1. I liked the slow walk of Ashant round the driveway, the camera panning his footsteps, mostly, till he comes round the small pool/fountain. What is of note is that his reflection, much like his intentions, was murky in the water. His restlessness and increasing impatience were, as it were, superimposed on the water in the pond. It is as though the water did us all a favor by not doubling the incarnation of anger and greed by reflecting his image.
2. The jalebis stole the show today as the topic of contention above and below the stairs and within and without the household. A squiggly fried sweet soaked in sugar syrup, the jalebi had a versatile role to play: First, the jalebi symbolised sweetness and love of the grandparents sadly damaged by loss of trust. Next Papa SP's warning for Arati and Yash to train their children not to ask for things from strangers, although harsh, was extremely sound and almost prophetic, considering how the events played out later during the episode. Perhaps his warning subconsciously protected Ansh --who easily succumbs to food-- from heeding Ashant's temptations to come to him. Third, the squiggly jalebi fooled Ashant, and had the last laugh. It could not deliver his child's love and approval. Ansh does not love Yash simply because he is a jalebi-daddy fulfilling all his wishes and demands. That is just not what parenting is all about. Finally, the jalebi had a priceless role in bringing Arya and the children together, binding them into a compote of sweetness and cooperation.
3.The blindfold game represents a loop closure. Shortly after the reappearance of Ashant, the family had played this game in the park, soon after Ashant's visit to the children's school. Here too, a blindfolded Arati nearly collided with the see-saw (representing her own conflicting emotions of how and when to tell Yash about her past). Even now, after the revelation of the past, Arati is undermining Ashant's threat. The blindfold game, which was being played before his arrival, and which Arati and the children continued after Ashant's visit, reflected that where Ashant is concerned, Arati, and Ansh too, are clueless. They are all busy adjusting to their new bitter-sweet world expressed simultaneously through the flowering of love and banishment. It took Palak's observation to point out that Ansh was missing before Arati would open her blindfold, and finally Yash, who stared (Pr)ashant down and left him seething in the driveway. It is significant that Arati took off the blindfold in the middle of the game, and saw Yash coming to Ansh's rescue.
