Abhay is trap u see. His clan and piya... He is under pressure. So making mistakes tends to happen.

Chapter 24 - Painful Consequences

Another mistake of him and she was in danger again.

He did not know what she was going through. Where she must be. The warning and the way his vision failed, he knew she was not fine.

"Why did I even let her go?" Abhay cursed in his mind and sprinted to to parking area.

He had to save her, what may happen. He had to cross the hurdles, whatever they were. He had to protect her.

He had to!!

"Where is Piya?" Misha asked, following him with concern.

"That's what I intend to find." Abhay whispered with fear looming on his face as he unlocked his car.

Another mistake of him and he was suddenly fearful of the consequences.

"Will you explain what's the matter?" Misha asked exasperated of his silence, when she was worried for Piya.

"You should've asked that before." Abhay snapped at her with accusations clear in his eyes. He hated her guts. First, hurting Piya and now distracting him with her useless questions when Piya was in danger.

Sitting in the car, Abhay tried to locate Piya but darkness came as a reply.

"What?" Abhay barked when Misha sat on the passenger seat.

"I'm coming!" Misha announced, she wanted to be sure of Piya safety. She did mistake of leaving Piya that night but she would not repeat that mistake.

If Abhay wasn't worried for Piya and not in haste, Misha would've faced utter humiliation by Abhay. But right at that moment both had same concern and they didn't want to lose Piya due to their fights.

Abhay was frustrated though. He wanted to be alone so to reach her quickly but he had no time to fight.

"Now tell me everything." Misha turned to him, when he started the car and raced out on the roads.

"You should've thought about her before. You chose not to listen her and now...." Abhay ran his fingers in his messed up hair, letting the unsaid words hung with eery silence.

"Okay I did mistake but won't you tell me the truth?" Misha insisted to know what really truth was and why wasn't Piya with him.

"Shut up" Abhay groaned surprising Misha into silence "let me focus on finding her. You have already contributed enough in hurting her." Abhay said bluntly, he was too worried and scared for Piya to care for someone's feelings who had already hurt Piya.

Misha didn't dare to question again. She realized something was really wrong for Abhay to lose his coolness, in such a way. She surely wanted to know whole truth but she also wanted to find Piya at that moment.

Using his whole power, Abhay tried to locate Piya but as expected someone was covering her location and he damn knew who that someone was.

"I'll kill you, whoever you're" Abhay thought

Frustrated and terrified, that's what he was feeling. The feelings, he once felt while holding a dying Maithli in his arms. He did not want that history to repeat. He did not want to hold another lifeless body in his arms. He did not want that face to be pale and lifeless, again. He did not want to witness those closed eyes again. He did not.

"Please, be safe, Piya. Be safe, please..." Abhay chanted in his mind, he was drowning in the worry for her but he didn't want panic to distract him from finding her.

Vendor, on the outskirts of city was his only hope. The place, Piya was suppose to meet Misha. He should have payed more attention when Piya was explaining him those message and meeting. He had felt something about the situation was weird, but he was too messed up to ponder over it.

He damn failed. Now, the feeling of dread and Piya absence was killing him, all over again and again.

How she must be and in what situation, she would be, he had no idea. He damn knew nothing. Feeling clueless and helpless, were the moments he hated the most and those moments never ended well.

"No!!! NO!!! She will be fine. Nothing will happen to her. Nothing!!" Abhay told himself again and again so not to let the fear overtake him.

His mind was so messed up and he was so busy trying to find Piya that he paid no attention to the road ahead. It was at the last moment that he took sudden brakes and car skidded for a second before halting.

"Damn you!!!" Abhay cursed the entity loudly, surprising and confusing Misha.

A huge tree was blocking the path to vendor and he knew exactly why it was so. Frustrated, he glared at Misha. If it was not for her presence, he would have been able to push his way ahead.

Despite knowing that secret power was involved, Abhay was suddenly horrified over the realisation that hit him suddenly.

He was being watched. They all were. Their activities were being monitored and the problems were being created accordingly.

