I don't know about Dehradun but the kind of crowd Kabir belongs to, in Delhi, everyone drinks underage! People are totally talli at the age of 12-13. Not a thing to be proud of but *sigh* thats how it is. So the writers are just portraying a realistic picture. Youth will not have any effect from this. Rather, I think the writer was effected from the youth today. And if you've lost respect for Kabir, then I guess you don't hold respect for anyone because almost every person drinks underage, not talli wala but social wala.

P.S. This is strictly my personal opinion that if you're losing respect for a person just because he drinks, underage or otherwise, then its a very wrong criteria to judge a person. Drinking is a bad habit but it doesn't make the person a bad human being! Please lose respect for people who rape, murder, wife-beat, etc. Kabir drinking today didn't harm anyone! So no reason to lose respect for him!
