He was doing this only to keep Piya away from him. Subconsciously she knew this and her heart was always telling her that Abhay cares for Piya, but he is hiding something from her. So she always wanted the truth to come out.
But this is a different situation, where Abhay had already clarified that he is with Alina only because of his Dad's instruction and Abhay loves and can only love Piya.
Piya always wanted to tell the world that Abhay is with her, but he had always requested that their relationship should be kept as a secret as it would endanger Piya's life.
But seeing Abhay with Alina,its not just jealousy or insecurity alone, infact a silent anger that she could never be with Abhay like this with all the people cheering them as best couple.
First it was jealousy seeing another girl with Abhay, then the feeling of insecurity that Abhay, though in love with her , will never accept her before others and moreover whateer be the reasons, he is showing to the world that he and Alina are in relationship.
It is the same feeling she had for her mother when her father, no matter, how much he loved her, could not accept her in Public. Ofcourse not that Abhay will end up in marriage with Alina or any other girl like Arnab did. But before the world, he would never accept Piya as his love.
