It was a beautiful clear morning the entire family did the morning pooja together. Aarti made the Prasad to share after G3 finished the arti; all were happy especially the kids who were teenagers ANsh and Palak sixteen, Payel fifteen, Ayu nine and another baby boy Aayan six.
The Scindhia house was a happy place Prateek and Paridhi did not have any kids of their own and Aarya decided to share their little ones with them so the two youngest were named Aayu Prateek Yash Scindhia and Aayan Prateek Yash Scindhia that way both Yash and Prateek's name would move forward. Ansh on the other hand as he grew he wanted to also include his Taju and chachu names in his name because he loved all as his papas.
This day they expected guest whom they had not seen or heard from in years the first to arrive were old friends of SP who had a granddaughter of marriageable age and were considering Vidhi and Pankaj's son for the groom.
They arrived and the introductions done and tea and snacks served . Ansh Palak and Payel were out for dance classes arrived and SP introduced them
"Mr Ramsingh these are my grandkids my grandson Ansh Yash's eldest and Palak and Payel my granddaughters"
"Your grandson I thought he is the stepson the son of another man someone else's blood" said Mr Ramsingh
SP who became annoyed replied "Ansh is my grandson while it is true he has someone else's blood in his veins he became my grandson when Aarti and Yash agreed to get their punar vivah he is Yash's son through marriage to Aarti and legal adoption. We all love our Ansh very much and he loves and makes us very proud. My Anshu is brilliant in his studies, a talented artist , a bit naughty but very respectful"
Mr Ramsingh said" I think it is a waste of money to spend on a child who is not your own he will turn against you one day or cause you some great embarrassment"
Yash was ready to defend his son but Aarti stopped him with one look clearly indicating no let bauji handle it.
"SP ji you have your own grandsons to shower your wealth and love on why do that with an outsider Vidant is the eldest grandson and he should be the rightful heir to your wealth why deprive him and Yash's two sons of their birth right by sharing with another man's son. What I don't understand is why did you allow your son to marry a used woman with a child when there are so many unmarried educated beautiful woman aviliable"
Yash was about to pounce on the stupid man when Pankaj stood up and said "Mr Ramsingh I am happy this topic came up; you are here because you desire for our two families to join through marriage. I want to know from your daughter what does she think about Ansh being the stepson of this family and what is her opinion of a punar vivah"
The daughter was taken by surprise she looked at her parents then answered "Uncle ji I believe blood relations should be first this is how I was brought up; but I see the love in your eyes also in your brothers eyes for Ansh. I listened to dadaji's words and I heard his pride and love for Ansh the way you all are ready to defend and protect him make me believe that he is a special young man, even the look Palak and Payel give my papa when he voiced his opinion tell me how much love there is among them for he is their bhayia. Vedant ji also looks like he is ready to refuse this alliance because of my papa's comment. This amount of love you all shower on Ansh only proved that who so ever is lucky to join this family will receive the same love and guidance like all the blood children. Punar vivah I was told that a woman has only one husband in a lifetime and if she becomes a widow she shall remain one her entire life; also a divorce is a bad person she could not meet the needs of her husband and in laws why should someone else marry her and deliberately bring trouble upon himself and his family"
Maya spoke "Young lady it is not an easy thing for anyone be man or woman to accept a stepchild, this child presence is a constant daily reminder that your spouse shared their life with another. My Yash and Aarti accepted each other kids from their hearts. They formed a loving family for their kids to grow up in a happy and secure in the love of two parents, then they thought of their needs and god blessed them with a deep love, friendship and respect they are each other true soul mate their respective spouses were just meant to be cross roads they had to travel before meeting each other and experiencing true love. Not everyone is fortunate to find their true soul mate or be given a second chance to live life. Yes it is true a woman must have one husband in her life but it means that she is married to one man at a time there is no third wheel in their lives also the husband must respect his wife and not bring in a third wheel. Beta not all divorce women are at fault but the woman always get the blame society don't ever blame the man or his family they could have been torturing the girl and yet she would be labelled as bad. Our Aarti is a divorcee her first husband was very bad and he abandoned her when she was pregnant with Ansh, he never wanted Ansh, then years later he returned again into their lives after her punar vivah with Yash and attempted to cause more harm to them but god punished him taking away his life"
Senior Dadaji Ramsinghs "I heard that she is a poor orphan who don't know what caste she belongs too, plus she is a widow been with another man and had a child. Why did you not marry Yash beta with one of Aripta's cousins sister or the daughter from a wealthy family? Why this used woman who brings shame to your family? This woman is clearly a gold digger who is just bidding her time to take over your family."
