Discussion Of The Week

Lying is a mundane activity. Some lies are big , "No she hasn't given me the money yet!" while some are small , "Yes ! I did sleep before 12" , Some are to keep somebody's heart , "No! You don't look fat!" , some are sweet lies , "You have world's prettiest eyes" & some lie shielded by anger or jealousy , "I look better than her."

Lies have been the integral part of the show Punar Vivah since its very beginning. The base of the lead in fact was built on a huge lie & sadly the lie had to travel with our protagonist Aarti in her new life. To conceal one mammoth lie she had to state hundred more petite lies. Aarti is guilt stricken for lying to her husband while Dubeys believe the lie that can save somebody's life or embellish somebody's life can't be misdemeanor.

This is the DOTW , how far is it fair to lie? Does a lie have a dimension? Is a lie in every sense an iniquity? Can a lie really embellish somebody's life?

Exactly my POV... Aarti is going to be in big trouble coz to be frank she's the biggest culprit. Who cares if Dubeys asked her to promise... They turned out to be very selfish... First they say it's for her happiness but now they just want her to keep it a secret coz they're worried Yash won't allow Ansh to be a donor. Aarti should have used her brain and came clean from the beginning after all its her life and when a foundation of a relationship starts from a lie, it's bound to fall apart. Even if she didn't tell the Scindias, she could have been honest with Yash.. Fine we can argue that she tried to tell him before the marriage and when that opportunity was lost she couldn't find any other time (though I find it more like she didn't want to find time)... but after the marriage, she had so many opportunities to tell (biggest being their wedding night) but she chose not to... When they were friends and close and even now, she still doesn't want to tell as she fears his reaction but what's the point?? It's better to come clean than making a thousand lies to hide one... At the end of the day it will go out of hand and everything will come tumbling down in the hard way coz what she did is honestly quite hard to forgive.
The Dubeys will come out of this without a scratch but it's Aarti life which will face maximum barbaadi.. they shouldn't name this zindagi milengi dobara but they should call it zindagi barbad hongi dobara (please excuse my hindi if its wrong)... She has already dug a hole for herself but now she's inside it.. If she doesn't come clean FAST and I mean FAST, she will lose everyone's trust especially Yash's and will never be able to get it back.
Heck even I will lose complete trust in someone who has lied to me in such a manner but I would consider forgiving if that person comes clean coz it takes a lot of guts. Gussa todhi hongi but at the same time I'll respect that person for stepping up. But if I find it out from someone else then I might be able to forgive but I'll never be able to trust that person again.

For me (OK..I now stop talking considering Aarti in mind) Lying isn't a crime...it is morally incorrect and unacceptable, but if the same lie is intended towards a positive or bigger goal (bigger than to what extent the lie can sabotage the peace)
I do not think a lie is any form of an iniquity...Lying isn't a simple act! It is as difficult for the person (the liar) as it is for the person to whom the lie is made
A lie achieves so many things without facing the hard consequences...it fits you within the bounds of your family, friends and a greater society...
But as said earlier a lie brings with it a lot of complications...litigations, a possible threat to someone's relationship and social status & the biggest disadvantage, you are robbed off the trust you placed in someone...

I still believe lying isn't a crime and a person who has never lied in his life is the most happiest and satisfied than his peers...It is not fair on the other party but it can assure a better outcomes in the long run
Slightly drifting to PV now...
What Aarti and the Dubeys have been doing since day one of her Punar Vivah (& before it) was a white lie (Used Wikipedia)
(WIKI Excerpts) White lies are minor lies which could be considered to be harmless, or even beneficial, in the long term. White lies are also considered to be used for greater good. A common version of a white lie is to tell only part of the truth, therefore not be suspected of lying, yet also conceal something else, to avoid awkward questions.
I am trying hard not to be judgmental on the current PV Happenings but I keep assuring myself that Yash will. the day he comes to know about the lie...stand up and support Aarti, not because I am tired of seeing them apart now but because if he does so he'll strengthen the bond they share now...Aarti will never dare to lie to him in future, but if he decides to jump upon her and ask her for the reasons (she must tell the reasons to him at once) she might never be able to find the trust in his eyes because he might make up his mind to never place trust in her after the treachery...

I am a superficial being and I don't have high morals...at least not like Yashji (Mujhe jhoot se sakt nafrat hain and all) I can be reasonable enough with the person on coming to know about the reason behind the lie
And if I am the person to lie, I'll manage a swift escape 😆😆
HOPING TO SEE MORE VIEWS HERE..
Thanks for the post :)

In My Opinion, When you lie to someone to make them happy; it is wrong. Why? Because you're lying to make someone feel better, would you continue lying to them until their life is wrecked up? It's always better to tell the truth because your one lie can wreck a lot of lives.
As for when someone lies for a selfish reason of their own, well they have no choice but to lie.
Either way, a lie is a lie. To a point though it's okay to lie if you're actually doing the right thing -Oooh Patrick Jane has possessed me ☺️- but yeah If you're gonna continue on lying knowing it's not doing anyone any good, it's better to stop right there.
I haven't watched PV neither do I intend to but from what I've seen when I did watch, Aarti should have just started her relationship with Yash Ji after clearing the air. The day she had decided not to say anything to Yash about her lie, was the day I knew there will be 100 episodes dedicated to a track where Aarti's lie gets exposed and she's, well trapped. 200 Episodes a Gayi I'm sure her lie is exposed now, it is right? Oh wait, never mind 😆
Peace.

