CHAPTER 4- THE CONCERT
Finally Pia reached back to the main hall after giving Abhay a long lingering kiss on his lips so that they will be able to bear with their separation for a while. As soon as she reached there Misha jumped up on her startling Pia totally " Pia where were you? We were so worried for you, you dumbo. Even Kabir was unable to search you. What's the reason behind this Mr. india act haan"she says in one breath.
Pia trying to explain her- "Chill Misha yaar break laga shatabdi express. I was not lost actually I found a long lost friend of mine so I just went on talking to her and didn't even realised about the time"
Misha asked confused- "old friend but Pia your memory."
Pia says trying to cover up "Misha she was a friend when I was in the orphanage"
Jai suddenly popped in-"Where is she now"
Pia got irritated by this sudden interruption in their sisterly talk "She has left already as she has some far better works to do than listen to this madness She came here only to hand over a parcel to her uncle who is in the organizing committee of this concert. Anyways why are you all behaving like FBI agents and bombarding questions after question at me haan. Is it a crime to spend a little bit of time with my friend" she asks fuming
Jai understood that Pia is again angry so he muttered weakly- "Its not like that Pia . We are just concerned for you"
Pia also softened at this- "Oh I m sorry Jai. Its just that I m feeling a bit tired ,excess of work is taking toll over me. So what about the concert ? Is it commencing or not"
Jai- "Yaa just 20 minutes left"
Suddenly Alina jumped in joy- "See Abhay also came back"
Abhay came forward and apologised- "Sorry guys. Dad called me it was really urgent. Could not force myself to dodge it." He says glancing at Pia who was smiling brilliantly with her head down in shyness recalling their love session and was fidgeting with that promise ring that symbolises their unbreakable bond
Kabir could not help but feel like appreciating both of them "they sure are good liers"he thought fondly
"Its ok Abhay. I'm glad you finally came, I was missing you" says Alina holding his hand lovingly
Abhay also returned the gesture by squeezing her hand "Yaa even I missed you". With this he threw a glance at Pia to see her reaction at his statement. But she seems relaxed gesturing him by her eye movement that she trust him and understand that why he is doing it. A big smile got crept on his beautiful face realising that how lucky he is to have Pia in his life who is so understanding and sweet.
Misha broke their chain of thoughts by yelling "lets get seated guys otherwise we will lose our seat and I don't think it will be a pleasing experience to witness the concert hanging from the balcony"
By now the whole auditorium is filled with all the well known people of Dehradun. Even many of the prestigious persons from other parts of the country have reached here to witness this extraordinary show. The whole place was buzzing. The auditorium was gracefully set up to host this event. It is a well made audi built in thrust shape almost semicircular. Even though the auditorium has a seating capacity of less than 2,200 which is not considered good enough for an arena concert, its still looking extravagantly perfect to host the big show. The front face of the building is decorated with rose marble columns, friezes, sculpture groups and two large glided statues. The auditorium is lavishly decorated with red velvet, plaster cherubs and gold leaf with a magnificent chandelier in the middle. The strobe lights were shining everywhere creating an electrifying atmosphere . Large black curtains have been put up in front of the central stage as some stage work was going on right now
People were busy chatting and admiring each other. Angad and Ruhi are coochi cooing in a corner as the most sideways seats were provided to them so that nobody can disturb them and better enough they won't be able to disturb anyone. Misha, Kabir, Jai, Pia , Abhay and Alina are sitting in between the row next to each other in the above mentioned order while T and her chamchis were made to sit with some high society aunties who were right now busy eating their non existing brains. Pia was sitting in between Abhay and Jai but all her attention was on Abhay who was getting quite annoyed because of Alina's continuous blabbering about her new dress and make up while leaning onto his shoulders. But this time Pia was relaxed, she could not help but smile looking at the strange faces Abhay is making because of the royal treatment he is getting from Alina. Abhay also smiled back looking at Pia's glowing face which was looking so soulful due to the love emanacating from it for him that its getting really difficult for him to move his gaze away from her. She always look angelic whenever she smile but today the aura around her is really radiating making him crazy for her. Unknowingly he feels something in his heart because of her immense happiness. He was feeling at peace because he knows that he himself is the one and the only reason of her happiness .This has filled his dead heart with lots of pride and satisfaction. Pia is flyng today in her own heaven. She is feeling truly blessed to to get Abhay's love in every sense. This is the first time he has shown his love to her in a humanly manner otherwise either his supernatural saviour acts or his deep blue eyes which are a reflection of the love and purity he is containing inside him that he hides quite nicely from the rest of the world , speaks for him and his love. All this looks like a dream to her but if it's a dream she just don't want to get out of it. Abhay is all she needs, all she desire for. He is her life line, the proof of her existence. She is praying to god that somehow everything should get settled and they will get out of this mess. She was imagining happily ever after of her's and Abhay's love story when when Jai disturbed her chain of thoughts
Jai "Where are you Pia. Why are you looking so lost. You are looking like you are in some other world. Is there a problem? You can tell me anything you want."