Yash was angry "Excuse me my wife is an accomplished business woman and designer who are you to judge her?" Aarti held Yash's hand and squeezed it frantically gesturing for him to stop. "No Aarti this lady has no right to say those thing about you she don't know us or our family"
Pankaj responded "Yash control yourself she is an elder and old school" he then turn to the guests.
Pankaj spoke to Mr Ramsingh senior "Sir if you don't wish your granddaughter to join our family it is okay our views about life and traditions are different from yours we have moved on from the old way of thinking about daughters, bahus and children, we do not favour son over daughter in this house all are equal and have equal rights. Our children are brought up with love, kindness and respect they have three sets of parents not one. Two grandmothers and one dadaji; yes our Maya buaji is an important part of their lives and her opinion matters. So please don't think that if your granddaughter marries my son she can use her beauty to woo him and turn him against his younger brother Ansh that will not happen. My son may be young but he is very smart and observant he has witnessed all the ups and downs of this family to form his own opinion. I also accept that it had been both yours and bauji's wish for both our families to unite through marriage but we will not accept this proposal because it stands a chance that in the future it will cause disharmony between my sons. We have four sons and we expect them to live together with their own wives and kids in this house or close by each other."
"SP what is this you are turning down our proposal because of a boy who is not of your blood, and his characterless mother; we have been friends since childhood this was our dream to unite both families who have been friends for generations we shared the same traditional upbringing what happened has living here in the city changed you so much you have forgotten your roots"
"BK times have changed and we must change with it I love my grandson Ansh so what if we are not related by blood he is one of my heirs this family was meant to be his and I will not push him to the side for anyone"
The Ramsinghs stood up "then we have nothing further to discuss Namaste all "
The Scindhias also replied "Namaste" and showed their guest out.
After they left the family discussed how bias and old fashion these people are that they are pretentious clearly after the Scindhia wealth and name.
G3 was worried what if they don't find a good match for their grandson and in future what about the granddaughters because not everyone is as accepting as they are of a widow/divorcee marring their son and having a stepson live with their family giving him all the rights as a blood son.
Yash said "Ma I want a good man for my daughter I don't care if he is rich or poor he must be a good human with good values not some fake who is all about society and wealth but insults or beat my child behind closed doors. Besides Vedant is only twenty two in my opinion he should experience more from life before marrying and having a family"
Vedant answered "I agree Yash chachu I am too young I want to complete my final year in peace then work for a few years but no one asked me my opinion so I am happy the topic about Ansh came up and we saw their true colours before it became too late and I was tied down to her for life."
G3 responded "Vedant it is good to marry young you both will grow up together and fall in love and have kids young to enjoy with"
"Dadaji there is no guarantee that I will love this girl or want to spend the rest of my life with her. Don't you understand time have changed I want to finish my education work save my money maybe by my own house or move to Mumbai. No one asks us what we want in this family you just expect us to follow your rule"
"Vedant what are you saying apologise to your dadaji now" shouted Vidhi
SP answered "The boy has a point I don't ever ask just command and expect them to follow I am happy he spoke out beta if you don't want to marry now then it is okay, and yes time have changed you may not like the girl we choose, the last thing I want is for my grandchildren to be unhappy in an unwanted marriage. Vedant if there is someone you like don't be afraid tell us after all we allowed your Prateek chachu to marry Paridhi bahu"
Latter that afternoon the family had their second set of guest it was Maya's in laws her father in law, sister in law and her husband came. The old man wanted to apologise to Maya for the bad treatment he and his family inflicted on her during her marriage and then after when her husband died.
