YASH PROTECTED AARTI! She was all ready to confess from the bottom of her heart. He saw that, saw that it wasn't the practical route and stopped her, making the explanation to his mother himself. Chances are he wanted to spare himself the drama, but still! 😳😍
I just loved the silent war between Yash and his dad, with SP stressing Arpita, Arpita, Arpita and Yash sort of stressing Aartiji. There was a silent revolt happening there because for some reason, Yash is unable to defy his father directly but he is certainly not happy with the way things are going and finds ways to express that. I thought it was interesting how he declared that he would drive himself rather than taking his dad's driver, and SP who had been so insistent and commanding on the doctor thing and Aarti going with him, is all of a sudden totally fine with Yash's decision, which is not much more sensible. What gives?
SP's character is just so interesting because at face value, his words seem so sensible. Gayatri, Yash has a wife, let her take care of him. That seems to be like a perfectly healthy way to detach an over-affectionate mother and give the couple some space. But then the whole insistence on Arpita comes into the picture and the depth of his character is sensed but not revealed by far. What is his inherent contradiction?
The scene with the three couples were really interesting. I liked how in tandem with our discussion over the weekend, AarYa are silent observers here, but also very perceptive and keen ones. The tension is not lost on them, on either side. Poor Paridhi hasn't even been out to the garden! 😆 It is clear that Pankaj is getting more frustrated because he is airing his dirty laundry, not exactly in public, but now outside the confines of his and Vidhi's relationship. But today it felt like an argument of equals. Pankaj was caustic but Vidhi had a logical retort to his biting statements. She could lecture these two couples because they were newly married, she and Pankaj are not. Of course it is debatable whether her POV is right (which I don't think it is) but I was glad to see she had a valid viewpoint and expressed it lucidly instead of crying or feeling tortured.
AARTI DROVE THE CAR! This was undoubtedly the highlight of today's episode for me. Along with Pari's job track, this screamed of progressive thinking and nari shakti! First of all how wonderful is it to have a TV heroine who knows how to drive before the hero teaches her? She is not really "modern" in the stereotypical sense, but she is modern in the true sense of the word! I loved that Yash, who had refused his dad's driver, sort of indirectly confessed his weakness to Aarti and trusted her to take the reigns. Remember people, this is OCD, I-need-control-over-everything Yash we are talking about. He gave her control and trusted her to manage it. And how utterly ADORABLE was Aarti in her nervousness, with her steadfast expression when she was driving? This is going to be a classic scene for the ages! 👏
I loved that she didn't drive the way he wanted her to, or the way she would have driven but the point is that she listened to him when he told her to change the way she was doing things and she did the job when he couldn't and got him to the place of healing. I also adored Aarti's under-breath mumblings. Aarti was utterly adorable here and I am definitely going to be watching that scene many, many times! 😃
And the hospital was hilarious with the funniest doctor I have ever seen on television! AEROBICS?! 🤣🤣🤣 He killed me with his all-knowing remarks that made Yash and Aarti so awkward. And did he really call Yash a "macho man"? 🤣🤣 I love how this show is not afraid to poke fun at the hero's so-called perfection. And I don't know if Aarti used reverse psychology on purpose, but it sure did work on Yash as he had to prove his worth and save his pride. Angel, I thought of you when she said he was like Ansh. I know your point was a little different that they would see the other in the other's children but here Aarti sees in Yash, the one person she loves most in the world and that is definitely a good sign. I loved KS's subtle change in expression from when she was thinking Yash was like Ansh to a moment later when you could see her relaxed, smiling face sort of stiffen and straighten up. Beautiful, that was!
I will finish discussing AarYa and then go to Pradhi last so the last scene now. How cute were these two again? I love how Yash was acting like an insolent child and Aarti did nothing but play along. She brought him Oreos! I don't know why but that makes me really happy. 😆 I love how she just "handled" him and he so knew it but there was nothing he could do about it because he is sick and so vulnerable. Ha! Aarti 1, Yash 0.5 (cookies 😆).
I keep saying loved it, but other words don't seem to suffice so bear with my limited vocabulary today. I LOVED Paridhi today. If you see it from her perspective, she is really going out of her way to make things work from her side. Today I was looking at them and I realised, Prateek is in the same clothes he wore before marriage but Pari has had to change from her functional, light, youthful clothes to these heavy sarees. I understand now why she is doing maska only. It is not because she is a deceitful person, but because she doesn't see herself fulfilling this role for much longer. This is only a stop-gap before she goes back to work so she is making a good impression any way she can. Smart. Also with the samosa thing, I love how at first she sort of felt inadequate and indulged in just a moment of self pity before she realised that so what if she wasn't a good housewife? She was an excellent RJ, and she put that to good use. Smart!
I also like that she gave Prateek and ultimatum because I agree that this is getting ridiculous. I know I would have felt deeply wrong doing all the things that are expected of Pari, from the pallu to the cooking to the eh ji, oh ji. I am not saying those things are bad, necessarily, just that she has had to go out of her way to make this work and Prateek has done nothing so far. I like that she said she is going to work either way. She is doing this act of obedience to please Prateek and his family, not for her investment so she can stop any time and she will.
Precap: I hope Gaya and SP being there is another weird manipulation. Their presence would not be welcome in this context.