Aarti looked coy or was it sly when questioned about her behavior by Yash and Bua. Then, a big revelation is shown: she tells herself (us), not for the first time," I have to tell the truth to Yash asap" ... and continues lying. Tell Yash the truth, my foot, she had so many opportunities, but no, why must she do that, it doesn't suit her purpose anyway ... and so the lie drama continues. I was of the view that PV is the journey of a second marriage, not so much about the previous marriage ... it seems that we are seeing so much ofAnsh, Ansh, Ansh
Aarti, Aarti, Aarti
Prashant, Prashant, Prashant
Maybe I am impatient and have to wait for the 300th episode to see the 3 children... I taught that was the reason Aarti and Yash remarried😕

Interesting topic, Shubika 😊

I personally dont prefer lies since to preserve that lie you are forced to continue your lying that presents you as a cheat and manipulator.

Does a lie have a dimension?
Yes, it has a dimension. Say, a child is lying at school telling some reason like he lost the notebook to avoid punishment for not doing homework. Its a simple lie. But he finds it attractive and continues often since he can avoid doing homework if he has some good reason. This will lead to abnormal behavior of a child. So the lie must be stopped before it grows rigorously.

Is a lie in every sense an iniquity?
No. When you tell a lie to simply cajole your child or your friend, its not iniquity. Where you are sure none will be affected in anyway.

Can a lie really embellish somebody's life?
If the lie has the power to emotionally destroy someone when its revealed, it cannot embellish somebody's life in the long run.

Is it fair to lie?
No, its never fair to lie. But there is always an exception for everything. Even a situation force you to lie, it is fair if you ensure to come out of it by giving your side explanations and ready to face the consequences of it. You've the strength not to let it grow further.

Excellent topic! 👏

How far is it fair to lie?
It is really not fair to lie, but small white lies I feel are okay, especially when you tell them so as not to hurt someone's feelings. A friend of yours asks you how a certain dress looks on her, even if you feel it is not good, you may just say, "nice." This kind of lie is okay, depending on the circumstances. The small white lies we use in our daily life are sometimes very much needed to maintain harmony.

Does a lie have a dimension?
Oh yes, lies do have a dimension. Some lies like the ones I mentioned above remain what they are and are harmless. But some lies lead to more lies. Sometimes, when one lies for a benefit and one succeeds, it might encourage to continue lying in similar circumstances in the future. This would eventually lead to trouble. What is happening in PV is the perfect example of the original lie growing to such proportions that it can wreck so many people's lives.

Is a lie in every sense an iniquity?
Again the little white lies spoken in politeness are not an iniquity. They lubricate the social interactions. But lies spoken with intention to harm are wrong.

Can a lie really embellish somebody's life?
No, not in the long term. Lies usually lead to more lies to hide the first ones...it can be lead to a hideous tangle in which one can get strangled.

In the context of PV, a marriage succeeds when based on trust. Any relationship for that matter which is based on a lie is going to come tumbling down some day. What started as a seemingly innocuous lie about Aarti being a widow instead of a divorcee has led to a huge tangle of lies and I am sure we have not seen the end of them yet. There will be some more lies before the truth is revealed. Dubeys felt that one lie would help to make Aarti's life, but the same lie is now threatening her marriage. Dishonesty never pays.

wow nice topic to discuss shubhi dear
For me a lie is a lie one shud not lie i know sab jhoot boltay hai kabhi kabhi sach bolna humare bas me ahi hota but humay koshish yahi karni chahiye k jitna ho sakay hum honest rahay
i will not believe anyone who says he/she doesnt lie at all?
everyone lies some lies to cover up their guilt some lies to hide the reality which might hurt the other person but if we start lieing once we cant be honest for the whole life of ours
for example if some one is wrong and we r supporting her/him by saying that he/she is right then this might cost us alot
otherwise in daily life choti moti jhoot to boltay he hai hum

I agree that lies that does not harm anybody as said, white lie are OK but if its going to harm anybody -say mental, social, emotional or any aspect, its not fair.

Aarti's lie in the beginning was ok. They were just parents of their children not did not share any relation but now since they are in relation, Aarti's lie for me is crime. She can not justify it.

Yash is again and again stressing how much he trusts her, in such situation she should not lie. She knows Yash, she can convince him for Ansh's bone marrow transplant. If he doesn't agree, she can go against him n donate BM but lying is not accepted. This should definitely end now. Aarti must tell it to Yash before Bua discloses it.
