. Dilshad felt happy to have Zoya in her life. She knew Zoya was special and she was exactly what her family needed to change their boring, sad filled lives with such light, happiness, and joy that they hadn't experienced in over 17 years. She knew that Zoya was just perfect inside and out she had the purest soul ever, she was just an innocent child that suffered a horrible childhood but she knew that her troubles wouldn't last long.
What Dilshad and Zoya did not realize is that the whole time Asad was watching the bonding of his ammi and Ms. Farooqui. He didn't even see the slap coming he felt so grateful that Zoya had stopped Raziya from slapping his ammi. He knew if she did then he would have lost it and his anger would have got the best of him. He wouldn't have been able to bear the insult that his ammi received and he just stood there and just watched everything play out. He felt very proud today with how Zoya had handled the situation he wasn't at all mad that she had threatened Raziya just for his ammi's sake and swore to protect this family from her wrath. He knew that she cared for his ammi and sister but what he didn't realize till now was that she loved his family as if it was her own and she respected his ammi just as much as he had respected and loved his ammi.
Asad (thinking to himself): "I have to thank Miss Farooqui for what she did today for my ammi. But how that he didn't know"
Just as Asad was about to go walk to the kitchen Dilshad got up and called him.
Dilshad: "Asad beta can you please come here we need to talk."
Asad walks over to his ammi…
Asad: "Ji ammi, what is it that you need to talk about."
Dilshad: "Asad you have to save my honor and respect. You have to help me keep my promise. Asad you have to get married in 10 days. For your ammi's sake please Asad.
Asad: Dekhiye ammi I know this is a rushed decision so please go take some rest and we will talk about this in the morning.
Dilshad: "No Asad you will get married and that is my final answer you cannot and will not change my decision.
Asad: "Ammi I never said I wouldn't get married it's just that I don't want you to rush into this. Don't worry about what others think, there opinion and views don't concern us so why do you have to do this. And besides how will you find a bride for me in 10 days. It's just impossible it can't happen."
Dilshad: "Asad your nikaah will take place in 10 days and also to the person that you love."
Asad: "Love? But ammi I don't love anyone. How can you say that?"
Dilshad: "Asad beta look at me and tell me that you don't love Zoya? I see how you look at her, how protective you are of her and how much you care for her. I know that you love her I see love for her in your eyes beta please beta tell me that you love Zoya."
As Dilshad was questioning Asad about his feelings for Zoya, Zoya couldn't help but turn expectantly at Asad and wait for his answer eagerly. He didn't know what to say or how to answer his mother's question. He saw Zoya standing just behind him looking tensed. His ammi kept asking him but he was having an internal struggle with is brain and heart. His heart told him to say yes to his ammi, but his heart told him to say no because he would just hurt Zoya. So he just decided to stand there saying nothing.
Dilshad grabbed Asad by his arm and turned him towards his ammi and asked him to look her in the eyes and tell her that he didn't love or care for Zoya. While all this was happening no one realized that they had another pair of eyes on them and watching then intently and very tensely. She had to do something really quickly before Asad spoke his heart out to his ammi. She quickly ran to the door and banged it open. Everyone's head turned towards the door to see who the intruder was. They saw Tanveer approaching them and walked up to Dilshad to do some damage control.
Tanveer: "Khala, I am sorry for interfering in this but I think I should since Jammy is not answering any of your questions. Khala I have known Jammy for a long time and I understand him really well. I know his likes and dislikes. And Khala I just want to let you know that Jammy does not love Zoya. At this Asad had turned his face towards Tanveer horror stricken to hear what words were coming out of her mouth. Khala Jammy's silence tells you everything that he doesn't love Zoya because if he did then he would have told me about it and he would have definitely spoken up about it right now. Dilshad turned to Asad to look at him Zoya looked heartbroken.
Dilshad: "Asad is what Tanveer saying true? Do you not love Zoya?"
Asad didn't say anything but just decided to walk off to his room. Dilshad sighed and looked at Zoya cupped her face gave her a kiss on the forehead and went to her room she knew for a fact that Asad loved Zoya but he just didn't want to admit it. She decided she would think of something and find a way to unite the two with the help of Najma. As Dilshad left Tanveer also left the living room smirking as she had accomplished what she wanted to. Zoya stood there for a while thinking about what just had happened and then slowly went to her room.