The message right when he had to attend the clan meeting, the power hiding the existence of Piya and the fallen tree when he could easily move it, if not for Misha.

It was all planned by taking advantage of his weak points.

"Please be safe,Piya" Abhay whispered, worried more than ever.

If everything was planned, he had no idea what horrible might be happening with Piya. The only thought was scaring him.

Taking deep breaths, Abhay tried to search for Piya by his powers, even when he knew she was being shielded by secret entity.

He caught faint trail of her scent and tried to hold it, like a drowning man catches on stray.

Jumping down from the car, Abhay raced to forest from where he could feel her scent.

"Hey, slow a bit." Misha shouted when Abhay was about to move out of her sight

Her voice halted Abhay for a second. In his worry, he had completely forgot about Misha and was even about to use his superspeed.

He cursed her presence and ran in normal speed which was of course slowing him down.

"Misha, can you please wait for sometime." Abhay said exasperated "I don't want you to get lost too."

"No need to find me. I can keep track of you. Find Piya, or at least tell me where she might be so I can find her." Misha snapped, as they kept on running randomly in the forest.

Abhay cursed. His head was whirling with so many of contemplations. His senses could already pick the danger, she was in. He was going berserk in sniffing her scent and still not able to find him.

Her helpless face flashing in his mind, was not helping him either. What she was going through, was a question that he was scared to know. Praying for her safety, was his only hope in the darkness that was consuming him.

Sense of foreboding was creeping on his body.

His feet were moving with uncertainty and the hope was dwindling for him.

It was her voice that gave his dead self, a life and shook him too. Jerking around, he focused on the faint echo of her voice.

"Abhaaaaay" The weak and painful shriek shook Abhay but didn't reach clueless Misha.

Without wasting another second, Abhay rushed from where he assessed voice came from. This time, his steps were swift and his speed was confident but dread hugged him as his second skin.

Their steps halted and the sight made their heart dropped in their knees. The fury raged in Abhay's veins while Misha stood numb.

Coldness laughed sinisterly in the air and the silence cried blood.

Her face was smeared with blood and dirt, and tears were mixing helplessly. Her long hair was messed and tangled with dirt. Her bare shoulders showed gruesome cuts and scratches, colored in blood. Her exhausted body was pushed in tree and held by Kabir in a harshest grip.

What sucked their breath was the knife angled fatally towards Piya stomach.

Enraged and scared, Abhay darted towards Kabir and held his hand holding the knife. Twisting the hand about to kill his Piya, Abhay almost broke his arm and pushed him.

Swiftly, he turned to Piya and held her almost lifeless body. He held her carefully in his arms and his face showed the myriad of emotions as he took in the sight of her injuries.

Through her half open eyes, Piya saw Abhay. A weak smile of relief, came on her bloodied pale face.

"Abhay..." She breathed, before losing conscious in his peaceful arms.

His face contorted into pain, seeing her state and her closed eyes numbed him for second. Fear of losing her gripped him so harshly that it took away his breath and he stared her lifeless face with deepest pain.

Feeling weak under the burdening emotions, Abhay dropped on his knees while holding her carefully. He laid her in his lap and touched the blood on her face.

Similar flashes of past rose from the grave they were buried in, and started to haunt him. A similar face, breathing her last in his lap, numbed him with disquiet and he forgot to blink.

Misha came beside him and called his name, bringing him out of his lost state. He raised his head to look at her and she sat beside him, gesturing towards Kabir who was struggling to stand up after hitting his head due to the Abhay's push.

Abhay did not want to leave Piya for a second. But at that moment, the blood oozing from her body was demanding justice from him. He had to settle some scores with Kabir.

Kabir had to pay!!

Reluctantly and carefully, Abhay moved Piya in Misha' lap. Satisfied of her protection but scared of her situation, Abhay raised his head with maddening fury. His eyes narrowed to struggling Kabir, having dizzy spells, and a darker shadow crossed his face.

