Yesterday there was some light on Raj's character .He had understood Divya's problems so he has no grudge against her ,was waiting for her. It was just for that time when Divya was leaving. He was no stone but not attached with any person of his family that's it.

Thanks, Ekta.

Yes, they are now shedding some light on him the way he is. His attachment to Divya is obsession and now they are showing Divya slowly realizing it. Since she was so young before, she never could sense his intensity. Also, both were teenagers and everything was hunky dory in their world. So Raj didn't have to show this neediness.

But I would not say that he did not hold grudge against her. He knew why she left and yet never contacted her and married someone else. In his alternate reality, she was the one to left him while he begged her to stay. So she was supposed to be the one to come back. Now he feels that she has broken her marriage because of him and did come to his house prior to her engagement. So he is thinking (and rightly so) that she came back to him and only got engaged because he was married.

He is very aloof from the rest of the family. He had to be detached even before Divya left him. He never told her anything about the family - profession or working etc. But maybe he was not this unemotional person that he is now. For that, Kamla blames her husband (and she is mostly right), but then takes out her frustrations on Sarita.

gud to see some shades of raj yesterday.he indeed looked like a small kid.he still considered him as unmarried.

Vanditha, thanks. Yes, he was a kid who got a candy jar. It was in a way sadly cute because he is living in such a make-belief world where he is not ready to admit that time doesn't stop for anybody. That his world and Divya's world have changed and both need to move on from the past.

Angie, great post! Liked the points about all the chars, esp for Raj and Divya. These two are my fav..Raj bcoz he's troubled, loner, who suffered as young with a disfunctional fam and now when he has the age of making his own familly His father forced him to marry a girl he didnt know and lost his dream girl...i know hes unfair to sarita but for me its kinda real reaction of a deeply hurt person, with no friends or shoulder to cry on..i am sure he doesnt have friends bcoz of same reason..his nuts familly...
I am fine with his characterisation so far coz its like in real life, some people are hard to open up or read, and it takes a good time till u know him completely..hopefully this is cvs vision too..i guess

Divya,. i like her even more for her smart idea of getting in the house like a diva and not as a mistress...

Sarita, well the actress does a good job portraying this dreamer, selfish one from my pov, as she put up those condition.

Gaurav, he is the real friend who doesnt do praises but tells the ugly truth to divya..and thats a true friend...sorry, cant see him involved emotionally with divya...from my pov he only fits the picture of a friend, advisor.. for a hubby there must be some sparks and divya has that with raj.

Myra, thanks. Divya definitely is my favorite character because girls like her exist who sacrifice their happiness to take care of their familiies. I have hard time understanding characters like Raj and Sarita even though they too exist - not in the unrealistic manner shown in serials. But I have sympathy for all three and now Gaurav is also included in that.

I think Raj has always been a loner. He was a popular guy in the college but only Divya was close to him. His family is nuts and even the relatively normal sister Shiela is an epitome of negativity. So in whom he can confide.

He definitely is a hurt person who felt that the person on whom he relied the most for his emotional wellbeing left him for others (never mind if "others" were her own younger siblings dependent on her).

I want to see more of him and Divya's back story to see how he formed such an attachment to her.

Divya did get a good idea, but since she planned very hap hazardly, it is going to come back to bite her just as Gaurav is warning her.

I won't call Sarita selfish even though last few days her character was coming out to be that of an obsessive, clingy person. In last two episodes, they are bringing her character back to more of a character who is desperate to get her husband's love, but is also highly insecure (understandable the way her self esteem has gone down due to neglect and abuse).

Gaurav is definitely the sanest one here. Even though he has his own insecurities because he doesn't want to lose Divya, he gives her space. I am liking him for her because probably sometimes it is a good idea not to have two volatile people together. So even though Divya and Raj have this past, they are both too volatile people to live happily ever after. Gaurav seems to balance out Divya's impulsiveness and he is the type of guy with whom one can find peace and happiness over a period of time. That's why I like him with her. To me, Raj is coming out as Divya's past whom she must confront both for her and his sake, but Gaurav is the present that suits present day evolved Divya. I kind of like the idea that it is possible to build a life with someone with whom one doesn't have that spark or passion. But lets' see how they show this story. As long as everything is logical, I would be fine with it.

I still don't like Raj - looking at his reaction to divya it feels like had she proposed he would have married her immediately following his father's footsteps - without a single thought spared for his wife. If he is so detached from the reality he needs a psychiatrist to cure his delusions. Being treated unfairly or having suffered is no excuse for abuse - in fact all abusers have a history of being abused. The guy has so much personal charm as seen in flashbacks - why is the ph presenting him so badly.

Thanks Ruchi. I have to say last few episodes had me losing interest in the show. But last two episodes pulled me back and I am back to liking both Divya and Sarita's characters. I have always liked Divya, but I have lost sympathy for Sarita few times. But now they are back to showing both of them as complex characters and they too have started growing on me.

I don't dislike Raj as I feel somewhat sorry for him even though he is responsible for a lot of his misery. That's why I want to see his backstory to see how much his behavior can be excused. But you are totally right. The way he was acting in yesterday's episode, it seemed that he lives in some alternate reality where he doesn't have a wife. He for sure needs a psychiatrist to come out of his delusional world. I think his fantasy would be broken once Divya's pact with Sarita comes out. You are right that a lot of abused becomes abusers. Neglect and indifference to another human being (Sarita) is also a form of abuse and it is not an excuse.

I fail to understand why PH is presenting him this way or not giving any explanation for his character. They need to create connection for audience for all major characters. But they have made him look highly unsympathetic. I am hoping that from now on, they will expand on his character.

Thanks Afsara. I am trying to understand these 4 characters. So I am interpreting it my way given how limited they have shown about Raj.
