It's just that expressing disappointment in a character is not bashing and it's not fair to expect people to love the characters all the time.

I am a massive HP fan but in the fifth book I found his character immature and insufferable. Doesn't mean I am bashing the character, it's just an opinion.

No need to apologize. And please, no need to edit anything. People are not bashing when they are disappointed with how a storyline or character is developing. It is actually important to understand that the person is actually grieving and is quite disheartened. As a reader it is important to understand where that person is coming from that they should feel so let down. If you don't see it that way, that's alright, but if you want to build a bridge, ask them why they see them that way. You never know the interesting conversation you might end up having with them.
