Chapter 4
(Piya's POV)
I decided to go to the hospital nearest to home. City Hospital. I rethought this decision of stealing blood. I went with it, because it was the only way I had to survive without taking another innocent person's life.
I found the doors locked once I reached there. There a security guard at the entrance, sitting on the chair sleeping. He most likely had the key to the door. But how do I get it?
I remembered papa telling me that vampires can hypnotize anyone at will to get humans to do what they want. That could be useful to me right now. I went over to the security guard and shook him awake.
"What ma'am? What do you want? Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?!" He said, cranky.
"I want you to unlock the doors of the hospital." I said, trying to get into his mind.
He was responsive. He got up without saying a word and unlocked the door. I smiled to myself. I couldn't believe it worked. He came back and sat back down on his chair.
"Forget all of this. Forget I ever came. Go back to sleep." I coaxed him.
I quietly stepped inside of the hospital. Luckily I knew every nook and cranny of this place, as mama used to work here as a nurse.
It was quiet and dark inside. Only a few nurses were around. I did my best to avoid them. There was one nurse at the reception. She was buried in a very thick book. I tried to sneak around her, but in vain. She noticed me and abruptly got out of her seat.
"Hey miss! Visiting hours are over...who let you inside?"
I realized I needed to shut her up, so I used my new power to control her.
"You didn't see anything. You are just reading your book at the reception desk." I said to her.
She walked back to the reception, completely silent. She picked up her book and began reading again.
I tiptoed down the corridor to the blood bank. It was weird. I used to hate being around here, but it made me feel uneasy. But now I wanted to be here.
The scent hit my nose right when I walked in. I felt my fangs extend at the sight and smell of the blood. I wanted all of it, but that wasn't possible.
I quickly took some of the bags and stuffed them into my bag. I didn't want to take too much, in case a critical patient needed it. It felt weird to be in here. Whenever papa and I came here, I always felt uncomfortable and disgusted. Now I am here, completely sane.
"That should suffice for a while." I said. I hurried to get out of there.
The security guard was still asleep, just like I left him. I slowly closed the door and escaped. I went back the way I came.
I found the stream again and sat down net to it. Now what do I do? Where am I going to stay? Surely being outside will pose a threat to me. I will burn to a crisp in the morning. I needed shelter.
I wandered the quiet forest, in search of some kind of shelter. I eventually stumbled upon a hut. It was a bit run down, but it was good enough for me. I rushed towards it.
It was empty. Only a lantern was present, in one corner of the room. I lied down on the bed of hay and set my bag to the side. I never felt so lonely. I have to spend the rest of eternity like this, with no one. I tried to accept my fate, but it was difficult. I thought about all the happy times in my life, hoping that they would come back and replace this emotion called loneliness.
I needed to find the vampire who turned me. I could only get answers from that vampire.