Standing up, Abhay ran towards Kabir and gripped him from collar. Andy kneed Kabir in the stomach, leaving him gasping for breath.

Kabir struggled with pain and dizziness.

"Leave me"Kabir cried painfully

But Abhay did not have enough. Kabir had to pay for every pain, he inflicted on Piya.

"You shouldn't have touch her" Abhay gritted and kicking him in the stomach.

A crack sound shook Kabir with pain, but Abhay was no where to stop with his broke arm and ribs.

Fisting his hand, Abhay punched him on the face breaking a few of his teeths and blood spurted from his nose.

"Death is what you deserve" Abhay gritted slapping him so hard that Kabir fell on the ground, hitting his head on the stone and losing consciousness.

Abhay strode to his fallen body and gripped him from neck. Pulling him on his feet, Abhay was ready to gave him a fatal blow when Piya's name stopped him.

"Abhay stop" Misha shouted, knowing Abhay would kill Kabir if he wouldn't be stopped "Piya need us" she added, hoping her name would stop him and it did.

The panic in her words and Piya name, halted him in his tracks. Holding breathless Kabir, he gazed the lifeless face of Piya. This did absolutely nothing to quench his thirst for revenge.

"Police will be arriving any second. Focus on Piya for now." Misha spoke again when Abhay showed no sign of leaving Kabir

Abhay heard nothing. His eyes unmoving from Piya and his hand not leaving Kabir. Her pale face was stabbing him and he wanted revenge for her.

Only when Police came, Abhay left Kabir with jerk.

Running towards Piya, Abhay dropped on the ground, beside her lifeless body. He touched her bruised cheeks and felt the eery coldness seeping in them. He froze with fear. His eyes grew wide and he took her face in his hands.

"No, Piya, no." Abhay muttered while shaking his head "you cannot leave me. I'll not let you leave me. You have to be alive and happy. You have to."

Swiftly, he swept her out of Misha lap and in his arms. Standing up, he ran out of the forest, towards his car.

Misha opened the door. As Abhay had to drive, unwillingly he laid Piya on the back seat, with Misha holding her.

Jumping on the driving seat, Abhay drove the car in full speed. His eyes turning to Piya again and again. He wanted to take away her pain right then and there. But he knew he had to wait. Just for a moment more.

Raichand mansion appeared from the horde of forest. Abhay was attentive towards road while occasionally gazing Piya.

"Abhay, she needs hospital" Misha said emphasising every word, wondering if Abhay lost his mind.

"More than hospital, she needs a familiar environment." Abhay said pushing the brakes

"Are you mad? She is hurt, for god's sake!!" Misha cried in despair, gazing Abhay with shock.

"It isn't the bruises on her body but on mind, that needs treatment." Abhay said getting down from the car in hurry.

Misha watched him in disbelief as he took Piya out of the car and walked in the mansion. Haseena came running in shock and concern.

"What happened to her, Abhay?" Haseena asked

Abhay gave her a withering look and she stepped back in shock. He rushed to his room where Piya was staying.

"Call doctor, immediately." Abhay ordered

Having mixed feelings, Misha dialled doctor's number while following Abhay.

Abhay rushed in the room and laid her carefully on the bed. Giving a quick glance towards door, he closed his eyes and gathered his healing power. He ran his palm over her face and hands, healing the deepest injuries and leaving the minor one.

Haseena and Misha came rushing inside, Abhay took a step back, allowing them to sit beside Piya. His gaze never wavered from Piya and sadness never left his face.

She was in that state, all because of him.

Doctor arrived and told them to wait outside. After ten minutes, they were allowed inside and doctor updated them about her condition.

"Injuries will heal in two days, but am not sure about her state of mind." Doctor told with a sigh

"What do you mean, doctor?" Misha questioned with knotted brows, while Abhay and Haseena stood in silence knowing the meaning.

"It's likely possible that she may not be in her state of mind due to the trauma. But I can't say anything surely until she regain conscious" Doctor explained briefly

"I have given her injection. Inform me her state after waking up, only then we can decide future course" Doctor said before leaving.

