Chapter 1
It is often said that opposites attract. That may be true, however, it should also be added that if the above mentioned opposites involved in such a state of attraction do not put an effort in order to understand each other and make adjustments for each others characters and beliefs then there is nothing but pain and suffering and heartbreak in such a relationship.
Zoya had once been in love with a man who had been her complete opposite. Although the attraction and love had been there, ultimately the misunderstandings and fights had been too much to bear.
And yet she had also experienced the complete opposite. She had been married, albeit for a short while, to a man with whom she shared a lot of similarities. And although friendship and understanding had been constants in their relationship, it had always seemed that her that there was SOMETHING lacking. There had been a sense of incompleteness. Maybe he had felt the same for ultimately he had chosen betrayal as a gateway out, and betrayal had led to heartbreak, and the loss of a friend.
Although she had suffered, Zoya would not change anything in her past. Because those relationships had taught her and shaped her into whom she was now. She had learned what she wanted and what one needed for a successful love: it was someone who completed you, who is able to fill the holes in your armour, who helped you strengthen your shield by challenging you and who protected you when you were vulnerable. You do not want someone who breaks you down just so that they can build you back up. That is not love. Or rather, that is not the healthiest form of love. And yes, love and attraction are important elements; they are the catalysts to bringing two people together but so much more I needed in order to keep them together.
And, Zoya vowed, only when she had found this someone would the words 'Qubool hai' escape her lips once again. She had learned her lesson, and she was someone who never repeated the same mistakes twice.
