1. Razia :
Evil. Cold blooded. Ruthless. Cruel. Heartless. All these adjectives do describe her to perfection but maybe 'cold-blooded' doesn't. Every dark night has a story - where it came from and how it came about to be what it is today. Once upon a time in history, Razia was a hot-blooded possessive passionate woman who was put to a test - a skeleton from her husband's cupboard came tumbling out with a child - demanding Gaffur, demanding her rights which were to be the same as Razia's, demanding that life for herself and Zoe , that was rightfully Razia's and Humeira's. THIS moment of test made Razia what she is today. Its like you are put in boiling hot water - you either drown yourself or else hop out holding someone else and drown them. Right or Left.
Razia went left , onto the dark side, and the possessive angry blood of a young woman turned into a cruel, ruthless cold-blooded one. Once you cross that moral compass, you become a part of the brethren of evil. Then, there is no looking back. Ek baar khoon bahaa diyaa, toh hazaar baar khoon bahaane mein koi taqleel nahiin hoti kyunki zameer waapis kabhi zindaa nahiin hotaa.
What Razia did was a crime of passion and emotional hatred - for her husband's blast from the past who wanted to become Gaffur's present tense , for that child who was a symbol of her husband's 'naasamjhee ka daurr'.
Tests of fire reveal who you really are on the inside. And when Razia's moment of test came - she proved to be a dark tigress who can devour anything and anyone who comes her way. From day 1, Razia was clear on one thing - Gaffur was hers and no, there was never, there isn't and there never will be a 'BUT' in that.
When Razia was wronged , she avenged everything by redefining the definition of WRONG- proving herself to be the most VICIOUSLY emotional person on the show. We can never forgive Razia for anything but we will always know where she sprung from.
2. Zoe .
A love child. I hate the word illegitimate , honestly. No child is illegitimate. Maybe a relationship is but not a baby. Zoe har tareeke se kudrat ki jaayaz aulaad hai even if her mother was a homebreaker and her father a pragmatic coward. Zoe doesn't know her history or from where she has sprung. She has no idea that the blood in her veins is poison to a woman . She has no inkling that some evil beauty out there hates her with her life. All she knows is that she wants her father , she wants to be called a daughter , accepted by her 'Abbu' wherever he is. What she doesn't know is that she is searching for a life that will only make her extremely unhappy - it will snatch away the pizza world of her Aapi and Jiju, it will erase the shaayri sessions and laughter of the Khan mansion. Gaffur's re-entry into her life will give her 'Abbu' but a Pandora's box will also come along and so will Razia's vengeful shadow that can give Zoe nothing but disgust. That Razia let Zoe live is a big surprise in itself.
Its sad and unfortunate in a way. Zoe is desperately looking for a father who dumped her for his wife Razia . A life, a relationship that will make her miserable and torn with an elusive promise of warmth that may or may not come. Infact, when you see her rest so peacefully in Asad's arms in Asad's dreams, you think that Zoe,this is your place, this is your home and this is your destiny. You have not come looking for your Abbu , you have been led here to Asad because this is your home. He is your home and none else.
3. Gaffur Siddiqui.
Player. Coward. Immoral. Practical. The problem is not that Gaffur had an affair with Zoe's Mom while he was in USA and wasn't married to Razia yet. The problem is that he shirked from responsibility of that woman and of Zoe. The guilt of making Razia miserable overrode his emotions as Zoe's father. He talks of morals and ethics , for what? He is bathed in the blood of his dead lover and the cries of his innocent daughter.
I do believe that he loves Razia or else he wouldn't have allowed her to get away with so much.It just cannot be guilt that he let Razia do as she pleased - he never wanted to lose Razia - deal with it. He chose Razia over everything , even over his own flesh and blood- Zoe. Gaffur is just as much a coward in many ways as Rashid. Or maybe nothing and nobody was more important to him than Razia and saving his own bachaa-khuccha honour in front of his Begum.
No, Zoe doesn't need a father like him. A father who loves her but loves himself, his honour and his Begum over her. Zoe is nothing but a fond and still shameful memory for Gaffur. He gave up Zoe for Razia. Today, he may melt and embrace Zoe but that will never change the fact that he abandoned her when she needed him. A father with compartmentalized emotions. Gaffur will always be Razia's husband first and then, anything else.
4. Asad.
He loves her. He is her winter blanket. He is her saviour and her soulguard. He may never say it. He may never be able to deal with it, He may run away from her, He maybe torn away from her. But he will always love her and irrespective of whether they are together or not - Asad will always protect Zoe. He has always stood between Zoe and trouble like a wonderwall and he always will. Asad's whole life is a complication and emotional foolish floats like Rashid, Dilshad, Ayaan do not make it any easier for him, nor do enemies like Bhookhi Chudail Aurat, Gaffur and Razia. But inspite of all that and his complete lack of faith in the world... Asad fell in love with Zoe.
I don't know how he will deal with it tomorrow- BCA's games, his own emotional knots regarding Zoe, Zoe's lineage of being Gaffur's daughter - the evil bloodline that ruined his life, possibility of Ayaan taking away Zoe, Zoe taking long to realize she loves him a la Linus-Sabrina... But one thing should not and will not change. Asad will never stop protecting her, even if he screams a " Aap ka dimaag kharaab hai, Miss.Farooqui" everyday. Love frustrates him today but will liberate him tomorrow.
P.S- I still believe that Zoe will be miserable once she leaves Asad and the white mansion. She will walk around the world , with a huge hollow in her chest and she won't even know what it is. Asad is her home. Not Gaffur. 😃