Misha sat beside Piya, taking her hand in hers, with tears and regret in her eyes. Abhay stood leaning on wall with his eyes unmoving from Piya.

She was laying there, with her eyes closed and a huge bandage on her head. Her face lost of its color.

"You can leave, Misha. Its getting late" Haseena said softly.

"No, I'll stay with her." Misha said, without looking away from Piya, unconsciously her grip tightened around Piya's hand.

Haseena looked at Abhay. He was standing without any reaction. It felt as if he didn't hear anything. Nothing mattered to him. Nothing and no one. Except for Piya.

Haseena sighed and walked out of the room to brief Chand on the situation.

Hours went and they remained frozen in the room. Their pain was heavy in the silence of air.

Piya twitched, her fingers opened and closed, while her head bobbed in sleep. Abhay turned attentive, standing up straight. He walked to Piya and Misha shifted to Bed beside Piya.

Her expressions with her eyes closed were giving rise to a strange fear in their heart.

She was mumbling something in whispers.

"Piya" Misha called, touching her shoulder when she did not open her eyes.

"Noo" Piya muttered without opening her eyes, her voice getting louder "help... Please... No... Le-ave me... Pl-easee"

Abhay took a step backward, her pain stabbing him. The fact, he failed her was anguishing him further.

"Piya, you're fine. Open your eyes, Piya." Misha shook her, trying to wake her up "you're safe"

"No, Abhay help." Piya gasped for breath, shaking her head in frenzy.

"Piya open your eyes" Abhay called, softly.

Piya sat up with jerk, her breathing was irregular, but she kept on mumbling, unable to assess her surrounding. She was still stuck on that horrible stage, where she tortured mentally and physically.

Misha tried to hold her but she tried to get away from Misha. She was in panic, still living that horrible nightmare, she never thought of.

Abhay watched her with withered face.

"Abhay help... Abhay" Piya shouted going berserk, while pushing Misha who was trying to hold her.

Abhay flinched and watched her with despair. Her shouts were flaming him alive. He could not see her in that state and he could not look away either.

Misha tried to control her, trying to make her aware of her surroundings but Piya was too trapped in the monstrous moment to pay heed to Misha.

Unable to control himself anymore, Abhay gestured Misha to move and sat beside Piya, engulfing her in a tight hug. She tried to push him away, too, but Abhay held her strongly.

"Sshhh, am here. Am with you, Piya. Am with you. You're safe." Abhay whispered in her ears, caressing her with affection and care. His own voice was drowned in sadness.

"Abhay..." Piya breathed, calming down in his arms, still lost of her surrounding.

"Am here. Calm down. Am with you." Abhay muttered, holding her closer to him. He was not just assuring her but himself too.

She buried her face in his chest and kept on mumbling his name.

Silence prevailed after some minutes and Abhay found her asleep in his arms. He caressed her innocent face with pain in his eyes. Carefully he, made her lay on bed.

Moving away the strands of hair from her face, he covered her with duvet. He watched her for a long minute. She was so innocent and suffered so much. Despite, his promise, he did not protect her either.

Closing his eyes, Abhay looked away. He tried to move but Piya held his hand in sleep.

"Abhay..." She whispered the name of the only person who provided her solace in her world of misery.

Abhay sat beside her and leaned on headboard, caressing her head. His eyes fall on Misha, standing at distance.

Misha stood with tears in her eyes and a hand pressed on her mouth to suppress her sobs. Regret and guilt was clear in her eyes.

Abhay sighed at Misha state but said nothing to relief her from the burden of her guilt. She was at fault and Piya was suffering. So, he was not going to provide any comforting word to the person who hurt Piya, even if unitentionally.

Haseena arrived and assessed the sight in silence. Misha wiped away her tears and Abhay looked at sleeping Piya.

"I heard her screams" Haseena said almost understanding what might have really happen.

Abhay nodded as if confirming her hunch.

"Update the doctor" Abhay ordered without looking away from sleeping Piya.