Pia says finally gathering herself "No Jai I m fine. I am just trying to get the feel of this place. Its been a while since I attended a live concert. My last one was when I was in London 6 months ago"
Jai exclaimed "oh" , he stop for a while and then took her hand into his and start massaging it with his thumb and says " By the way did I tell you, how beautiful and sexy you are looking today. You have seriously blown me off with this appealing look.I always found you irresistible but today you are driving me crazy babes " Pia was feeling quite uncomfortable with his words and Abhay was clutching the chair tightly to stop himself from snapping Jai's neck off. But Jai continued with his tactics ,he raised her hand upto his lips and kissed it passionately highly pressing his lips and then he moved to her cheeks and kissed the one on his side gently
Pia was holding the chair tightly by now closing her eyes so as to stop herself from yelling at him in front of all of her friends she was more worried about Abhay's reaction right now as she could sense his anger. He is looking like a burning charcoal at present who is about to explode anytime but when Jai took her other hand into his ,she just could not hold back she took her hand back almost pushing him and shouted furiously "Jai what are you doing we are in a public place, look so many people are watching us so behave". She was feeling really embarrassed right now. If any man in this world has the right to kiss her its Abhay and no one else. But Jai is getting onto her nerves. She has to stop this otherwise she has no idea what Abhay will do. The situation can get out of control.
With this Misha popped in "Its ok Pia if you say we can close our eyes ,at least we can pretend to do so" she said winking at Pia
Pia got out of control now "Shut the hell up Misha stay out of this ok and mind your tongue"
Misha was taken aback by the way Pia has replied to her so she thought it would be better to stay quiet for the time being. But Jai tries to hold her hand again "We are in a relationship Pia so why does it bother anyone else if I will kiss my gf"
She snaps at him "It doesn't bother them but I m bothered. If you are shameless I m not and I told you to take our relation slowly. So I insist you to maintain distance. I want some space" with this she moved her head to the other side leaving Jai all angry and worked up. Why is she playing so hard to get and why is she behaving so rudely with him these days. She has never let him get close to her but this is extreme .She has insulted him in front of their friends and his own sister. He has pulled up this stunt at first place because of their presence only so that she could not turn him down but damn she did ,that too quite nicely.
Abhay is clearly fuming. He has clutched Alina tightly and loosened his grip only when she complained after realising that its not a protective hold rather a forced and an angry one. He seriously want to skin Jai alive for saying such words for Pia and trying to touch his love. He is losing his temper to an extent that he was afraid that that he might start transforming. But Pia held his hand beneath the chair and look at him pleading to control himself and assuring him that she belongs to him only. So he started taking deep breaths to get a grip on himself.
Meanwhile Kabir was enjoying his time thoroughly with Misha who kept on telling him that how much she loves metal music and rock bands. He loves this Misha only and her dress and looks doesn't matter to him but today even she has knocked him out with her bold look. Its too bad that nobody has ever noticed before how beautiful she is. Although he was still thinking about the unexpected scene he has encountered while searching for Pia. But he think its better to talk to Pia first and try to listen to her form of truth and then reach to any conclusion. There should be a big reason due to which they are hiding their relationship and playing with other's hearts. He has seen how Pia has reacted when Jai tried to touch her. So its obvious that she only loves Abhay who was her past but why are they hiding it from others? He somehow wants to know this. After all its Pia who is important to him not Abhay or Jai. He will go to the bottom of it. He will not even tell Misha about it till then.
Finally the curtains were raised and and the spectacular stage is visible. What is set up on the stage is nothing less than a big electronic studio with two towers of giant speakers, professional sound and lighting equipment including tunnel roof truss system with lighting truss and ground support system.
