During the course of my hitting-the-report-button spree, I came across a million drooling posts on Asad. This considering that he already has an AT. And none of those threads get closed. Are they not cluttering the forum? 🤔

I LOVE you for this! 🤗

You know as much as I am disheartened by the casual way many took the slap, the "justifications", even the laughter (😕) and the drooling (🤢)...I am SO heartened that I have also met people like you and Laila and Priyanka and many many more! It gives me hope!

no they are fine with it...I guess they just have problem with the people who are actually trying to have a mature conversation on an important issue.

Same here. Everyday I think of quitting this forum looking at the sorry state of its affairs but I always come across threads that give me faith and compels me to stay on and get our views heard, even if we be the minority. As long as I find mature posters here, I will stay. And thank you 😳

Hi Priyanka! I'm Mira 😊

Yes it's true unfortunately. The Verma committee which was constituted after the Delhi gang rape has made some really far reaching suggestions to the Govt., incuding on marital rape. But they are yet to implement. Rape laws in India are woefully inadequate.

I'm not surprised by the ignorance here...That's why I posted about the 2005 PWADV act. Hopefully some people can now educate themselves about what "domestic" means! The idea that dom. violence happens between romantic or married couples is beyond antiquated.

What really scares me is how ill-informed people are. I live in the US, but I keenly follow social justice issues in India. I grew up there and it will always be home. But I am shocked that so many people living in India are not aware of the developments in law and social justice. There is enough being reported about this in newspapers and TV!!

hi Mira...I live in California...I have been living in America since I was 6 but I am very close to India at heart...I have relatives there whom I am very close to. The Delhi rape case left me numb...did you know the trial is on right now? I am following it very closely...thanks for your information about the marital rape laws...I couldn't reply to you in the thread because they closed it. Sometimes, i feel hopeless at the ignorance of some ppl. But, you know something amongst all this ...I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to know some great ppl like you and the others.

I am disappointed they are showing Asad like this. Some people say it is justified, I say heck no. And I'm glad other people agree.

Honestly this one time slap leads to more and more. It sends out a message that slapping is ok. Plus Asad's slap can be considered as harassment. But off course this is a show and the main lead raised his hand. No one will raise their voice. I bet if some minor character raised their hand it would not have been okay. I think some who are supporting is might be because KSG is playing Asad...

Apart from that I have been a day 1 supporter of Zoya helping Marium. The thing is she took a stand and did something about what happened to Marium. I haven't watched today's episode but if she accepts the slap and is not even upset, it will be against her character. I would hate to see this happen to Zoya because she is one of my favorite main female leads.

Plus I saw a comment that this will lead to romance... I'm not sure about you but the last thing I'd want to do is fall in love with the guy who slapped me.

There were comments that this is all Zoya's fault. It is not. Dilshad brought her back, I bet thats when they spotted Marium. And because Dilshad brought Marium back this also means that Zoya did the right thing before.

Azad emotions are understandable and if he words instead of his hand it would have been more acceptable. Raising his hand was NOT okay. He should have controlled him self.

It thoroughly escapes me why we cannot have a mature critical discussion on this forum 👎🏼

hi Aalia...thankyou for doing this...I have reported many myself...even sent out a complain letter to all the moderators.

Only too true. But I'm done with turning the other cheek for the sake of entertainment. Pun intended. If entertainment toes too dangerously to the harsh reality line, they should be more aware and responsible with it. There is always a certain section of audience who are not going to take this unwarranted glorification of hero and abuse lying down.

Priyanka,

To your point about people not considering slapping to be violence.

Slapping is unfortunately SO common in Indian cinema and on TV shows. It is an expression of power. It is used to humiliate, put in place, to assert authority...Parents often slap their grown children (!)...and this is considered okay.

In reality, Corporal punishment is pretty common place in families and schools, but I'm happy to report that this is also changing in India, but far more slowly ... people actually find it hard to accept that a few slaps even in the name of disciple is not okay... we still have the victorian attitude of "spare the rod and spoil the child"...

All goes to show why people wold not consider a slap a big deal...sadly.

I must say that its got me thinking how casual and common place violence has become...for us not to even consider it violence!
