Ok im slightly confused here, according to the show Zeenat is Zoya's cousin who took her in after her mom died right?
I'm gonna guess that Zeenat is from Zoya's mom's side of the family?
Because obviously she can't be from the fathers side then Zoya wouldn't really have such a hard time finding her dad.

Anyway how is that Zeenat doesn't know about Zoya's father??
She is her family na? distant family maybe but still related to her.
How can she not know who was Zoya's father. Sure she might not have met him but atleast she might have known her aunt's husband's name.

Which brings me to another question, Are we sure that Zoya is not a love child maybe? Because if her parents were actually married in a proper manner then how is possible that her cousin doesn't know her father?

Actually in the initial episodes Zeenath was shown to be not happy with Zoya's search for her father, she kept on saying there is nothing to look back at the psat, also once Zeenath was saying Anwer(her hubby) that, you know very well she won't get anything from knowing her past which is burried so many years back then why are you supporting her something like that. So I guess, Zeenath knows about Zoya's past that it's bitter, she may not be knowing the saazish and all, but she knows it's something very bitter and Zoya shouldn't get to know that. That's why she has not revealed anything to Zoya, because she doesn't want to see Zoya in chaos.

Oh! I had totally forgotten about the intial episodes. Now that I think of it, your right. Zeenat was rather adamant about Zoya not finding out about her past.
Hmmm... that makes sense why she didnt tell her about the past.
But since Zoya has already decided to find out everything by herself living in someone elses house, Zeenat could have just made it easy by telling instead.

Great post!
I too have been wondering about the Zeenat-Zoya connection. From Zeenat's lines it is clear that she knows more about Zoya's background than she has told her. And so does Anwar. Because they think that Zoya will not find happiness with her search, and that it is better for her to get married and find happiness in her marriage.
Zeenat never says that there is nothing to find, or that she and her family have tried to find Zoya's father. The CVs hint that Zeenat knows more than she is letting on to Zoya. I wonder why Zeenat and Anwar are willing to let Zoya spend a month or more all by herself in Bhopal looking for her father, rather than tell her whatever they know about her family. Is it because they think her search will fail and she'll turn up nothing worthwhile? In that case either they don't know Zoya too well, (very possible because Zeenat arranged that wedding fiasco) or Zoya's background is too complicated to unravel completely. Or perhaps they don't have the guts to tell her something painful.
Also how does this square with Anwar and Zeenat's willingness to help Zoya with her invetigation - old photos mostly?

I guess that they know her well enough to know she's not going to give up without trying to find father. And are only supporting her enough (old pictures and all) so that she at least know where to begin. Unko pata hai ke akele un tasveeron se to kuch hasile hone wala nahi hai...chalo bachi ka time pass hi ho jayega. Shayad thak kar khud haar jayegi aur apni yeh zid chor degi.

Yup!
Because Zoya is the only child that survived that fire and never has she said anything about her parents having another daughter.
It was said somewhere in the beginning that Zeenat is her cousin who took her in after the fire.

Yes that's what I thought too. But this entire thread has spurred me to view the old episodes again, and I found this scene in the November 7th epi that's relevant. The conversation is as follows (I have edited it).
Anwar: We can't stop Zoya from finding out her past.
Zeenat: Lekin agar Zoya ke saamne saari sachchai aagayi, toh woh kaise bardasht kar paayegi. (But if the truth is revealed to Zoya, how will she be able to handle it.)
Anwar: 20 years is a very long time. I don't think she'll be able to find out a truth that has been buried under the dust of 20 years. But we have to let her try...or she will not be able to move on.
So really Zeenat and Anwar know but don't want to tell Zoya about her painful past. And they seem to think that the best solution for her is to find the right husband, instead.😊

Well time will answer all questions just like it did between the brothers bonding.
