Part Eight
After their blissful reunion, there were no inhibitions between them anymore and their longing to remain close to each other increased many folds so much so that Yash always look forward to return from work to catch the sight of Aarti and Aarti was no less eager, she would turn and look at the clock so many times that she lost count. She would later laugh at her silliness.
One day Yash returned from work and straight away went to the kitchen where he assumed she might be at the hour of the day. She was doing the dishes and her back was facing the door, he just went towards her without warning and encircled her waist with his hands. She was so familiar by then with the touch of his warm hands even so it never failed to excite her, she equate herself to a candle that melts with his touch. Yash didn't stop at that he kissed her shoulders, neck and nibble at her ears causing indescribable pleasure to her.
They were lost in their own world when Ishita walked in on them.
"Aartiii... Oops! I'm so sorry, the front door was opened...," she said.
Yash made a quick dash from there leaving a red faced Aarti to deal with her.
"Hmmm... Aarti...looks like your Yashji...has problem keeping his hands off you," Ishita chuckled.
Yash overhead Ishita's remark and grinned sheepishly, "she is right about that one but next time I must remember to close the door."
"And what an improvement from the last time I was here...," she added then continued in a voice mimicking Yash, "Aarti...Is Palak back?"
"Are you done with all this teasing, have you forgotten that you need my help?" Aarti said trying to divert her attention to something else.
"Oh! Don't be mad," Ishita went to her and hugged her from the back.
Yash and Aarti had another embarrassing moment when they had to discuss with Palak about their sleeping arrangement.
"Yashji... you talk to Palak," Aarti prodded him.
"Palak... since you are a big girl now, you will have to sleep alone at night," Yash told her.
Palak looked at Aarti and asked, "Where will mama sleep?"
Yash was lost for words but answered "Your mama will be sleeping in my room."
"Why must she sleep there and not with me ...No... No... I want mama," she protested.
"Aarti ...you talk to her, she will listen you," Yash said frustratingly and went to his room.
Later when Aarti went to Yash's room he gave a quizzical look and Aarti said,
"This is what she agreed to... alternate nights with her."
"And how did you make her agree to this, I thought it was going to be an impossible task," he asked.
Aarti laughed first and then answered, "I told her you were scared to sleep alone, she didn't buy that at all and then she came with this win-win situation."
"Hmmm... Palak is a smart girl, I guess we must start making up answers to questions that she might ask later."
Later when both of them were lying on the bed Yash asked, "Are you asleep?"
"Not yet but I'm going to sleep any time," she answered sleepily.
After a lapse of time he said, "I never expected to feel this way again, Aarti...," he turned to the side to face her but found her sleeping soundly. He pushed her hair that covered her face behind her ears and said, "I love you."
The next day when Yash was leaving for work, Aarti told him about them having a guest at dinner and reminded him to come home earlier. He forgot to ask who the guest was and it turned out that the guest was none other than Aman. Again Yash was green with jealously yet didn't openly acknowledge it, he smirked mostly when Aman non-stop praised Aarti and her cooking.
Aarti had another guest that night, Ishita who came looking her best. Aarti introduced Ishita to Aman and Ishita wasted no time drooling over him. She later whispered to Aarti,
"Thanks Aarti for doing this... he looks even better from near."
After having dinner and sending Palak to her room the four of them chatted, Aman was talking about his school and Ishita gave him undivided attention.
"Aarti...we need to get you some casuals for your classes, you can't be going in sarees and salwar-kameez."
"Noo...," came from both Yash and Aman simultaneously.
"Aarti... please dress as you always do...don't conform to others," Aman took the lead and said.
Yash although agreeing with Aman still he didn't like it coming from his mouth.
"Next time I must make it clear to him that Aarti is my wife not his."
He only felt relieved after Aarti called him to the kitchen in the pretext of helping her after which she broke the news about Ishita and Aman to him.
"Let's give them some time alone," Aarti said.
At first it didn't trigger his brain and as soon it registered in he said, "Ohhh! You mean Aman and Ishita." It changed his mood instantly and he was more relaxed around Aman.

A few weeks passed, Aarti was fully occupied with her classes and as her interest grew she took up more things to learn. Yash was very supportive of her yet Aarti was reluctant to leave Palak with any sitter so she arranged all her classes during Palak's school hours.
And then came Yash's birthday, they had planned to celebrate at home just the three of them. Aarti was busy baking a birthday cake for Yash with the help of Palak who insisted on layering the cake with icing. Both the girls got playful and started throwing icing on each other, the sound of shrills filled the air. When they were done playing they got serious and finished their cake decoration. They took the cake out for Yash and he was over the moon.
They had uninvited guest on that day, a woman whom Aarti didn't recognise and she was carrying a package wrapped like a gift.
"Did she get the gift for Yashji... Who is she and how did she know it is his birthday?" her curiosity peaked and was impatient to get all the answers.
Aarti glanced at her few times since she looked familiar and then she remember the woman was in fact the person who got down from taxi and gave Yash a kiss. A strange uneasiness feeling overcame Aarti, she looked over at Yash but he only stared blankly at her.
"I hope her visit means nothing to him," she prayed.
Yash never bothered to introduce both of them, all he did it was to receive the package which she handed to him and smiled faintly when she wished him Happy Birthday. She moved her eyes around the house until she caught the sight of Palak, she walked towards her and caressed her face. Yash spiral out of control and reacted by grabbing her arm and dragged her out of the house, he then banged shut the door behind them.
Aarti went nearer to the door and heard some of words uttered. She sensed Yash was angry as he spoke in a loud tone.
"Arpita...What are you doing here?" Aarti had a rude shock when she heard the name. She had heard it so many times from Vidhi and Radha always with lament and regret.
Aarti's heart raced as she waited for her answer. "I came to see you and Palak."
"Arpita...this is the last time, Palak doesn't know her real mother...she only knows Aarti. You will end up muddling her and causing more hurt to her."
"Are you telling me that I can't even see my own daughter?" she asked.
"No...you can't, I will shield her from this pain. Please Arpita I beg you... leave from here."
She must have left as Yash entered the house alone. Aarti didn't know what to make of this unexpected incident and prayed for the wellbeing of her family. She later relayed her fears to Ishita.
"What's with that look, trouble in paradise," Ishita asked in a jest.
Aarti let out a sigh, "Yes...Yash's ex-wife is here, she came to the house last night."
"Really! Here...in New York, what a small world...if I were Yash I would pack everything and leave this place this instant," she said and laughed loudly.
"Ishita..It's not funny. The way she was looking at Yash and Palak as if she wanted them back."
"Chill Aarti...Yash loves you," Ishita tried to subdue her fears.
"I don't know... Yash has never confessed his love. What if he still loves Arpita?"
