I couldn't take the loud music and crowd anymore so I decided to take some fresh air. I was walking in the garden alone.
"Hey you dropped this." Someone said from behind.I turned around to see a guy holding my cell phone.
"Thanks a lot" I said taking my phone back.
I was sitting on the bench when I heard Abhay's voice. "What are you doing here? I've been searching you inside."
"I am sorry I needed some fresh air."
"You don't like partying and all, huh?" he asked sitting beside me.
"No, I am not much of a party person or I should say I am quite boring."
"I won't say that. I think you're really interesting. Just because you don't get drunk and dance with your top off doesn't mean you're boring."
"I like that." I smiled.
He smiled back. "You know what I know a place you're going to love. Let's go." He said standing up.
"But what about the party."
"You really think I give a damn" He smirked.
He took me to the lake where I first saw him. It was beautiful. The reflection of full moon in the water was enough to send anyone's heart aflutter. The stars that were accompanying the moon were twinkling like angels in the heaven.
"Marvelous" I exclaimed.
"I knew you would love it." He smiled.
"I love it! Thanks a lot for bringing me here." I said.
He came towards me smiling and then he leaned on me.
pia's phone started ringing. "It's mom." She said looking at the phone.(guys jo conversation ho rahi woh misha and pia beach hai u guys already know that pia telling story to misha about her past three months.)
"What? Wait! You can't pick it up." misha said nervously.
"But why?" pia asked.
"You have to tell me first what happened at the lake."
"It's mom on the phone, it might be urgent." pia said.
"He leaned on you for God's sake tell me what happened next?" misha said grabbing pia's phone.
"mish, give my phone back. Let me take this call and I promise I'll tell you."
misha gave her phone back to her. pia took the call. Her mom said she wanted her to come home immediately as some guests were coming for dinner. She hang up.
"So did he kiss you?" misha asked smiling naughtily.
"I have to leave. Some guests are arriving for dinner. Mom needs help. I am sorry." pia said.
"What? No, you can't leave. Tell me what happened next."
"I am sorry mish I have to leave, I promise I'll tell you everything tomorrow." pia left.
pia was sitting alone in her room. She was thinking about the time she spent in London with her aunt and with Abhay. Abhay had become a ghost for her. He haunted her every now and then. She used to feel lonely in the crowd but now she had a companion in her solitude. She tried to shrug his thought but all the efforts were in vain. She knew she could never forget him. She was possessed by him.
She appeared normal to everyone in her college and in home. But people who were closed to her noticed some sort of change in her. One of the guests at the dinner remarked that she has changed for good, that she has become more outspoken. She didn't say a word and just smiled. How could she tell them who changed her?
She was lost in her thoughts and suddenly the phone rang. She looked at the screen, it was a familiar number. She decided not to take the call but it wasn't stopping ringing. At last, she picked up the phone.
"Hey pia how are you? We've never talked ever since you departed from here" Said the caller.
"What do you want to talk about alina? Will you please stop bothering me?" asked pia furiously.
"I know I have not been a good friend. I know I broke your trust and I am sorry for that. But there's something you need to know."
"And what is that?" asked pia.
"Abhay has disappeared" said alina with concern in her voice.
"What?"
"Yeah, he was in such a bad shape after you left. He never talked with anyone. He became a loner. And 2 days ago he disappeared."
"Where is he now?" pia asked nervously.
"No one knows. Mr. raickson said he didn't say a word before leaving. He said that he met Abhay a day before he left at the bar. Abhay was looking devastated."
"Stop" pia said furiously.
"I don't want to hear a thing about him. I know he made you say all these things. Please don't waste my time and don't bother me again." pia hung up.
pia was in the library when misha texted.
"Meet me at the park" pia read.
She put her books in the back and rushed out of the college.
misha was sitting on the bench. It was their favorite place in the whole world. They played with dolls and shared their dreams on the same bench.
"Since when do we keep secrets from each other?" misha asked annoyingly as she saw pia approaching.
