Part 13

It was midnight by the time he reached home. He slowly opened the door making sure not to disturb any one with the noise. There was something strange in the air today. It didn't have her smell lingering in it.

He pushed aside all the thoughts and headed towards his room only to have one look of his wife. But when he entered his room, forget about wife, there wasn't a single thing in the room that could tell that someone else also lived there with him in the same room.

He placed his luggage on the side and passed a glance over every corner of the room once again. There was nothing of her belongings that he could spot. It took sometime for him to sink in the surroundings. And when it did, he immediately rushed towards their wardrobe to look for her clothes.

On one side, there were all his clothes kept aside and it was empty on her side, like no one had touched it since years.

An unknown fear began to creep in him. The fear that something happened to her, the fear that she left him, the fear of losing her ! Like he lost his father.

''Zoya...'' he whispered to himself shutting the wardrobe. ''Kahan ho tum...'' he looked around pushing his hair back in frustration.

He checked every corner of the room for any clue of her whereabouts, losing all sanity every passing second. But all in vain.

It did not even strike him to ask Ammi or Najma where she was ! The guilt of leaving her alone in that state which he was himself responsible for at the first place, ate him up bit by bit !

This was what he had wanted, to get detached from her, but when it happened, his life seemed meaningless. Everything looked like before. Normal. But now his definition of normal had changed. This wasn't what he wanted or wished for anymore.

He was exhausted by the fight that took place between his heart and mind. He didn't know what to do with his life anymore, without Zoya !

He broke down and fell on his knees screaming, ''Zoyyyaaahh'' letting the tears run down his blood shot eyes.

''Chali gayi...!!'' came a voice from the threshold of his door.

He looked up to meet a pair of eyes spitting equal amount of pain and anger that was in his eyes.

''Chali gayi tumhe chod kar Zoya...!!' Yehi chahte they na tum...lo ho gaya ! Ab khush ho na tum beta...?'' continued Dilshad looking at her son's vulnerable state.

She had seen love for each other in Asad and Zoya's eyes and very well knew her son's insecurities. She had also seen Zoya's pain and this time she wouldn't let him go easily. He had to go through the same pain that she'd suffered from, everytime he decided to keep distance from her.

Within no time, she heard him whisper, ''Chali gayi ??? Mujhe chodkar ?? Kahaan ??''

Asad couldn't believe his ears. She cant leave me and go. Where would have she gone ?

So many questions rising in his mind, made it impossible for him to think straight. Dilshad saw that he wasnt able to comprehend what was going around. So she decided to rub him further by saying, ''Ab tumhe uski itni fikar kyu ho rahi hai...?? Itne bebas kyu lag rahe ho ? Hamesha se yehi toh chahte they tum... Iss rishte se aazadi...? Haina ??'' devastation filled in her voice.

Asad's head fell on hearing this. He wasn't able to meet his eyes with his ammi's. He knew she was right and thats what he had portrayed all the while. Then why did it pain so much to hear the same thing from someone else's mouth, he thought.

He couldn't help feeling more guilty when his own ammi showed him the mirror of his own deeds. Dilshad could feel his pain increasing every second, so she thought of ending the torture and giving him some brains !

She slowly moved towards him and sat beside him on her knees, cupping his face in her hands. She said softly, ''Kahin nahi gayi wo tumhe chod kar...aur na kabhi jaa sakti hai ! Itni mohabbat jo karti hai tumse !!''

Asad immediately raised his head on hearing this to meet his teary eyes with his mother's loving ones. She slightly nodded her head in assurance to her statement.

His eyes twinkled unknowingly with joy. Dilshad looked at him lovingly and continued, ''Mai janti hu tum bhi usse utni hi mohabbat karte ho...lekin kabhi manoge nahi ! Tumhara darr tumhe kabhi aagebadhne nahi dega... Lekin Asad, zindagi humein har baar apni galati sudhaarne ka mauka nahi deti...!! Kahin aisa na ho ki tumhare guzre hue kal ki parchayi tumhare aane wale kal ko barbaad kar de...''

Asad took in each and every word his ammi said. He knew he had to come out of his past and fear both ! It was now or never...!!

Dilshad stood up to leave the room, hoping that the next day would bring a new light to their relation. Just as she was about to shut the door, she heard him ask, ''Zoya kahan hai ?''
''Woh guest room mein hai... Tumhare jaane ke baad usne wahin shift kiya... She hasn't left the room since three days... Ab aage tumhe hi kuch karna hai...'' she replied and left the room.

He decided to immediately got to her and sort out things with her ! He moved towards the door but stopped mid way thinking, Mai kya kahunga usse...? Kaise maafi maangu apni galtiyon ki... Kya wo mujhe kabhi maaf karegi usse iss halat mein akela chodne ke liye ?

He paced around the room thinking what and how would he talk to her.

The sunlight entered through the window and filled every corner of the room. He finally decided to go to her and see how he could make it up, coz there wasn't a single proper idea that striked him.

He wasn't used to express feelings but that didn't mean he couldn't but this was a difficult task for him !

He slowly tip toed to the guest room and opened the door slightly. It was 5 am and all he could see was darkness. He couldn't make out where she actually was in the pitch black darkness.

He walked towards the window randomly and pushed the curtains aside in one go.

Within no time, the darkness vanished and the room filled with light. He turned back to look at her and saw her face glowing, with the rays of sun falling on her beautiful face. He moved towards the bed and sat beside her on the floor, slowly pushing her locks away from her face that were hindering his view.

She instantly opened her eyes with a frown on her head. It wouldn't have been more than an hour that she fell asleep only to be woken up by his unexpected presence.

She immediately jerked away from his hand as the memories of their previous moment came rushing back. Tears began to fill her eyes as she stepped away from him. The tears that seemed long dried up had come back in one moment just looking at him.

He got up and looked at her shocked, more than her !
