Asad is INDEED Head over Heels for Zoya. He LOVES her. He Proposed her, in his own Ziili-i-Ilaahi style, 'You are soo Batameez, but still you come in my dreams, you are my Sunshine, you are my smile in sadness!" But the whole thing prevails in his head is that I CANNOT FALL IN LOVE, if i do, i will end up hurting Zoya like my Father did to my Mother. Its better if you are hurt now, you wont be later then.
Trust me, the whole sequence was ADORABLE simple FLAWLESS. but then it was clear enough to make 4 statements
