*Ayaan informs Asad about the picture Razia has framed and who is Siddiqui in the picture - turns out that he is Zoya's father. Asad is pretty shocked and disturbed by the news as to who Zoya's daughter has turned out to be and wonders about the secret behind Siddiqui's past and how he has presented himself as such a virtuous man but he holds back from venting his anger.
*Asad contacts Siddiqui and informs him that he has a guest in his house who happens to be his daughter and has been searching for her.
*Zoya is upset on Monday's episode because she has only a few days left before she has to leave - her visa has now expired and she is at a loss.
*Asad informs Zoya about who her father is.
*Siddiqui tells his wife about what Asad has said. She is against the idea of him meeting with her, Zoya. She fills his mind with the dangers of inviting her into his life...how he has worked hard to maintain a good standing and reputation and then bringing her into their lives with ruin all they have done. And then, how will they explain what happened to her mother? At this point it is apparent that Siddiqui knows that the woman IS Zoya's mother.
*Asad informs Zoya thinking Siddiqui will accept her has his daughter and arranges for him to come to the house...he has his mother, Najma and Tanveer go somewhere for the evening but does tell his mother what he found out. He explains to her that regardless of how Siddiqui has been to them, for Zoya they should at least invite him. Dilshaad is shocked and saddened to learn that Siddiqui is her father as she deserves better. She is also astonished that a man of such standing would have a secret past. However, she has too much class to use that against him to seek vengeance.
*Siddiqui comes to Asad's house with the intent to meet with Zoya but he is hesitant to admit he is the father...Asad leaves Zoya with him and tells her he wil be in his room if he needs her.
The scene can play out in several ways
*Siddiqui admits he is the father; he does not embrace Zoya but advises her to back to the US. He cannot have a relationship with her because he has worked hard to maintain a standing for himself and his family. His past was his past; he did not want to have a relationship with her mother and that it is better they move on with their lives.
*Siddiqui denies that she is his daughter; it was a mistake and that he knew her father and he is dead (but I hesitate this will happen) and when Zoya brings out the musical box his face gives it away.
*[Unsure if the writers will go here' up in the air about this idea] Siddiqui also finds out that she does not know her real mother's name - yes, it is apparent that while we think that she lived in New York, she was in fact a foreign student and the name Zoya has is not the real name...we now have another mystery...Zoya not knowing who her real maternal family is either...we tend to assume that a paternal family is important but a maternal family is equally important...
*Siddiqui leaves and Asad asks her what happened. Zoya is full of tears; she is sobbing and says some of the following: "that her father did not want her," "that she was definitely flawed as a daughter that her father would not want her" "that she didn't deserve a family" "that she has a half sister and her father didn't even think she was good enough to meet with him" Zoya is completely broken and beating herself up (not literally) that she is not a good enough to have been accepted by her father and Asad is furious and is ready to leave to beat up Siddiqui and Zoya stops him and begs for him not to do anything and that the flaw is with him and she understands that her father's reputation will be ruined and that the fault is hers. Asad is devastated at Zoya's state and we get the classic Mitwa moment where he grabs and embraces her...he comforts her and whispers that he is a wonderful person and that his father is blind not see that he has a beautiful daughter who is smart, intelligence, warm hearted and funny. That he has a daughter who is willing to think of others and not herself - who is forgiving and respectful and even a awful shayaris make her endearing. The words expressed are more how Asad sees Zoya but on the surface he is simply trying to uplift her spirits.
*Zoya continues to sob not realizing that it is Asad who is comforting her - she is to broken to realize it. And then Asad in comforting her kisses her hair and forhead and a teary Zoya and him look at each other and he's about to go into kissing her lips and then stops and says, I'm sorry I didn't and walks to his room horrified at what just happened. In his room you see a confused, scared and mortified Asad who is torn between going back outside and comforting Zoya and one who forces himself to stay inside - the hypocritical and fearful Asad who thinks he will hurt Zoya further and his family if he invites her further into his lives...he is like Siddiqui worried about his own superficial reputation.
*The evening is too much for Zoya; she goes to her room and calls her Jiju and tells him that she has a ticket ready to leave...she announces that evening to the family she is leaving that morning. A lot of tearfulness and sadness. Dilshaad and Asad talk about the evening events and Dilshaad asks Asad that is there nothing he can do to help her stay? She just cannot leave like that so heartbroken; she wants to talk to Rashid - she wants to try to do something...Zoya has a home, a step-mother - might not be the best and a sister, Humaira. She has a right to know them, meet them and perhaps they can convince Siddiqui. Dilshaad has faith.