Tanveer made her way to her room and decided to put her plan into action to get rid of Zoya but how she didn't know yet. She turned to get water but realized that the jug was empty she made her way back down to the kitchen to get water. As she was passing by she say Zoya grabbing her stuff getting ready to go and take a bath. That's when the idea hit her she quickly ran up to her room to grab a grey box. She took out the wires and careful tucked them behind the puts and dropped the wire into Zoya's bathtub. She went to the circuit breaker and put the raw wire to the other end. She smirked to herself and walked near Zoya's bedroom for when she would die.
Tanveer: "Now once she's dead no one will even suspect me they will think that it was an accident.
Zoya was in the bathroom lost in her thoughts of what Tanveer had said to Phupi. She felt sad but then it was replaced with confusion since she didn't understand Mr. Khan's behavior at the nikaah. He was jealous for sure and she knew that. She saw how he acted when she was talking to that guy and he also said that she was his fiance. Now would he do that thought Zoya. She was too busy thinking that she didn't realize that the live wire was in the bathtub that was almost filled with water.
Asad walked around in room flustered thinking about what his ammi had just talked to him about. He understood that there were some strong unsaid feelings between him and Zoya but neither of them dares to think of it. Asad thought it would be best for Zoya for him to stay away from her because all he would do is cause her pain. He didn't believe in love and knew if he married Zoya he would hurt her just like Rashid Ahmed Khan had hurt his ammi which he didn't want. He noticed the lights flickering in his room but he brushed the thought off. As he started pacing his room again the lights flickered again he decided to go check and came across the wire which was leading to Zoya's bathroom. He bent down to look at it and realized that the wire was leading to Zoya's bathroom and Zoya was about to go take a bath. He quickly got up and sprinted to her room. As he was running to her room flashbacks of mangalpur came in his mind as he saw Zoya's lifeless body lying in the ground and not responding to him. Something in him broke and he ran faster. He couldn't and wouldn't let anything happen to her he had to make sure she was safe. He busted into her room and he saw Zoya slip from the sudden noise and heading for the water about to fall in. He quickly grabbed her and pushed her towards the wall. To say Zoya was shocked was an understatement she was bewildered by Mr. Khan's actions. Asad grabbed the wire from the bathtub and flung it out of there. He ran to Zoya and pulled her into a big hug.
Zoya was shocked at Asad and what he had just done. First he barged into her room then her bathroom when she was about to go take a bath then he runs up to her and hugged her. And he would always talk to me about manners and what not. Zoya couldn't process anything of what just happened and stood there shocked while asad just hugged her. she felt his breath on the nape of her neck and it sent shivers down her spine. Asad buried his face into her hair and took in her scent. She smelt like heaven that's all that he could think off. Just then he felt Zoya fidgeting in his embrace and he pulled back.
Zoya: "Mr. Khan what is this do you not have any respect! You always lecture me about manners but look at what you are doing right now!"
She kept blabbering and that's when Asad decided to finally shut her mouth.
Asad: "ZOYA! Will you just be quiet for a bit and listen to me!"
Zoya immediately went silent. Asad walked up to the bath tub and pulled up the wires. Asad explained to her what could have happened if she fell into the bath tub if he didn't come in time. Zoya's face fell and she felt guilty for yelling at Asad. Asad turned to walk out but Zoya grabbed his hand as he paced her. He stopped as he felt her hand grip his.
Asad: "Miss Farooqui please just let me go."
Zoya: "No Mr. Khan, please look at me."
Asad slowly turned to look at her. When he looked up to her face he saw tears in her eyes.
Asad: "What do you want Miss Farooqui?"
Zoya looked in his eyes and saw that he was just as scared as she was. Without Asad knowing it the next second Zoya slammed into Asads body and was hugging him. Asad was shocked at what she did he slowly brought his hands up and hugged her back with equal force just as she was doing.
Zoya: "Asad thank you so much. You saved my life again. I am sorry that I yelled at you, please forgive me I didn't mean to hurt you.