The old man Rajkumar was in his late eighties he had lost his wife a few years earlier he had two daughters then his one and only son who he married to Maya from the wealthy Scindhia family of the neighbouring village. His son came years after his two daughters were born and they had almost given up; his family wanted him to take a second wife to give him a heir that was common practice but he loved his wife and refused. God blessed them with a healthy son who fell in love with a girl from a very poor family in their village but the grand parents would hear nothing of that; he secretly got married to the girl and they had a child all this happened while he was forced to marry Maya. Rajkumar junior had two sons and a daughter with his love while he barely spoke to Maya his family wanted an heir from Maya so he did his duty but Maya never got pregnant and time passed her in laws taunted her badly because she could not keep her husband home for long periods and could not give him a child.
Maya knew that her husband had another family even her family knew but no one thought about her feelings, so she had no choice but to bear the pain and loneliness herself.
Then one day her husband died in an accident and she was forced to live her life as a widow; Rajkumar junior had made provisions for his sons welfare their education was paid for and money placed aside for their daily needs but his daughter was left with nothing. Soon after his death his lady love died and her parents placed the daughter in an orphanage keeping the two boys.
Maya was ill-treated by her in laws but when her Bhabhi G3 was pregnant with Prateek and had a vibrant five year old Yash to deal with Maya came to live with them to help G3 with the household and the boys. Maya never looked back and they never contacted her until a few days ago.
The Scindhias greeted their guest and the introductions made; while the Scinshias were serving the tea and snacks, Ansh and his sister also helped old Mr Rajkumar stopped and stared as if he was seeing a ghost so did his daughter and son in law.
"Geeta, Vickram you are here how is it possible you both died so long ago" said the old man who turned to his daughter "Sonia look your ma and bhai are back they came back to us am I dreaming or have I died and did not get to apologise to Maya bahu"
"Ji bauji I mean nahi you are alive and yes they do resemble ma and bhai when they were young"
The Scindhias with the exception of Maya were surprised; who were they speaking about.
Sonia "Beta your name is Ansh and you bahu are Aarti. Who are your family where are you from?" she asked
SP answered "my bahu is an orphan she grew up in an orphanage"
Sonia continued "How old are you when were you born?"
Aarti was surprise but answered her.
Sonia looked at Maya and they shared a look which the rest noticed.
Mr Rajkumar "Sonia betie Vickram is back my son is back my heir is back I don't have to worry again about who will inherited my wealth you and your sister have daughters but my son is back my boy is back.
Sixteen year old Ansh was confused he did not like how this badi dadaji was looking at him so he went and stood behind his papa. Ansh was a tall, lean handsome boy who loved sports and exercising with his papa and uncles.
"Maya you hid my boy from me why did you do this" the old man accused
Now all looked at Maya for answers; she replied "Bauji this is Aarti Vickrams daughter with Radha and Ansh is her son. Yes I saw the striking resemblance when I met her for the first time during her Punar Vivah with my Yash and Ansh is just like his nanaji a carbon copy."
"What" said the collective shocked voices
SP "Maya such a big secret and you did not feel the need to tell us"
Maya "Why do you think I never liked Aarti and Ansh in the beginning it is because I knew who her father and mother were. Why did my stepdaughter get a second chance to have a happy life with a new husband and family and I did not get that chance. Why did she have to marry my Yash and become part of this family. Everyday seeing both Aarti and Ansh was a constant reminder of the pain and suffering I endured at the hands of my in laws. But now if you think you can get my daughter and grandson bauji I am willing to fight for them"
Aarti who felt that the rug was pulled out from under her feet almost fainted in shock but Yash moved quickly and caught her placing her to lie down on a sofa. The kids all ran to their mama frightened because they had never seen her go pale and sweating like this.
Finally after a few heart shattering minutes Aarti sat up with Yash supporting her only to hear Maya and her in laws arguing about her three sons and herself.
"Maya you have all three boys to yourself for all these years now it is time for us to get to know them Aarti is my daughter too and they are my grandkids too or have you forgotten I am their blood relative not you" complained Sonia
"How dare you come into my home and lay claim on my children you did not know they existed until today" said a furious Maya
"And who fault is that you were always a selfish B****" answered Sonia
A shocked SP and the rest were trying to control the two waring ladies.
