Abhay's POV

(Abhay talking to Kabir )

I shrugged back on the beanbag.

''You know I wasn't going to hurt her.'' He said. ''I couldn't have. I wouldn't.

''Yeah right.'' I rolled my eyes. ''You know you could have, and you would have if you wanted to.''

''Exactly.'' He jumped out of his seat and sat beside me. ''If I would have, I could have killed her before you came. But I didn't want to. So I didn't.''

I gazed in his eyes for a second. Pretty scary for a human if you look in their eyes without blinking. But he is not a human, so he knows.

And, this gazing wasn't for fun. We know when a person is lying or not. It's like intuition. 6 sense. No horns come up or a angel's crown even. You just know when he's lying. You have to trust your inner self for that. And I knew he wasn't lying. I wasn't quite sure how?

''Why?'' I said, gaze not moving. ''Why wouldn't you have killed her? You were there, in front of her, moving towards her.''

''There is a fine line between moving and pouncing''. He rolled his eyes this time. ''Dude, ain't this getting a bit too much? I know she is a human, and you don't want me killing humans like that. And I sensed something special about her. I quite can't figure out what.''

I tensed. But then I relaxed. He would sense my discomfort. He would know that the specialness about her is related to me.

''It's you, isn't it?'' He jumped. ''I knew. She is your ''someone special''. Oh god, why didn't I think of this earlier?''

''No'' I tried to lie, but I knew there was no point. Sometimes, being a vampire suck.

''Look dude, I won't kill her.'' He said. Looking into my eyes. I tried to pick a lie. But couldn't. and then I sensed it. A sense of discomfort. Tension. Nerves.

''You would.'' I stepped back. ''You would kill her. ''

He grinned. ''Maybe. I have a right. You know. You killed my someone special too.''

''I didn't.'' I stepped back further. ''It wasn't my fault. You came after me. I told you not to.''

He took a step forward. ''And I warned you not to go in the forest alone. But you did. And I had to come after you. I couldn't let my brother die, could I? I came after you, but too late. You were already dead. Bitten by him. And when he saw me, he bit me too. He changed me into a vampire. And it's all your fault.''

His voice changed into a deep roar of lions. Like a predator just about to pounce but trying to control himself. Abhay wanted to comfort him. But he knew this wasn't the time.

''You are the reason he bit me.'' He continued. ''If you had listened to me, If you didn't go to the forest all alone, You would have stayed a human. Living a normal life. But I had to save you. And I turned into a vampire too. And she…'' He trailed off. Like he was about to cry. But couldn't. He was a vampire. He couldn't cry. ''She..She stayed human. Do you hear me? Nisha stayed human. She died. I was gifted eternity. And she was human. And she died.''

He fell back onto the sofa. I just stood there. Frozen. He was right. I was the one he got bitten for. I am the reason he changed and acquired eternity. ''But I didn't kill her.'' I managed to say in a small voice.

''You didn't. Circumstances did. Nature did. She was a human. And she had to die. But I needed to die too. I needed to die with her.'' He looked up at me. ''But you stole it. You stole my happy ending. I watched her die and I couldn't do anything. Couldn't even kill myself to be with her. I just can't.''

''So are you planning to kill Pia too?'' I asked cautiously. ''Kabir, you know she wasn't your imprinted soulmate. Your soulmate stays with you in whatever form you are. She was just another girl.''

''No.'' He shook his head. He became furious in a second. ''You don't understand, do you? Just another girl?'' He snorted. ''I wouldn't cry for a 'just another girl' till 200 years. She was the girl I imprinted upon, do u hear that? She was, and she will be. There will be no other.''

He walked away from the room.
