Chapter Twenty One ' Prateik Weds Paridhi

AarYa are back with the kids and Gayatri and SP feel thrilled to have them home. The SP mansion had lost its life with the absence of these kids. They are at the same time happy for them as they needed the much needed time for themselves. Gayatri could also note a lot of comfort levels between Aarti and Yash now---than before the trip and that made her glad.

In a week's time was the wedding of Prateik and Paridhi. Yash was busy making arrangements for the grand wedding and this time it had to be more pompous than his own with Aarti which was kept simple as that was the need. Prateik was excited and at the same time sort of nervous too.

Prateik to Yash: Bhaiya, Tell me something, did you also feel the jitters when you got married?

Yash: Of course. It is a responsibility and it is as important for the man to adjust as it is for the girl. Just that the girl happens to leave her home so for her it becomes a double effort. Not only is her life new but the environment is new too. For the man, he has to make sure that his woman feels comfortable in the new surroundings as he is the only common closest link to her new life.

Prateik nods and excuses himself as he has a call. It was Paridhi.

Paridhi: How are you? We are so excited and are busy with all the shopping for the wedding. I have also taken a couple of weeks off. Dr. Ananya has been of a great moral support to me. She keeps coming over as and when she manages to find time and helps Anand Bhaiya and me with our wedding preparations. She has also spoken to me on different issues that are likely to crop up after marriage and now I am feeling a lot more reassured as I have someone to confide in should the need arise.

The wedding day arrived and all were dressed at their best. It was time for the Scindhia family to welcome their second daughter in law---Paridhi. All the guests present were impressed by Paridhi who was looking gorgeous as a bride. Prateik was looking like a prince too and all customs were followed to the satisfaction of the family. Anand along with the help of Ananya made sure to be meticulous in all the minor details of the wedding rituals. He was extremely happy for his sister whom he had reared with so much love and the time had come to send her away. It was an emotional moment for him. But luckily, he wasn't alone now as he had Ananya by his side. She had become a great support for him and so this transition was not that tough anymore.

Gayatri welcomes Paridhi home as a part of the "grihapravesh" and also reassures her of all the support as she now had a "mother" at home. Gayatri understood what it must have been for Paridhi to have grown up without parental love though Anand was a great brother and parental figure in her life. Paridhi was so relaxed and happy that all were so loving and caring towards her.

Prateik and Paridhi had a "traditional first night" like most couples do and here since they had already known each other there wasn't any need to postpone their consummation.

A few weeks later

Yash and Aarti were happy with the way things went on and Prateik was finally settled and things seem to be working fine for all. Paridhi had got back to work and Prateik took extra care to see that it did not come in the way of their finding time for each other as well as being with her at times of need.

Anand and Ananya by now had decided to finally seal their relationship as well. Anand had met Ananya's parents and they were quite impressed by this smart and bright lawyer who was a self made man. They plan to have an unconventional engagement in the form of a party with an announcement and exchange of rings-----as the wedding was to take place soon after. Plus since both were professionals they had a lot of friends and colleagues from their respective fraternity to invite. So it was arranged accordingly.

Prateik---- Paridhi, Yash---Aarti, Gayatri---SP, Shobha---Dubey ---were the family couples present along with the many friends of theirs ----doctors and lawyers/judges to grace the occasion.

The rings were exchanged and the announcement was made of the wedding in a couple of weeks time and the party had begun.

There was soft music and dance too and the couples were asked to join in. Gayatri and SP, Shobha and Dubey enjoyed it as they were dancing together after ages and it brought back memories of their youth. They felt young again and fully enjoyed the moment.

Prateik and Paridhi being the youngest love birds stole the show as they looked just perfect for and with each other.

Now shifting the attention to our dear AarYa---Yash was thrilled to get this opportunity to get close to Aarti in public as she wasn't too comfortable of that. She was fine within the confines of their room when they were a twosome but not in a party more so when her parents and in laws were present too.

Yash, however, manages to convince her and she agrees. As they sway to the music, and Yash is sort of lost in Aarti's eyes, he notices that she was she wasn't looking normal. She was slowly losing grip of Yash and nearly fainted in his arms. Yash quickly lifts her up and brings her to a secluded area. He rests her on a sofa and by then Shobha and Gayatri were there too.

They get some water to sprinkle on Aarti and she opens her eyes. They ask her if she was fine and she nods. Yash tells Aarti that he would immediately take her to the doctor. He was quite stressed and Aarti could understand the reason. She agrees.

Yash and Aarti excuse themselves and leave for the hospital. All through the drive, Yash was in deep thought. He was always careful when he got close to her---he hoped she was not pregnant. He did not want to her to be in a situation that she wasn't ready for. He was feeling upset and angry and also helpless and had to find out the actual reason for her uneasiness.

Aarti was well aware of his anxiety and did not say a word while they went. She did not want him to get into any kind of guilt like the previous time. She was also aware they had been careful throughout but who knows---there could be lapses too at times.

At the Hospital

The doctor asks Aarti to rest and does the routine check-up followed by a test to confirm pregnancy.

Yash was quite stressed about what the results would be. He requests the doctor to tell him the result first and that he would then handle it with Aarti. Aarti is asked to rest for some more time as she had been weak and Yash meets up with the doctor.

It was a ---"Good news".

The doctor was all smiles as she gives him the news only to find Yash's face drop. She wondered why he wasn't happy----after all it was their first child. Yash then tells the doctor that she never wanted to be a mother because of her condition. And he knew about it and now it was going to be a daunting task to face her with this news. He however had to and also found out the possibilities of a termination of pregnancy should she still be unwilling to become a mother. The doctor finds this strange and advises him to first speak to her and only then decide as it was her first conception and taking a step such as this could mar her health and future chances should she change her mind. She felt Aarti would understand now that she was already in the state of being pregnant.

Yash goes slowly to meet Aarti who was resting. He looks at her. She smiles at him to ease him of his worry. He gathers courage to approach her and comes closer.

He holds her hand and tells her: Aarti, What you did not want has happened and I am Sorry about it. I have spoken to the doctor and she asked me to first share the news with you before we take any further step. If you are not ready, I will not force you ever into motherhood.

Aarti's eyes are filled with tears. She wipes them and nods. (She wishes to say something else which Yash misunderstood.)

Yash: I know Aarti---you are not happy and I understand.

Aarti then places Yash's hand in her stomach gently and smiles. She moves her eyes from him to her tummy to indicate that a part of him was in her. She asks him to come closer and smiles with tears of joy rolling down her cheeks.

YES---she had changed her mind and was ready for it!

Yash was thrilled as never before!
