Yash realizes his love for Aarti just then he is about to lose her. Second loss is intolerable !

Angry with himself!

the tussle in the mind with the Past ( his so called Present..i.e Arpita) and his actual Present i.e Aarti..makes him realise i guess that PAST has indeed Passed..and this throwing of Arpita's pic i guess is now actual Mourning..unless the CV's have another twist in store for us in the form of a teaser of a precap with Past n Present JUXTAPOSED together in one frame

I am leaning a little towards the first option, and here is what I wrote in the DC about it:

Yash has started to come closer to Aarti, she is important to him, has become a big part of his life, and the thought of losing her probably drove him to the brink! He realized just how emotionally invested he has become in her and decided then and there that he needed to distance himself from her because he wouldn't be able to bear it if something happened to her! He couldn't and wouldn't go through that whole trauma again, and if pushed Aarti away from his life maybe then the intensity of his emotions would also die down! But the guilt still stayed with him, and then that coupled with the realization that Arpita was truly and irrevocably dead caused him to lash out of her pictures!