Zoya silently sobbed on Asad's chest. Asad pulled back a little to see Zoya's face she looked sorry and guilt was written all over her face. Asad took his hand to lift Zoya's face towards his. He wiped her tears away and shoke his head in a no to tell her to stop crying. He pulled her back in for a hug, her hands clutched his shirt and his chin was resting on her head. He moved and placed a kiss on her forehead and when he did Zoya gasped and clung to him even with more force. Asad started to stroke her hair to calm her down and then he spoke.
Asad: "Zoya its okay you don't have to be sorry. It was a silly misunderstanding. Don't worry about it. What matters most is that you're okay. If anything would have happened to you I would have gone crazy!"
Zoya slowly stopped sobbing as Asad had finally calmed her down and she silently stood in his arms and listened to what he had to say. She pulled back and gave him a watery smile and he smiled his rare dimpled smiles and walked her to her bed to get her to rest.
Asad: "If you need anything let me know okay Zoya."
Zoya: "Okay Asad"
And with that Asad left her in her room and went back to his room. What he didn't realize is that during this whole time he had an audience watching him and Zoya. Tanveer was boiling with anger she realized that Asad had foiled her plans and she didn't die. Dilshad and Najma also stood in the corner with big smiles on their faces as they realized that both shared the same feelings for each other and loved each other but just didn't want to admit it. Dilshad and Najma retired to their rooms thinking now that there task was even easier.
Asad went to his room and changed into his kurta. He tried to work but couldn't so he decided to go get coffee as he entered the kitchen he bumped into a small soft body. Zoya was about to fall and was awaiting the impact for the cold hard floor but then she felt a pair of muscular hands wrapping around her waist pulling her into a hard chiseled body. She knew very well whose body it was. She looked up to Asad and muttered a small thank you and as she looked up she was lost in his deep brown colored orbs. It looked like a never ending ocean she was lost in the moment that both Asad and Zoya did not see his ammi, Najma, and Tanveer enter the kitchen. Asad was lost in Zoya's big almond like eyes that he didn't realize that his ammi and sister and best friend watching him with Zoya clinging to his body with both of them looking each other lovingly.
Dilshad and Najma cleared their throats which brought Zoya and Asad back from there daze. He both sprinted apart from each other as if they would catch on fire if they stayed entangled in each other's embrace any longer. Zoya looked down as she was blushing a crimson red color being caught in a situation like that with Asad. Asad tried to justify himself as to what had happened.
Asad: "Woh…woh actually ammi the thing is that Miss Farooqui was about to fall so I had grabbed her…"
Dilshad: "It's okay beta you don't have to justify yourself I never asked for an explanation.
Najma: "By the way Zoya why is your face so red? Did you eat something spicy or did you just put on to much blush. (Najma in a teasing tone)
Zoya: "Woh it's nothing Najma. Um I have to go get some water."
As she ran for the kitchen Najma started to laugh out loud. Tanveer also walked into the kitchen with Zoya and asked if she was okay. Dilshad went up to Asad and grabbed his hand to get his attention.
Dilshad: "Asad your nikaah will take place in 10 days and I have found my bahu."
Asad: "Theek hai ammi, who is the girl," Asad said hesitantly.
Dilshad: "Asad you know this girl and you also love her."
Dilshad started to walk towards Zoya and Tanveer who were standing together in the kitchen. Tanveer was happy as she thought Dilshad would pick her since she had told her that Asad did not love Zoya. As she started to walk towards Dilshad, Dilshad reached out her hands and cupped Zoya's face and said, "Asad you will marry Zoya, she will be my daughter-in-law"
Tanveer was so upset that she almost ripped her churni which she was yanking at. Asad was shocked he tried to change his mothers mind but she was adamant on her decision. She finally declared that in 10 days Asad would marry Zoya and that nothing would change her mind and that her word was final.
Zoya didn't know how to feel if she should be happy to be getting married to her Jahanpana six packs or if she should be sad about it. She brushed the thought of and went to her room quietly and closed her door but this didn't go unnoticed form Asad as he was worried that something was wrong and bothering Zoya. He was surprised that she didn't stay back to tease him or question him about his ammi's decision. He wanted to go talk to her but then decided against it and went to his room.
Tanveer saw what happened and was mad as hell she had to now somehow deal with Zoya and Asad's engagement and make sure that their nikaah gets called off and is broken. With that thought in mind she ran up to her room to quickly start planning her next move to try and separate Zoya from Asad and to also get rid of her forever from this world.