*Asad goes to his room; he picks up the earing and rolls it between his fingers and he recalls all the moments he had with Zoya - you see tears and laughter and then you see he remembers the baang night and him calling her a misfit. "Zoya you are a misfit in my life but in my heart." He puts the earing back in the drawer and then you see him look at some papers but you don't know what type of papers...you get the impression he is going to do something to make sure Zoya stays...Asad had already done something LONG before Zoya was supposed to leave.
*Tanveer and Zoya meet; she wants to say good-bye to her and they talk. She encourages Zoya to leave, to go back to New York and find someone...she said she has found someone herself and that person has found her and then life is going to be beautiful with that person because he has expressed how he feels about her...she said she will let her know who that person is soon but it is a secret...then she talks about her friendship with Asad and "rubs it in to Zoya's already very raw wounds"
*Tanveer then goes to Asad's room; she talks about her factory and the related financial problems she is experiencing and that these problems are minor compared to what is going with Zoya...she then tells him that her father is sick and that she fears losing him and starts to cry...she says this in the door way and makes sure it is open. Asad gives her a friendly hug and at that moment Zoya opens her bedroom door and sees Asad hugging Tanveer...Zoya closes the door...she's broken.
*Zoya is broken - her monologue captures what she wanted in life - a home, a family. Zeenat and her family have been very supportive but it is revealed they are not her blood relations and that her mother lived with them...and that she was "adopted" and that they did not reveal to her who her mother's real family is...Zoya had hoped for a real family and that it would mean the world to her to have her own home where she felt she belonged. She had even thought for a few moments that she belonged with Dilshaad and Najma but she was a fool...and that Mr. Khan would never see her as more than an annoying guest in his house whom he would be glad to see leave.
*Zoya leaves for the airport; Asad is not there in the morning. Tanveer has gone on business for the day (she is actually meeting up the Razia to get her $$$ or rupees). It is a very teary moment with Zoya thinking back to all her fun times...before she leaves, she looks at Asad's bedroom door and all the times she had barged in there and annoyed him.
*Zoya is at the airport and it is time for her to go through security. She keeps looking back wondering...in the movies the hero shows up at the last minute and tells the girl not leave but Mr. Khan will never show up for her. He has his Tanveer...and is glad to see the end of this musibhaat.
*Then when she is about to go through security, someone puts their hand on hers and says "I'm afraid you're going to have to miss your flight and return home Miss Farooqui." She looks around and Dilshaad, Najma and Aasd are there. Dilshaad tells her that Asad has been able to secure (and here is what you're all thinking - marriage but NO, we won't go there YET.š), a work permit for her in his company and has extended her visa for another several months and she can stay in India. The final paperwork was done today and they just need her signature.
*Zoya is teaful but she tells them she has not reason to stay; her father does not want her. Dilshaad tells her that her father needs time and that she will do something to help her with Rashid's help...that her father needs time to see that he has a wonderful daughter...and then Dilshaad hugs Zoya and asks her not to leave that she did not become a guest in her house but another daughter and that she cannot see her leave - that she has not met anyone with whom she can feel this close that her leaving tore her to pieces and that she wants her back. Najma pleads with her not leave and reminds her of all the things she did for her - especially her defending her against the boys who teased her, hiding her secrets and never throwing her under a bus against Asad but instead breaking his phone - she blabs on and on and Asad stares in amazement at his mother and sister and all the secrets that were kept from him. He realizes that the Zoya he thought was a troublemaker was simply adored by his mother and sister and that she had protected his sister and mother with not thought but for them.
*Asad is confused and doesn't know what to do...he then goes to Zoya and asks her to stay and that her leaving at this point is too rushed...that she needs time and that with time her father will accept her and that her leaving is too rushed for her and that if she had more time, would she have stayed or wanted to stay. Zoya thinks...she is torn between returning home and going with them...she wants more time...she wants meet with Humaira - meet her sister, at least get to know her, her stepmother...her poophi, Shireen...her cousins...she wants to know them all...and she has a right to know them...
*She asks Asad if he is willing to put up with her again for those several months, not only in his home but now at his office...that she is not going to change - that he is full of her opinions and shayrais and that she will probably always remain a musibhaat to him. And then she asks him will Tanveer be OK with her staying...and Asad asks her what Tanveer has to do with any decision - she's a guest in his house who will probably be leaving one day and that her father is sick and he is encouraging her to leave to see him when she gets back - that last night she was crying and he had been very support to her...at this point Zoya realizes what might have happened and what Tanveer was up too...out Zoya is smart.
*Zoya decides to stay - Dilshaad and Najma hug her and sob in delight - Zoya stays and then they both (Dilshaad and Najma grab Asad in the group hug). Najma then says, 'now we are a family again.' A hint of what the future has in store...
And Zoya returns home again...
So that is what the writers could do instead of giving us an Asad 'I love you." I just don't see that happening just yet or would go there.
