"Asad...I'm so sorry" whispered Dilshad. "Ammi what are you sorry for, please rest..." answered Asad. he rest his hands on her forehead and gazed at her..."Asad, Where is Najma & Zoya?" asked Dilshad struggling to open her eyes...Asad closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, "Ammi, Najma is resting in her room," there was a long pause as he was unwilling to even mention Zoya's name in a sentence. "Where is Zoya?" she asks again. "Ammi, please rest!" replied Asad already tensed. Dishad still gazed at him waiting for an answer. Asad then goes on to tell dishad that Zoya is so irresponsible bringing Mariam to the house after what happened in Mangalpur and after he warned her not to have anything to do with her. Dilshad stops him and says that Zoya did make Mariam leave and it was her that brought Mariam back even though Zoya warned her that she shouldn't as he would not like it. She continued to tell him that Zoya is not to be blamed for what happened to her. Asad felt his guts fall to the floor. There was now an empty feeling inside of him. He was mortified with guilt. The flashbacks started, from the slap...to the ill treatment of closing the door on her face, to holding her against the wall, till all the threats he made...Asad gazed at the scar "Z" on his palm, his eyes welled up with tears of sadness and guilt.
He excused himself from his Ammi and raced to Zoya's room. There she was, sitting on her bed looking lifeless, sad, alone and mis-treated. her back was turned from him, he was hesitant to go close to her as he didnt know how she would react. He have never told anyone sorry before and he didnt have reason to. he took tiny baby steps towards her...his heart beating heavily... matching the sound of his footsteps. He was right behind her, he took a deep breath and touched her on her shoulder, "Zoya". Zoya turned and faced him..."Mr. please leave me alone" she protested..."Z-Zoya" Asad stumbling on his words...Zoya didnt even give him a chance to speak...She experienced this before with him, he never gave her the chance in a day to explain anything to him...he always make assumptions...she have had enough!!!! she was hurt by his words and she felt like she couldn't forgive him. She started to rumble " Mr. Khan I told you I was sorry, but I did make Mariam leave, just like you told me to do...What more do you want for me, you always assume the worst of me, what is your problem Mr. Khan...why do you think you know me, why do you think you can control everyone around you. you have no clue about me so dont pretend you do". Tears welled down Zoya's face, her eyes showing every bit of emotion she was feeling...Asad felt like he couldn't even look her in her eyes, but every couple seconds he took glances at her, with his sadden eyes, red with the pain he was beginning to feel for Zoya. Zoya still in her fit continued "You like to talk about my parents nah...My mother, DEAD...i was A kid...see these scars!!!!" Zoya rips of her sleeve to show Asad and continues, "my father left me and my mom in a fire to die...what do you know about me Mr. Khan!!!" Asad rests this hands on her mouth as for her to stop talking...she tries to mumble to express her pain but, Asad pulls her towards him and holds are close and gives her a comforting hug. Zoya broke down in his arms crying out all the feelings she kept inside...Asad too was feeling pain for her...tears streamed down his face and he kept whispering 'I am sorry Zoya".
Zoya still in his arms, looks up at Asad and they gazed at each other...Mitwa moment! Asad raises his hands and brushes away the hair from her face and wipes the tears from her eyes...Suddenly Zoya realised what was happening...She pushed him away and said "please leave me alone Mr. Khan" He tries to protest but she didnt give in...he left so that she can calm down.
Later in the night, Asad couldn't sleep and is lost in thoughts of Zoya..*Kuch Is Tarah by Atif Aslam is playing in the background* He rests his hands covering his face and thinks to himself..."I love Zoya"...Meanwhile Zoya is walking out of the house with her suitcase...Asad reaches her room and knocks on the door and calls her name...no answer so he invited himself in...the bed was neatly made for the first time and Zoya's stuff was no where to be seen, nothing was left except one note from Zoya...To be continued
