Looks like Yash is over and done with Arpita, but our dear Aarti has misunderstood the whole story from Yash...otherwise why would he drool over her beauty...the hair and eyes!!

When she stepped out of the bathroom, she saw that he was already fast asleep on the bed. She felt disappointed that he did not wait for her to discuss the "situation." After they had toppled on the bathroom floor, he decided that he did not want to shower anymore and told her to take a shower. She was too disoriented that she had readily agreed.

She got on the bed and tried to fall asleep unsuccessfully. Everything was so different - the bed, the pillow and there was a stranger next to her! She did not know how brides in arranged marriage can fall asleep on the same bed with a stranger. But then again, she had some romantic notions on how this night was supposed to be before her husband burst the bubble. After one hour of tossing and turning, she finally switched on the television and began channel surfing. Thankfully they were showing F.R.I.E.N.D.S rerun. God did have some mercy on her as this show never failed to make her laugh. She increased the volume of the television.

Yash could not believe that he was hearing Joey's voice in the middle of the night. Did he fall asleep leaving the television on? That was unlike him.

He was about to get up and search for the remote when he saw a girl beside him watching the television. He blinked. Who was she? His eyes widened with realization. His wife! This was their wedding night and she was watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S!

"What are you doing?"

She ignored him and continued grinning staring at the television. He was always grouchy when he first woke up and her ignoring him made him more irritable.

"Aarti, I want to sleep. So please switch off the television. I have work tomorrow and I need my rest."

" I cannot fall asleep. And normally at home, I will either talk to Mansi or watch television til I am sleepy. "

"Do you realize that this is not your house? I need to sleep so please switch off the television. I have not had proper..."

Suddenly, she switched off the television and turned away from him. That was when the feeling sank in that her life had really changed. This was not her house. Her parents would not be there when she woke up the next morning. Her mom would not come into her room to cover the blanket over her if it rained in the middle of the night. She could not ask her mom to help her iron the clothes in the morning when she was late for work. She could not tell her dad to help her kill the cockroach in her room. She could not invite Mansi for sleepovers anymore. She felt like calling her mom up and told her that she had changed her mind and that she was not ready for marriage. Was it possible?

Married life so far was not impressive at all Yash thought as he laid on the bed trying to fall back to sleep.

" Yash, let's go through the costs of the development of the Oceanic Theme Park in Mumbai later today at 4 pm. I hope you can be ready by then as one of subcontractor is claiming for some overruns and I want to see how our costs compare against the budget before making a decision," Pankaj bhaiyya told Yash at the breakfast table.

It was 8 am in the morning and Aarti had been awake since 6 am. They had prayers at 7 am just now and thereafter she had to help with breakfast preparation. Thank goodness Vidhi babhi was there to guide her. She liked Vidhi babhi she decided except for when she kept teasing Aarti about "the wedding night."

She wondered how it was like when Vidhi babhi first got married. There was no one to teach her what to do. Gayathri maaji was not friendly at all and she was all about dictating orders and Buaji was quick to pass judgement. She was taunting Aarti's abilities to be a good wife because she did not know how to make kheer! How does knowing how to make kheer make you a better wife?

She and Vidhi babhi were not even allowed to sit and join the others at the breakfast table as they had to serve everyone else - Papa Scindia, Gayathri Maaji, Buaji, Pankaj bhaiyya, Yash and Prateek. Back at home, she had breakfast with Mom and Dad at the dining table at the same time. She wondered when she can have breakfast as she was starving.

"Yes bhaiyya, it should be possible. Aprita has been working on the numbers. I will go through them with her later and ask her to make any amendments if necessary before going through them with you."

Yash knew about the subcontractor claim and had informed Arprita to work on the numbers. Pankaj bhaiyya was the CEO of the Company and he was very thorough before making any decision. Papa trusted Pankaj bhaiyya with the business and Pankaj bhaiyya did not want to disappoint him. Papa has decided to take a back seat after turning 60 last year. Although he still went to office and was the Chairman, he was more involved in entertaining the clients than the day to day running of the Company. Scindia and Sons was India's top developing company for the past 30 years. Their late Dadaji started the Company from scratch 50 years ago.

"Aprita?"

Everyone at the table turned to look at Aarti who was standing beside Yash. Prateek, his younger brother, kicked him under the table but Yash ignored him. Prateek was the only one who knew about him and Aprita. Yash could see that Aarti was shocked. He prayed that she was shocked speechless so he could deal with this later.

"Is this the same Aprita who..."

He closed his eyes. He was not so lucky. He quickly got up, grabbed the bowl from her hand, placed it on the table and dragged her away from there.

"We will be back soon. I need to tell her something," he mumbled as he dragged her away to their room. He saw his dad shook his head in disapproval. He heard Bua's mere baghwan ke kasam... He knew he had some explanation to do later.
