PART II:
Back at Asad's residence:
Asad was still thinking of Zoya's words-- "I want you to be the happiest person in this world.. "
Though he was aware why Zoya had actually said those words to him, he however needed a reconfirmation. Perhaps that's what you call human nature. You require a confirmation even for something that your heart has long ago accepted. Asad was in a similar situation.Just then he heard a knock at the door.It was Dilshaad.
Dilshaad: Asad you back? When did you return? I was wondering why were you getting so late. So, you finished your official work?
Dilshaad stared at Asad, expecting him to say something in his response. Asad looked back at Dilshaad and replied a "YES".
Dilshaad: Asad, there is something that is bothering me for quite sometime now. Today I feel it is of utmost importance that I ask you this question that has been haunting me for long.
Asad exactly knew what Dilshaad was about to ask him. He realized there was no way he could avoid the situation any further. He prompted Dilshaad to ask him the question.
Dilshaad: Do you love Zoya? If you do, then why are you marrying Tanveer? Just because Zoya does not fulfill your criteria of being an ideal woman? Or is it because you are afraid to fall in love with someone since you feel that you too would be betrayed like me? What is it Asad? Answer me!
Asad was at a loss of words. It was kind of a reality check for him. Did he love Zoya? Then why was he destroying Tanveer's life by marrying her? Why was he letting his life-- HIS Zoya go away from him? Why??
Dilshaad demanded an answer. Asad chose to remain silent. Probably he did not have an answer to that. Or may be he had the answer but was not being able to come to terms with it!!
Dilshaad: Asad, I know, you don't believe in the institution of love for what had happened with me. But son, everyone is not as unlucky as me. Rashid left me for another woman, inspite of knowing how much I loved him. You are doing just the same. By now it is very clear that Zoya really loves you and inspite of knowing her feelings for you, you are leaving her and getting married to Tanveer whom you don't even love? Have you ever thought how much pain this might have given Zoya? If you do the so, then what would be the difference between you and your father whom you hate for his deeds??
Asad looked at Dilshaad..
He had nothing to say yet again in his defence. He knew his ammi was right!
He was aware of Zoya's feelings for him. He was even aware of his own feelings for Zoya but still he was giving more importance to his idealogies than his heart. He was not only betraying Zoya but Tanveer too whom he considered a close friend.
Dilshaad knew she had struck the right chord. Before leaving the room all she said was,
"Listen to your heart Asad. For once in your life and you will never regret doing it.. "
Saying this she left the room, leaving Asad behind !!!!!