"You can justify yourself later. Tell me first did he kiss you?" misha asked curiously.
"Can't it wait? I was preparing for the assignment" pia said sitting on the bench.
"No it can't. Now tell me what happened next?"
PIA Sighed. "Well, we were at this lake talking and then suddenly he leaned his head towards me and..."
"And?" misha cut her in between.
"And he pulled the eyelash from my cheek and asked me to make a wish" smiled pia and continued. "I did what he said."
"What happened then?" asked misha.
"What did you wish for?" Abhay asked me.
"I am not going to tell you." I replied.
"Oh come on tell me."
"Some people say that if you reveal your wish to anyone then it never gets fulfilled."
"Well, whatever it is, I hope it comes true." He winked.
"This is the place where we saw each other here for the first time." I said looking at the lake.
"You remember, huh?" Abhay smirked.
"I have a really sharp memory."
He laughed.
"No, you don't. Technically, we saw each other for the first time in the caf."
"Yeah I remember but I came here to see the lake and caf is just a minute away" I said in my defense.
"You were sitting with a large group of friends and it looked like you were discussing something serious." I said.
"Yea, actually we were discussing a case. Those people are not my friends, not all actually. It was part of our assignment" he explained.
"Have you always wanted to be a lawyer?" I asked.
"I don't know. It was my father's dream and so I am fulfilling it." He sighed.
"That means it's not what interests you." I said.
"It doesn't matter anymore; I quite like this law thing now."
"What did you dream of doing or becoming?" I asked.
"I wanted to join the army. I wanted to serve my country."
"That's a brave thing."
"Yeah, and you know what? Girls love men in uniform." He said naughtily.
"You are...you are..."
"Handsome? I know I am." He said completing my sentence.
"In your dreams." I replied.
"We should go now." I said.
"Wait. Let's take a picture first." Abhay said.
The car stopped in front of Aunt's house.
"I had an amazing time" I smiled.
"Me too."
"pia what did you wish for?" he asked curiously as I was about to open the door of the car.
"Why do you want to know?" I smiled.
"I am just curious."
"It's forbidden one is not supposed to say it."
"Make an exception please." He insisted.
"Nope, sorry."
He sighed. You're a hard headed girl.
All night I couldn't stop thinking about the lake, to be honest, I couldn't stop thinking about Abhay. I woke up around 8 got ready and rushed downstairs. I was looking for aunt when I heard the noise coming from kitchen. "
She's in the kitchen" I said to myself.
I hurried to the kitchen and my jaw dropped. It was Abhay chopping onions.
"Good morning sunshine." He smiled.
"Good morning Sunshine" smiled Abhay again.
"Morning" I was astonished.
"Come on breakfast is ready" he said coming out of the kitchen.
I walked behind him to the dining room. Aunt was sitting on the table. I looked at her inquisitively. She smiled and said, "Abhay insisted on making the breakfast."
He looked at me and sarcastically said, "I hope you don't mind."
"Of course not." I said rolling my eyes.
We all sat down to eat. Aunt told me Abhay came to inquire about her health.
"I thought I should flaunt my cooking skills. So how is the omelet?" he asked curiously.
"Not bad...not good either." I said rolling my eyes.
"You see Ms. dobrial that's what I like about her. She's damn honest. Ever since we have met she's been trying to tell me to bugger off." Said Abhay with his trademark smile.
"I am sure you're mistaking dear. She might appear to be tough on the surface but she's very soft and gentle from inside" said Aunt.
"I am dying to explore that" said Abhay looking at me.
"In case you both haven't noticed I am present here so will you please stop discussing me?" I said irritatingly.
"The breakfast was fantastic" said Aunt smilingly.
"Yep it was good" said I
"Really pia?" he asked sarcastically.
"Get ready we've to go to the clinic" I said ignoring his question.
"I'm feeling fine today. I don't want to go." said aunt sitting on the couch.
"No, you can't skip your check up. It's good that you're feeling fine but that doesn't mean you refuse to go." said I sitting beside her.
"I don't feel like going anywhere today and Abhay is here. We should not leave like this."
