Hey!

I thought the moment Zoya recoiled spoke loud and clear that the "thing that shall not be named" affected her more than even she knew. Her subconscious has not forgotten. Coming of the blue in the middle of all her usual comedy made it especially powerful. I thought what she said to him later in the car that "I am strong girl" was so poignant.

Now Asad is going to have to live with this. He has to get her to trust him again (if he cares)...and that will be immensely difficult.

I wish they had left the scene with her walking away.

The dance as a follow-up to this powerful scene had me confused as hell. WHAT was that all about? 😕 That was hardly the time to be aggressive like that...

The dance to me was misplaced and gratuitous. But not AS gratuitous as Zoya ripping off Asad's buttons. That was just so tacky.

Spot on Laila
It was a disturbing few incidents and they initially treated it so superficially. I'm glad that Asad is ashamed. It was more disappointing that Zoya could get over this traumatic incident over a cup a coffee (black and bitter at that too!) But its clear from her reaction that the incident had a traumatic effect on her tho' she tried to play it down.
If women can't speak up for women's issues and rights we can't expect others to do it.
No matter how much we drool at Jahapana's 6 pacs, producers must be responsible in not passing the wrong message with regard to violence and abuse.

Hey Laila,

Great Post dear!

The first thing that came to my mind after watching yesterday's episode was that Zoya is going through PTSD...I am enraged at the fact that she has been completely stripped of her dignity and self respect...and the alarming part is that she has no idea of it at all.

I think it was pre-planned. Reason being the beard timeline. Remember when Asad makes a phone call to have Akram imprisoned- That I think was a last minute response to protests by viewers. But theres no way to tell for sure. Either way, I vouched for waiting for the track to unfold then and I do the same now.Not before criticim but before signing off the show and expnding too much energy getting angry.

There's no harm whatsoever in voicing dissent. Every opinion has potential. At the end of the day, whenever there is debate over why something must not be done (constructive criticism in this case) my question remains- why not? Yes I concede, as an observer, that criticism has crossed the line at times and left a bad taste in me. At that point I simply boycott those threads- not because anyone will miss my presence but only for my sanity. The bottom most bottomline is it's a show. But I'm also sure that were it not for this dissent, there'd be less chance of change in attitudes about violence be it among the public or among the group that makes up the PH.

Coming to the reason for this post, I loooved the guilt in his eyes when she flinched. At that point he asked himself "Have I become a monster in her eyes? What have I done with this bubbly girl"

The dance was first of all just to bow to her request and do as she said. Secondly, he also wanted to show her that he does not want to be reduced to that guy who slapped her, that he is more than that. Of course, Mr.Khan got a lil carried away by her proximity. Then he says dance isse kehte hain as opposed to standing on the sofa and shaking some booty. I guess that was a cover up fo the impulsive intensity that just happened or maybe not. It was hard to tell.

The button tearing was just awkward. Here we are chasing kaan khujaane wala Raghu and woops we get distracted by Mr.Finesse and his toned abs. I was embarrassed and amused!

Hey Jojo,
Well said. Yup, I guess both the praise and criticism on this forum goes to extremes. One thing I've figured... There's a bunch that will never concede something wasn't right and will label people bashers and get personal because we don't relate to what we see. And likewise, those of us who critique get back.. This is a vicious cycle. And the only way we can get out of us if we're upfront and dont get personal.

I liked what you thought of the dance... Makes sense. Otherwise, it would be awkward and not fit well.

The button tearing sequence could have been executed better. I know they wanted to lead it up to this part where she sews the buttons on, but it could have been her stumbling and holding on to him, them falling perhaps and his shirt rips... That scene didn't look convincing, if you know what I mean.

I thought the dance sequence actually fit well in the moment emotionally. They had an intense moment when Zoya flinched and Asad saw that she was genuinely afraid of him. She started to walk away, reminded of the pain Asad had caused her, and Asad didn't want her to leave him like that. So he pulled her closer through the dance, bringing their unspoken feelings for each other, especially their attraction to each other, back to the forefront. Neither one of them is ready to say anything and they probably wouldn't even consciously admit anything, but he knows and she knows there's a lot going on under the surface between the two of them.

The interesting thing about Asad and Zoya for me is that they aren't a good match. In a lot of ways, they bring out the worst in each other. But in spite of their opposite natures, frequent irritation with each other, and the now very real fear Zoya has of Asad's temper turning violent again, there is a powerful attraction between them as well as growing tender feelings. It's a great conflict because it's not like the positives are overcoming the negatives, but more like both the positives and negatives are growing the closer they get to each other. And I really don't know at this point in the story if the possible love between the two of them is enough to believably overcome the conflicts they keep building. What's going to happen the next time they're on genuinely opposite sides? Or, as was previously suggested, when Zoya eventually has choices to make with regard to Asad? This is one case where I could see why the attraction of a "safer" guy like Ayaan would be very real.

Anyway, it's a lot of fun to watch! In a very heightened reality kind of way, of course. 😉 The shirt tearing...that was just goofy. But I think it was meant as another Valentine's Day treat to the viewers. Sometimes, you just can't take it too seriously. 😃

Just my POV but don't know what CVs have in mind.

Thank you - I believe his guilt is getting to him...and I hope it always does 😉😆 And if Zoya wants to milk it for what it is worth - you go girl! Ok that's the bad girl side of me coming out. 🤪😛
