READY, STEADY, GO!

Model-turned actor Indraneil Sengupta is ready to take on cut-throat competition in the big bad world of small screen.

If small screen is big today, than bagging a lead role in a television serial is nothing less than an achievement. Model Indraneil Sengupta is ready to make his debut as the lead actor in Rajshri production's second TV soap that will go on air soon.

He knows he's another model who has taken up acting and is ready for the comparisons. However considering the fact that he was in the same batch as John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra at Kishor Namit Kapoor's acting class, comparisons will be nothing less than cruel.

"You can't help it as criticism comes more naturally to people than appreciation. So one has to be patient and do his work," quips Indraneil.

His batchmates seemed to have zoomed ahead of him? "They deserve to be where they are today." Quiz him a bit more and he reveals that John has certain qualities that he doesn't have and that's what made the whole difference.

"Networking with the right kind of people is a talent and John has it in plenty. The way he connects with people is amazing. Also apart from the luck factor, all his career decisions were well thought out," he elaborates.

So does he fear getting lost in the crowd as another model turned actor? He says no. "There is lots of work now in the industry. Moreover, thanks to exposure people have to Hollywood flicks, traditional good looks are no longer
mandatory for success."

So is he ready to take on the the competitive telly world? "Yes, one enters the industry only after knowing it." Though, he admits that getting offers from production houses earlier but didn't take them "as I was scared."

But if one gets his first break as lead in a big banner like Rajshri production there is nothing to worry about as "there are no budget crunches so there is no compromise on the production value.

They have a disciplined work culture and comfortable shooting hours. Unlike many other who, if shooting wraps up early, start shooting for next day's schedule as well."

Indraneil admits that he does not believe in work excesses. "I do not want to slog round the clock to cash in on the initial fame. That way you'll get exhausted very early in your career. I would rather focus on quality than quantity.

More so because your career depends on longevity and you have to defy your age to last longer in the profession. I know my limitations and strengths and try to give my 100 per cent keeping them in my mind.

Acting is my profession just like any other. I am here to do a job and not for self-actualisation," he states as a matter of fact.