Finally the announcer initiated the concert "welcome to all of you to this one of its kind of concert. Its great to see so many music entusiasts men and women here celebrating the biggest carnival of the year. Are you all happy to be here" he asked almost shouting pointing his mike towards the audience . A chorus of yes hummed throughout the audi. Misha shouted almost tearing Kabir's ear buds into pieces. The announcer continues "music is meant to trigger reactions, invite reflections, awaken feelings, activate memories and touch the heart. So just let yourself be affected and enjoy this evening" With this the concert kick off with a bang. The band members gather on the stage. There were two musicians from the original wolfmother band present, one on sax and other on electric guitar. There was a girl on piano who was not quite visible as she was at the back with only one side of her showing through the audience.
Opening with the three ponged punch of "Dimension", "Cosmic egg" and "California queen" the band announced its new album with full aplomb. The sound was dense and hard driving and with a light show worthy of a stadium gig

Abhay and Pia were just looking at each other throughout this song. Their hands were entwined beneath the chair. They were gazing each other letting their eyes speak for them .Abhay was feeling like dedicating this song for Pia. They were quite oblivious of the fact that Jai was watching this whole staring session with immense rage burning inside him. He wanted to kill Abhay right there only if given a chance. But the two lovers are lost in their own world where no one else exist except them. Even Alina noticed this . She was startled by seeing the intense passion with which they are looking at each other. Their eye lock broke down with the start of a new song "Joker and the thief"

Kabir was amused seeing Misha who was so excited that she keeps on jumping up from the chair and making different moves , shouting so much that kabir was sure that he will be needing half a dozen of aspirins tonight to fall asleep. She was flicking her long curly hair into his face as she shook her head madly with the music. She holds Kabir's hand unknowingly due to which Kabir's heart skipped a beat. He has never felt this way before ,not even when he was with Pia. Misha has really taken over his whole existence. Then they started jamming to her favourite band. It was a very special moment for him because Misha is there with him. She was always on his side during good and bad times but this time his feelings were different altogether.
The latest single "New Moon Rising" paved the way for the track that has put the band on the map "Woman" a skittish metal homage to all thing shapely

Everyone was moving to the beat. It seems that this hardened , imperious Dehradun crowd was genuinely appreciative of the music, applauded and screamed all at right places, even anticipated some of the lyrics. Was this because of the popularity of the band or because of the fact that one of these band members will soon going to be a part and parcel of dehradun's life or both? Whatever be the basis, this crowd seemed seriously into music
But Abhay seems a bit disturbed now. This song reminded him of a girl, a friend he has lost a long time back. He didn't know where this thought came from. Its been quite a time since he has thought about her. But today he is missing her badly. He could sense something familiar in the air but could not exactly figure out what it is. May be he is hallucinating a lot because of Pia's company so he shrugged this feeling off.
Finally they finished their group performance with "Pleased to meet you" which again reminded Abhay of her. "Abhay what are you doing dude. She has left you and she is not coming back. Why are you thinking about her all of a sudden"he tried to remind himself to not to lose his conscience
And then announcer came forward and speaks in high pitched voice "Now all of you get ready for the last song of the evening. It will be sang by the only female member of this band. Yes a girl and it will be quite wary of wolfmother type songs. She is dedicating this song to someone special and she is here to stay in Dehradun .Its because of her insistence that you all are witnessing this concert. So lets give a big round of applause to Miss Katherine Decausta. Abhay got startled hearing the name why everything is reminding him of her. Finally the girl came in front of the stage wearing a lovely sequin charcoal colour dress with strapless sweetheart neckline and strips of extra sequins with a zipper. She was looking radiant. Although her face was not perfectly visible due the big crowd, distance and the shadow of lights on the stage but some guys fainted after just getting a glimpse of her. Her beauty was impossible to be described especially when she was not perfectly in view. But Abhay didn't have to see her completely, the moment has frozen for him there only. She was the one he was craving to get a slight glimpse of from past many years but she never came back. Is it possible, is it the same Catherine he knows. As if hit by a sharp wood he kept on staring at that girl on the stage without blinking his eyes trying to confirm his luck.
The girl finally speaks in her melodious voice which sounds like a humming voice of hundreds of butterflies in unison "This song is meant for someone really special to me, someone really close to my heart. I have hurted him a lot by going away from him without telling him the actual reason. But I m here to apologise, I know he is hearing me I hope u will forgive me" and then she started singing "Back to December"

the audience were transfixed and transported as she sang , stir their imagination. Only a labour of love can unearth this kind of magic. Finally the song ended. For a second nobody responded. Its like they have transported to some other world. Finally getting out of it they clapped wildly. Some of them had tears in their eyes and Abhay was frozen all over again its like he has forgot to even breath . The most unexpected thing in his life has happened right here.