"Oh no, don't worry about me. I was about to leave." said Abhay. "the hospital comes in my way I can drop you if you want."
"Well, that's fine then. I'll pick you up later." said I.
"Wait, aren't you coming?" he asked curiously.
"No. Hurry up she's getting late. I really appreciate this." I said smiling.
He smiled back.
After doing the chores I decided to call aunt. She said she'll be done within an hour. I decided to take a walk. When I was locking the door I heard some noises from the house next to door. Someone was moving in. There was a truck and people were unloading the furniture. Suddenly a photo frame fell on the ground from a bag half unzipped. I picked it up.
"Thanks a lot." a voice said. I got up to see a familiar face. He was smiling at me. I felt like I've seen this guy before.
"Have we met before?" he asked me.
"I guess we have but I don't remember. Here your photo frame." I said giving the frame to him.
"Oh yeah! I saw you at the party last night. You dropped your wallet in the garden and I gave it back to you" he said.
"Yes, that's you. That's why I was wondering why you look familiar."
"Hi I am Jey"
"Hey I am pia. So you're moving in here?"
"Yes, I am here for further studies."
"That's good."
"You live nearby?" he asked.
"I live in the house next to yours." I said pointing the house.
"Actually I don't live here. I am here for my summer vacations. I live with my aunt Ms. dobrial."
"It's good that we're neighbors, at least I know someone here." he said smiling.
"If you need anything just let us know." I said.
"Sure."
"Okay then, I'll see you later." and I left.
"Some on has moved in the house next door." I told aunt.
"I hope they are nice people."
"It's just a boy." I said.
"You know him?"
"I saw him at the party."
"Okay. Tell him he can ask us if he needs anything."
"I already told him."
"Good. BTW Abhay kept talking about you in the car till we reached the hospital." Said aunt with a smile on her face.
"What?"
"Yes, he kept talking about you. He was asking about your likes and dislikes. I think he likes you."
"It's not that. You don't know him. alina told me everything about him." I said.
"And you believed her?" asked aunt.
"But why would she lie? Besides, I've spent enough time with him to form my own opinion."
"People change pia. I've seen how love changes people."
"You know a lot about love. Have you ever been in love?" I asked curiously.
"I still am." Aunt smiled.
"What? Who is it?"
"Your Uncle."
"You never talked about him."
"He was the love of my life. We were madly in love with each other but..."
Someone knocked the door.
"Damn!" I exclaimed.
I opened the door, it was Jey.
"Hey. I hope I didn't disturb."
"Oh no, please come in."
I introduced Aunt to Jey. She talked with him for a few minutes and went to her room to rest. Jey and I decided to take a walk in the fields.
"It's a small but beautiful town." He said.
"I used to come here during holidays when I was a kid. It's been 5 years since I came here last time."
"Many famous writers were born here." Said he.
"True. Do you read?" I asked.
"I do. I love reading."
"Me too. In fact I am a literature student."
"Finally found someone to discuss literature with." He said excitedly.
Jey and I hit it off instantly. He was an intellectual person.
Next day I went shopping with alina and met Abhay in the mall. alina had to leave early because of some work.
"I was looking at the clothes when Abhay picked up a red top and said, "It will look good on you."
"I don't think so" said I.
"It's a gift. You are not allowed to make choices." Said he throwing the top on my face.
"That was rude weirdo." I said furiously.
"Who was that guy with you last night?" he asked furiously and leaned on me.
"You were there?"
"Who is he?" he looked annoyed.
"He's Jey, aunt's new neighbor. I saw him in your friend's party too. He's a nice guy"
"You just met him."
"So?" I asked.
"I hope you say the same thing about me to others." He smirked.
"No, I've known you for a while now." I said pushing him back.
"Whoa! You mean I am not a nice guy?"
"What were you doing there?" I changed the topic.
"Answer my question first."
"You're the best damn thing." I said sarcastically.
He smiled and said, "I may not be the best damn thing but I am the 'best' thing for you."
